I think the writers messed this up . This was way too romantic to not be Elena . Obviously they made it with so much emotion because the audience would believe that it was Elena . But it was Katherine , so it was pointless . this scene was the best scene in the entire series, in my opinon. When Damon and Elena do eventually kiss each other for real, it won't be anywhere near as special as this ...;/

Even after that, I couldn't watch the scene. But on the plus side, I think DE's mutual kiss will be even better, because it's been built up and we've waited for it for so long. Their connection and relationship is even stronger now than it was then, so it will be explosive.
