  • amazing

  • Very good video im thinking about taking up JKD at LA . Fitness thanks :D

  • Existe algma academia de jeet kune do no rio de janeiro SR. Matsunaga?

  • Those pics of Lee show his impecable and graceful form. His skill was extraordinary =)

  • Very good video my friend, you foot work was great... Well done, and thank you :-)

  • nice, wonder how tal lhe is?

  • Nice demo video for JKD

  • pretty good is he

  • This guy is very good, one of the better JKD demo vids on youtube. And yeah the side kicks look good, they aren't supposed to be pulled back so much.

    This guy gets it.

  • This guy is good. He moves like a fighter. I have 30 years in the arts. I am more into combats arts than martial arts. JKD is a combat art because they spar hard to achieve results. It seems to me he is a new generation of JKD fighters.

    clear combat fighting systems

  • I think his sidekicks suck.

  • It's hard to show a good side kick without hitting a solid target.

  • hmmm...even if they were executed on something,I doubt they would be very effective side kicks. They should be pulled back more, then kicked out straight.

  • You have to understand JKD. They don't chamber their kicks, its all done by the hip. It is a lot less telegraphic, I don't know if they all are of this quality, but some are. I would rather learn solid boxing, kicking, judo and wrestling and use what my body responds to.

    clear combat fighting systems

  • ture but he asks martia lartist to trancend taht enven if its easier for ur body to resond to but it wont be efficient especiallty grappling since i n a split second i can shoot u or stab u lots or hitt u etc etc

  • Believe me my friend, that would not be as effective as JKD

  • JKD has to many ways to slay. I think Sanda is much better, it has been tested on the battlefield, with police, street and in the ring. This is a complete system. When bruce died so did JKD.

  • For police/military it will be good to throw people etc, the moves are far to time consuming and complex to be productive against someone who actually knows how to fight! In an actual fight JKD would undoubtedly be victorious. Any art that does well in the ring, only proves it is a sport!! Do not forget JKD is an art, as well as a concept! It is bound by no rules and is more alive today than ever (admittedly their are people out there teaching crap) but also their are people teaching "True JKD"

  • they dont pull back their side kicks in JKD

    very telegraphic is that

i guess you think they are not powerful becasue of that? In Jeet Kune Do power comes from the hip and fowards momentum with footwork for Side Kicks

  • @Xgloomshadow Dude,I do JKD. I get your point but,if he does it like that,it WILL NOT be powerful. My sidekicks are powerful AND non telegraphic.

  • @clearcombat do you have a video of yourself?so we can see you

  • All JKD fighters move the same way. I thought it was about

being formless. I am not putting JKD down, but it has become a style. The fighters slide step all the same way.

I know Bruce Lee felt JKD was a concept, but it has turned out to become a style, and a very good one.

    clear combat fighting system

  • very well put and i can see how that seems, but i feel that Bruce lee accomplished his goal of making it a concept and not a style, its the way you use it. not thinking. the steps are the teachings of the moves like it says its simple and direct. the way you use it and make it formless is how you control it, this just ONE of the things what made Bruce Lee so great.

  • @clearcombat agreed... With my wing chun i dont even focus on the stance i frequently change between wing chun techniques, muay thai, and jeet kune do uncontiously so im not even 100% sure what the hell i do anymore...

  • @simplePERCEPTION then you are a true master of martial arts. Because "martial arts means to truly express yourself". (As stated by Bruce Lee). Bruce Lee him self does not have 1 stance. If you research more youll see that he has no style or no technique. but to get the job done with and quickly. I do no longer believe in stances. because every situation will involve a different stance. But ofcourse just follow your brain. If you switch stances randomly, then your good. Be water my friend!

  • @SubMe2SubYou Oh im no master, but thank you... I just do what feels right... Adaption is the key to doing ANYTHING weather martial arts or basic life... Ive only been doing Muay thai for a year and Wing chun for a few months and the transition is smooth and natural...

  • @simplePERCEPTION

Hey man i used to train in Muay Thai for about 6 years but now i been practising Wing Chun for about a year, and i'm in love with Wing Chun now, but how are you able to cross train, i was told to learn wing chun properly then move on to another style to learn not that i want. Sorry getting off topic.

just wanted to know how you cross train.

  • @MrSinantra Its simple for me because i have an open perception on martial arts like bruce lee did... Im not really cross training, i just find it easy to do wing chun and slip into muay thai or judo... The styles just kind of go in and out togeather when you develope the reflexes so you dont need to think, the technique just flows on the most direct path.

  • @simplePERCEPTION i guess but still what about the feet work there completely different, and also trapping and chi sao and so much. They both have too much stuff incorpirated in them i rekon but thats good that your able to do so. Personally i want to master Wing Chun. But good luck on your training i hope you reach what you want to as a martial artsist :). Nice to talk

  • @MrSinantra My sifu dosnent like the two handed chi-sau because in a real life fight, your not going to chi-sau, instead we do a free style chi-sau like in Bruce lees' enter the dragon when he faught O'hara... And when we do so we dont worry about the knee clamping horse because its to solid and fighting is to fluid to be cemented in a stance... This allows for Muay thai footwork, judo, jeet kune do, or wing chun if you wish...

  • @clearcombat ive done jkd about 2 years and than quit for my school exams a year (starting soon) but the slide thing is probs becouse its the first you learn

the step n slide movement is really good for ur balans guard and speed :)

  • @clearcombat formless does not equal technique-less. There are still specific technical ways to through a punch and a kick before you can become formless. You can't run before you have learned how to stand!

  • @guynamedtroy The word is "Throw" a punch

  • @clearcombat Congratulations, you know the difference between through and throw, good for you. Did you want a cookie? So I made a small mistake in my writing, it happens. Are you my 8th grade English teacher? I promise to do better next time. By the way, it is appropriate to finish a sentence with the proper punctuation (since we are getting nit-picky).

  • @guynamedtroy "Congratulations!". ....This is more correct.

  • @guynamedtroy "You can't run before you can walk", is the old verse.

  • @guynamedtroy thats right man, to become formless, you first need to understand how basics works. Then you can improve the traditional moves

  • @guynamedtroy You can't run before you can walk. This is the correct passage.

  • @clearcombat about step and slide, not only jkd is doing this...every style does this. Cuz this is the most efficient way to move. JKD is indeed no style. Its freedom! Its simple and direct and do only what fits you.

  • @clearcombat yeah i thought that is well, to improve the traditional fighting style, the jeet kune do is just a concept but, so many people can't master that concept like how bruce does it. So many people tried to copy what bruce moves and try to improve the moves i think?

  • @clearcombat there is no style, it is simply elevated thinking. the sole purpose is for one to adapt. as one becomes more focused, new techniques are revealed. it is a neverending style. since ones surroundings are constanly changing in each fight situation, one must also constanly change their techniques. rip bruce

  • @clearcombat JKD has not become a style. However, too many people declared themselves teachers of JKD without the right qulifications. JKD is no style like Don Inosanto or Paul Vunak for example can tell you. But too many people make JKD a style. They fail at understanding the main point of Jeet Kune Do, which is to "not lay down restricting rules", as Bruce Lee put it himself. "JKD isn't JKD". JKD of person A is surely not the JKD of person B. But that's how it has to be. Continuously changing.

  • @tsi2568 There are certified teachers of JKD that Bruce Lee determined suitable to teach it.

  • @tsi2568 you are wrong

  • @tsi2568 Right, but, none of us, including Dan and Paul, are Bruce Lee. So how can they, especially Dan, take his own ideas and add them to Bruces and call it JKD? JKD was a name given to a mans own path in martial arts and philosophy; Bruce Lees. Bring in your own ideas using what Bruce left, but dont call it JKD or teach it as such. Bruce didnt mean to create an "art", but he did teach very specific movements and ideas.

  • @tsi2568 Original JKD is itself an art and philosophy that you are describing. jkd concept is what you are describing only. in original you must know the core elements (wing chun fundamentals, boxing fundamentals, and fencing footwork) to call yourself an original jkd martial artist.

  • what a know jkd alway move its hit before foot

  • in this case your oppoent cannot intercetion you if you move your foot first and than opunch you will get intercetions stop kick or punch

  • @clearcombat I think it's because so many train simply in Jun Fan Gung Fu which was the fighting style Sijo Bruce Lee used himself. I've been training in JKD for awhile now but also train in a few other arts as well and I don't feel I move like I see a lot of other JKD people move. I definitely agree with your observation but I think it depends on what academy the person trains at and if it offers more than just Jun Fan Gung Fu.

  • @clearcombat Exactly, and the system stems from his core concepts which he experiemented with over and over, and the most useful tools disclosed themselves to him. The most practical. His tools sprung from his concepts. And to my census the same tools will always come about when using his methods.

  • @clearcombat WeLL, my Friend, One must "develop" form, to Un-Form & Freedom, kinda like Developing thy Alphabet SkiLLzzzzzzzz, then EVENTUALLY, each person, wiLL develop their "own" Voice.......................

Who ever Writes or FEELS precisely the SAME, anyhow?

If anything, you are NOTING that Jeet Kune Do, Borrows HEAVILY & is INFLUENCED Mightily from his experience with: FENCING, hehS.....................

All the concepts are EXTRAPOLATED from Fencing, even Stances and Concepts.........

  • @SaffuriousOne honestly....but the man in the video I think is slow....there is no precision..all this kind of video has in common the hard rock music...it seems to make feel some power that there is not effectively

  • @guru6464 Nah, That's just PhysicaL Perception, it doesn't matter, when it comes down to it, it's InternaL Energy, something that allows you to SURPASS those BOUNDARIES and Limitzzzzzzzzzz, which is why I think it tis more PracticaL to learn Grappling Defense, as a way to measure the Gap, it's Safer, usually more Effective, and Silat is Great for Defensive Offensive where you can Damage with the Elbows and "destroy" their Weaponzzzzz, i.e. Fists n' Feet...............

  • @SaffuriousOne look, you are talking about immaterial things just to make coinfusion...energy, sense, internatl are only excuses..the true is that you and other many people that (say to ) make jkd has fat, is slow , has no power ...and this for a simple reason....while bruce lee trained with special isotonic machine to better the power, you people do nothing of it..do not think that in real fight you have time to jump as in samba....

  • yeah, I agree, this guy is not the best, nor is he the Fastest, whatnot, it's about the Passion, man, Varying Degrees of SkiLL, that's the WHOLE point to PRactice

To find out: where you Lie in the Scheme of things?

Where our Talents Lie? So, by your definition, if you "suxxxx" you should not do anything?

Please.................if anything, this guy is just sharing his passion, and we can all relate, instead of being a negative person, try to be More Encouraging, Douchebag, hahahaha

  • @SaffuriousOne if a young guy try to make imitation of briuce than it is ok, who did not do it? but that some adult make imitation ,then I think should show some capacities...otherwise it seems that he want to show capacities while he has not....be at least honest to put a clear phrase where you advice it is just passion, fun, and so on....People, you remember interview when bruce answered "it would be easy to make fancy movies and fool things..BUT TO EXPRESS ONESELF HONESTLY

  • @clearcombat Thats because most "JKD" fighters learned from watching BL movies.

And formless isnt the formless youre thinking of here.

  • @clearcombat well they basically give "u" this informatin and techniques and u must be urself when fighting an enemy he is jus showing u these techniques

  • @clearcombat What you see is a similarity in techniques, or the use of the techniques in the art, it is unfortunate but you are correct in your observation most JKD practitioners seem to utilize the same techniques, and it happens because well, they are damn good techniques and they work when applied correctly, but again you are right, another detail you may have or not noticed is the style of fighting of original JKD practitioners vs the concept guys...

  • @clearcombat ...my concern is that we are becoming easy to read, like a book, i try to be as true to myself as possible, but in the end i face the same dilemma, if the technique works it works, a straight line will always beat a curve, to bridge the gap between myself and my opponent i might as well use my longest weapon nearest to my target, if you block i will pak and if you push i will lop, it all just makes sense, what to do what to do? :)

  • @clearcombat Dude, you're so right. I've studied JKD for 6 years now. They think their shit's the best and they think there is no better way. This is not what Bruce intended. Just about all JKD guys are completely hypcritical. I have learned that to be a JKD guy is to not be a JKD guy. You're not supposed to look (or be) anything.

  • @clearcombat you have to find form in formless and formless in form.

  • @maliciousdoc Yeah you have to have form to be formless

  • @clearcombat I agreed, to better yourself you must change it to fit your need.

  • @clearcombat thats why in the schools that practice the way bruce lee foough rather than teach the formless self inspired individualized concepts call this Jun fun kung fu or junfan martial arts never JKD

  • @clearcombat True hehehehe

  • @clearcombat idk dan inosatos seems to be FMA with jkd concept

  • @clearcombat some ppl differentiate it by saying jun fan style which is this shown above and JKD

  • Great Training Bro-this is awesome-distills Bruce`s principles

    Keep it up!

I have some martial philosohy at warriorsagechannel on youtube-enjoy

  • Now I know how Bruce Lee could throw punches that missed people by half an inch without worry of knocking them out, Paper Training! =)

  • very good - great control

  • nice

  • that's superb

  • JKD doesn't have a belt system.

  • If JKD does not have a belt system...

...how did Bruce Lee keep his pants from falling down?

  • Budum tiss.

  • extremly strong hip muscles

  • Easy he had elastics sowen into his pants :D

  • HAHA! LOL! :D

  • his pants were one size fits all.

  • he wore tight pants you idiot

  • he mostly wore sweats LOL.

  • @jolemez ...he obviously wore a size that fit him...

  • @jolemez haha! good shit!

  • @jolemez i bet you dont wear a belt all the time every where you go do your pants always fall down??

  • @jolemez he wears tights

  • @jolemez Tizzzz Call'd his Magnificent One "inch" Suction, he could "pull' his GROIN and his Pants inWARD, hehS......................

  • @jolemez Now, it's evolved: Including Muay Thai CLINCH & MMA Ground & Pound, aka Jiu-Jitsu SurvivaL SkiLLzzzzzzzzz, hehS...............

NaturaL Evolution, no "belts" Required, only ELASTICITY, hehS.......................

  • @jolemez probably to kick your ass is possible also without to keep own pants

  • @jolemez he used a belt but his martial art did not have a belt system

  • @jolemez he did not wear a pant, only a skirt.

  • very effective brutal attacks!!!! nice!!!!!

  • bom otimo

  • this is very good respect

  • beautiful

  • incredible foot work speed!nice.

  • awesome presentation

  • Damnit this is a good video man. Ive been wondering what the oblique kick was called till now. its probly one of the most simple attacks that come natural when im in a brawl. thanks for the vid.

  • You are an excelent figther

  • awsome

  • So fucking fast.

  • awkward..

  • whats the purpose of the paper?

  • speed , focus, and final powerfull

  • who did you train under?

  • he probably learned to paper thing at watch?v=RUqdoWL-Bok

  • @fematsunaga your right and also it shows how fast because of the wind from your fist is moving the paper not your fist

  • Aki onde vc dah aula ?

  • @allshallbelosttoyou also its helps have control of ur fist

  • you are very good..good work

  • to get this good? i'm guessing 15 years+

  • i think you are underestimating a motivated individual

  • probably yes, the time it takes for people to get this good varies, this person may taken half the time to get this good. I was just giving a sort of average as to how long it takes most people to get that good.

  • Awesome video! Pure fighting force

  • very very good videos. go on i like a lot your work. respect and ammiration. go on prof. matsunaga!

  • very good technique and speed. keep it up. :-D "knowing is not enough we must apply, willing is not enough we must do" bruce lee. ^^

  • this guy must be pretty short, [not that it matters] but he punches high as hell

  • its nice to see some more about this art

  • very nice !

  • That's very good!

  • you can see somones finger at 2.33 to

    2.38

  • why punch the paper, I hit the heavy bag and sometimes the sway bag. What is the advantages of the paper besides the obvious cost benefit.

  • training the distance ,something

  • Use the paper to train speed. Punch at the paper, and if you snap your fist quickly enough, the paper will be forced backwards, clinging to your fist, by the force you cause. Simply punching at the paper to move it is really worthless; if you want to practice punching force, attempt to punch/kick out 1+ inch candles. Or just beat the shit out of sandbags, seriously.

  • using paper is to develop more speed without focusing on power.

  • @werg00d So you can take notes afterwards.

  • actually this is a good way to become a good figther

  • awesomeeeeeeee! :D

  • That was great.

  • That was impressive..

  • JDK is based off wing chun, its an idea not suppose to be a format. To be simple and direct is the theory of Wing chun, and high spin kicks are not simple and direct also most hook punches. For those with problems learning the idea of JKD, you guys should start by studying Wing Chun.

  • real good :)

  • 5 STARS!!!If you want, you can see my videos, for example Sparring 32 blockades,Sparring black and white or Sparring in the room. Thanks

  • What's the name of the song?

  • metallica - st.anger

  • Good techniques man! Keep JKD alive in Brasil!

  • Thanks for this vid. It is very helpful. I've been having a hard time understanding the mechanics of some of the techniques I've seen elswhere.

  • I'm training JKD too n I want to ask, what gym moves is really effective for gaining attacking speed?

  • Bruce was once asked by one of his students "Sifu, how can I kick faster?" his response: "Kick faster.".

    XD

  • They say that plyometrics is pretty good for speed and power, especially in ballistic movements like punching and kicking. Try looking them up.

But yea, one of the best ways to train speed is just to practice punching quickly. The muscles will get used to hitting this way and you;ll speed up.

  • Ive been focusing on speed my whole life. The way i got fast is shadow boxing and basically punching air alot. Especially doing it with my hand open like a flick or eye jab. This will help if you do it over and over. remember its mostly in the mind. Dont focus too much on upper body strength with heavy weights. thats a good way to get slow;/

  • damn 5/5 tutorial pls

  • Looks damn good to me!
