The stray cats are one of the few bands that actually sound better live, than on disc, due mainly of course to Brian's incredible guitar playing, he is so impulsive, and so talented. Definitely my fave guitarist of all time!

Yep, he talks about that on his video about rockabilly drumming. He says it's both for the "stage presence" and to get some grip on his fingers 'cause he wears gloves.
