    @GregSolomon

Arrr yes but his mother in the fruit cellar LOL put me closer to window Norman LOL

Someone will read our copyrights mother.

Are you ashamed of your copyright issues?

    Nooo

    Then maybe I will…

    LOL

Interesting facts. I think a lot here don't put videos up for gain or profit just so we can give feedback shear thought positive and negative. WMG have gone after a lot here muting audio SIGH.

  • Hello, I'm Greg Solomon

  • Greg solomon, reporting from the jungles of Vietnam

  • greg is far more important/smarter/better lookin than zen archer

  • If the guy plays it poorly people who have never heard Led Zeppelin before probably won't buy CDs from them, that affects the market value

  • greg when are you going to be posting another video it's been too long between vids? let us know. Thanks

  • Man, the year is 2010 and I find this video quite informative. They should archive this video for all the first time users and rabble youtube keeps spawning everyday. I mean, seriously. He explained it quite clearly in that deep manly man voice of his. How can you not take this video seriously?

@GregSolomon, well done, sir. Well done.

  • My question is, why does youtube give you these copyright warnings if you are complying? Is it to cover all the people who might have links from youtube to make money

  • I really am still listening to your advice here Greg. Years down the road and I went to this video because you really describe articles 1 an 4. Today I got a call from the CMRRA ( Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency) who told me that there is no problem to use music to compliment your video on Youtube because it is for non commercial and personal use. ?

  • Hello. I'm Greg Solomon.

  • Smart man.

  • how old is gregg solomon lol

  • he was Jesus' school teacher

  • do you know iff a 14 year old can get a pipe

  • only if they have no life

  • They make you stand out and appear very wise, don't they?

  • no haha

  • thanks greg! i finally understand what is really happening.

  • Hi Greg!

I recently made a video of my friends singing and dancing to 'Dont stop me now' by Queen. I played the sound track of the song over the video for editing purposes. When I up-loaded my video I found that the audio was gone and a Notice said: This video contains an audio track that has no been authorised by YMG. The audio has been disabled[audio processing in progress} It turns out this track is owned by UMG not YMG, what can I do to get my vid up and running with full audio?

    Thanx

  • i'm just going through ol'gregs back-catalogue.

  • lol me too. i noticed that he starts out all cool then gradually gets a very loud and in your face personallity as the videos go on

  • where have I heard that name before? Greg Solomen?

  • It does ring a bell or two...

  • I totally agree with what your saying.

The doctrine of fair use clearly shows that people shouldn't be over the top otherwise things would get out of hand.

    Take care.

  • Wow...8000 videos in 90 days is 88 videos a day (no life warning)

  • well said not to mention much more smoothly said than zenarchers. zen just rambled for about 2 seconds then went into 5 minute pauses so his little brain could process the information and think of something semi clever to say although zen never really said anything clever. You on the other hand did a great job.

  • dood sounds smart... must stay away lol btw if ya read this i make guitar video's playin van halen! and now i know thats ok! lol

  • Nice job of reminding the folks out there of the Movie he was alluding to burn...Sounds like More than the Movie got burnt on that one.heheh

Btw i also had noticed he was using that song(just another day)W/O permission!!!!!

  • I'm not dismissing a point of view based on facts.

  • I honestly fon't now if this dude is being serious or being funny in the "Stewie Griffin" sort of way....LMAO

    Either way I'll SUB...lol

  • very well presented and put together, mannerisms a little distracting, otherwise you have a lot of knowledge and good points. and i find you rather amusing.

  • Sorry, but I thought his work was VERY well presented.

  • You sure enjoyed suckin on that pipe.

  • I dont dislike ZA in any way, I find him fun to watch sometimes...he does take himself a bit too serious at times though, something you seem to have in common I guess. Anyways I liked this video a lot and even though it was a bit mean I suppose, I enjoyed it (or maybe because of it? ;p)

hope you post more videos soon

  • Your a smart dude, I will be waiting for more informational videos from you about other stuff too.

  • Good video, I'll be sure to view your future videos as well. I feel bad for you though, with some the idiotic reponses you've received. Will you be discussing any of the other areas you say that you are knowledgeable of?

  • zen acher gave his dog aids, i have a video that proves it....

  • I need to get a pipe. Very Non chalant. (SP)

  • Should any copyright holder ask youtube to remove material, do you think youtube will care about "fairuse" no they won't they will just remove it. Should the copyright holder take the user to court do you think the average tuber will have the means to defend themselves by hiring a copyright lawyer? No. There are 1000's of copyright infringement on YT to which fairuse would definately not apply.

  • You can't be paid for taking care of your mother. You can't collect any social security nor file income tax because it is against the law.

  • hay greg, thanks for busting "this person" he is a bullshiter, and its great that you can slam him in such a well mannered way. thank you for bringing this person to his knees, he needed to interview his mother, his home was trashed, his mom is sick, and he never has a shirt on, so how does he have all this time to "care for mother" when he is too busy viewing another 8000 videos.........

    thanks for being on point!

  • GregSolomon, if someone gets in trouble by following your advice, are you going to say something like "sorry you got sued, they shoulda thanked you for uploading that, this is good business" ?

  • Greg, great video, very clear. Hope to hear more of your points of view soon

  • I am too a fan of ZA, I enjoy his outlook. However, I also compliment you on your clarifications. I looked into it, you were dead on. You also raised an interesting point about his music and his comment about the video he rented which made me scratch my head. However, I could care less about his personal life. BUT, one with his fame should be very careful in what he says as there are many out there who would follow it all the way to a losing court battle. Look forward to your future videos.

  • ...Stop "siding" with Zen Archer just because you like some of his vids. The simple fatc is that in this case Solomen is dead-on, while Zen Archer is wrong for purporting to know more than he does and being hypocritcal in his attitude to copywrite. Sorry, but those are the facts

  • ...If a music video or TV show clip is posted on youtube without copywrite permission, it is not theft, nor is it morally wrong: it is more like free promotion. Ergo, what Solomen was saying about the doctrine of fair use makes sense....

  • I have watched this video about 5 or 6 times now, and I find it fascinating. I think this guy is very clever and he clearly took his time to collect the evidence before presenting it to the YouTube community. I admire videos like this and this is what this YouTube site should be about, good constructive discussion. Much better that a lot of the arwful videos that are around here. I say, to both Zen and Greg, keep it up chaps, this is "exactly" what this community needs. Well done to you both.

  • Greg

Thanks for having awesome sound, to many good Vlog with bad sound

  • GREG CHECK THIS OUT

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8-L74mWZd0

  • Very interesting And Nice job Damn

  • Very interesting video, thanks for sharing it.

  • Very helpful, thank you.

  • I left a comment divided in 4 (FOUR) parts. Where are the other TWO parts of that comment? It's OK if you are having difficulties accepting that others have their own opinions. But to censure people by taking down PARTS of a comment, is NOT ok. BTW if you've got time to make that video, you surely got time to get a JOB. Right?

  • Nice vid. It's good to see another person can see past Zan Archer's insight.

  • Thanks for the information. Very well put together.

I like your facts, reasons, and examples.

  • Now seeing how your so knowledgeable about it, why didn't you tell this kid who's playing someone else's song that if he opened a inline store like a lot of them have on here and used this song to bring people in to buy, he could be breaking copyright laws, and how about the 100 other scenarios that could come into play.

  • What does him living with his mother has anything to do with the copyright issue?

  • You can download videos fom YouTube AND convert them to mpeg format. All you have to do is go to www.keepvid.com and put the URL of the video in the little box and then click enter and download it. Then you go to Riva.com and download the Riva flv player and converter then play it. Don't talk about things you know nothing about.

  • You have a very soothing voice.

  • TY for the video, it was very informative and I thank you. ZA is one of my favorite directors on this site, yet I'm not going to get mad at you. You made some assumptions off some observations.

I look forward to your future videos

  • So, I just have to ask why you feel as though you are "more knowledgeable" or "more qualified" than anyone else to speak about the specifics of copyright law.

As per your own admission, you are not a copyright attorney. TO that end, you have no more business speaking about it than I (or anyone else on youtube for that matter.)

  • Did you said you can not download videos off youtube? there are several sites that let you download from google, yahoo, rever, veoh youtube, etc, BUT the funny thing is you don't even need that, you can just fish it out of your temp files and then use a format converter.

  • http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php. They said you can download youtube here but you needed a converter *.flv or something. I don't know.

  • You've a right to your comments but you should have left the personal comments about his life out of it. I've been on YouTube for a month & have viewed almost 1800 videos, before you say anything about my PERSONAL life I work full time, I go to school full time, & I'm married with a teenage son. Some clips are 2 sec. long they count. I respect your right to what you said; next time leave out the comments about YouTubers personal life that is the major fault with YouTube RESPECT.

  • yes this guy attacked Zen about how many videos he watches, and that he stays up late to watch em...little does he know just how many of us, do exactly that, stay up and enjoy videos. In any case, take what he gas to say with a grain of salt, after all, with the glasses, the "trying too hard" voice, and the pipe, we all know he is way too "cool" for us youtubers.

  • Incorrect. Universal and Disney has had YouTube take down trailers. Please research before making such statements

  • My first reaction to this video was that you are saying that copyright laws are so difficult that there are certain lawers to work with these cases. That it's not so easy to say what's copyright or not... as you state that ZenArcher don't have any right to answer questions about copyright at YouTube when he's asked. And, you base that on your opinion about ZenArcher not knowing what he's talking about.

  • I donät think that a problem is that some one is playing quitar and singing Stairway to Heaven etc. but the problem is TV-Programs, Trailers, Cartoons etc. wich are here without permission (someones have permission but not majority)...

  • What you think, and what is fact are two different things. Google for YouTube and RIAA. You'll see how the RIAA is sending out C+D letters for this kind of content.

  • Look at the RIAA coming out and saying that lipsyncing to music or playing guitar and singing the music on YouTube is infringement. "I won't give you links as it's easy to google this information" though. If the RIAA is coming down on the musical instrument players, singers and lipsyncers, I think that the Fair Use example you used is blown out of the water.

  • On the other hand RIAA couldn't be more biased and have many times gone farther than what they have the authority to do, so I would take what they say with a big sack of salt.
