@Adestria92 the reason the first two movies sucked is because Paul Anderson was involved. Just look at how he's butchered Resident Evil. The only thing these movies have in common with their original source is a few names and some weak references. Other than that the RE movies are nothing like the games or their original storylines and only serve to employ Mila Jovovich who is, coincidentally, Paul's wife.

The idea is to make their origins seem plausible. Although I thought Baraka (who's *Tarkatan and was BORN with sharp teeth, voracious features and arm blades, he did not go under the knife) looked more like Kabal + his in-game stats don't exactly translate to a fighter with the cunning/precision of a surgeon.

I can imagine two directors on this, Resident Evil (hence the music) director taking on the city scenes and Zack Snyder doing the stuff at the tournament. That would be brilliant. Also, loved how Scorpion is the hero in this version.
Taking Mortal Kombat to the streets is great and I love the gritty realism of this short. But I still loved that "epic" feeling of the first movie (despite the cheesy effects and poor story structure). Also if they are going to a reboot, make the situation more urgent. Three homicidal maniacs are not enough to turn Deacon City into a wasteland. I like how this is very real and all and believable, but to a certain degree, some of the epic supernaturalism is good.
can I just say the web series that is kinda of testing the waters for what this could become is shit. It looks cheap but worse is that the story is going in the opposite direction than this short. This short is awesome the ideas are awesome. The new shit is just total crap.

The way I see it, Mortal Kombat isn't meant to be put forward in any sort of serious light. In fact, it may make it even harder to take seriously. I felt that the original Mortal Kombat movie, while not spectacular and despite losing the ultra-violence that made the games awesome, stayed pretty true to it's source material and was a pretty fun movie for it. However, after the abortion that was Annihilation, I suppose something new could be worth a try if this is for real.

Fantastic, that is the type of films I like and not that bullshit of fanboys sequence movies. This is real, not funny and not comedy, it's real. I beliave in this movie.
Please make this movie. It's a great idea, even if it deviates from the actual video game storyline. I really like the reinvention, it's what makes this worthwhile and not just another sequel.

Read threw a few of the comments. I read the Interview with Kevin. Liu Kang or Kung Lao will be in the movie as well as Radian but Kevin said he never really liked Liu Kang and he's already been the protagonist in the last two films and wasnt "hard-core" enough. His fav characters have always been Scorpion and Sub-Zero and he liked the internal mix war they've had and Hanzo story is so indepth... the Hero Villain type so it makes for a good story to write with.

This is a fantasy story and should be kept that way. I laughed the whole way through the trailer at the over dramatization and terrible ideas that are in this movie.

Fantastic, that is the type of films I like and not that bullshit of fanboys sequence movies. This is real, not funny and not comedy, it's real. I beliave in this movie.

Please make this movie. It's a great idea, even if it deviates from the actual video game storyline. I really like the reinvention, it's what makes this worthwhile and not just another sequel.

No what I mean is that if a film company buy the right to make a movie about MK then they can do what they want,and the producer has nothing to say.They can make scorpion a good guy,hell they can even make shang sung a female if they want .I'm just saying there is no point in making a movie 100% like the real story of the game.If you played the game then you already know what is going to happen.I think this looks better then the other movies,even if the other movies looked just like the game .

Meh >_> not to double post but also there will be a "mystic" aspect to the movie but not in the way you're thinking. Wont be any fireballs or portals. I'm thinking he'll make a few psycho characters have "visions" & hear voices. The character list will be small as to keep focus on characters background, history &/or relationship. It'll remove the cartoon aspect of the last 2 movies as 1 person stated. Other then that, Ed Boon loves the ideas...so..what else can u say, its on Twitter.

Read threw a few of the comments. I read the Interview with Kevin. Liu Kang or Kung Lao will be in the movie as well as Radian but Kevin said he never really liked Liu Kang and he's already been the protagonist in the last two films and wasnt "hard-core" enough. His fav characters have always been Scorpion and Sub-Zero and he liked the internal mix war they've had and Hanzo story is so indepth... the Hero Villain type so it makes for a good story to write with.

This is a fantasy story and should be kept that way. I laughed the whole way through the trailer at the over dramatization and terrible ideas that are in this movie.

If a portal to another dimension or realm of life opened up and sucked Earth right up into it, would you literally believe what you were seeing? Honestly, taking things they showed in the MK2 movie when Earth was being taking to Out World, yeah, something like that wouldn't happen... This is probably the most realistic and closest thing to reality that Mortal Kombat would manage to get... Only thing wrong

@djjdiss In all reality, the only part the messed up is that Baraka is from Out World, so is Reptile I believe, however they played that one off convincingly enough. And I dig the human Baraka, but.... yeah, he's from another Realm, best case scenario is, he should show up later with Shang.... but eh, I dig it, very noir- ish lol

While I will agree with you that it has a very Christopher Nolan ish look to it, I don't think thats what general fans of the mortal kombat series are into.
none the less it will be a popcorn muncher to watch on the matinee price, but thats it. I don't see this movie staying in the box office playing on more than 3 screens at a time for more than 2 weeks tops.
I may end up $1 red boxing it to be honest.

therye not humans therye everything from monsters to deamons from six realms. scorpion is from the deamon realm, i dont understand why they would make this a human street fight competition. besides when baraka was fighting cage they used bottles, that wouldnt even leave a scratch on a deamon i dont think, do you??!
