Mcginn wants a vote in 2010. They are vary dense neighborhoods, and the buses that go there are packed so badly that people have to get out the back and come around to the from to pay many times.
I can't wait for light rail in Bellevue! I'm praying for a tunnel as well... It'd be silly for a at-grade alignment with all the traffic and pedestrians (especially in 2020 when downtown will get denser).
Also on my wish list is a station at Old Bellevue or Main & 102nd to serve all the residents in the SW quadrant of downtown.
I'm really hoping Bellevue finds funding for an underground route. I know C4A is the current plan, but it's going to split light rail into two different roads, taking the northbound route away from a central location.
I'm glad the tunnel is still being pushed for. Has there been any updates on funding sources?
The C4A route, Sound Transits preferred route downtown, would run at street-level. However, the City of Bellevue prefers a downtown tunnel, which would cost more. At Sound Transits request, Bellevue will identify possible additional funding sources by October, determine funding amounts by December, and decide what additional revenue sources will be tapped in early 2010. Bellevue is currently researching potential funding sources, but there are no updates to report yet.
We still need to vote on light rail to Ballard and West Seattle.

I grew up in Kirkland and now live in Brooklyn, NY. I can tell you anything at grade is insufficient. Above ground or under ground is the way to go!
