To fix this, you'd have to invent a new voting system (CONT)

This would eliminate vote splitting, and it would empower third parties by forcing people to look at them. It'll never happen though

@alfonzo830 The tree of liberty is sometimes watered with the blood of patriots, my friend. Government exists for the people, or at least it should. I very much doubt wherever you come from has clean politics because that statement is an oxymoron. No such thing.
Still, you have to be cynical. You have to be sarcastic. You have to be critical of the people who think they're stable enough to give us direction. So stop being an ass. We'll lynch our own politicians without your judgment.

@pwnagesince1337 Its not that im lazy. I do stand up for whats right when the situation is something to stand up for. But if some kid in my class for example starts raving about how much he hates the government i'm not going to take it upon myself to try and straighten him out. I would just drive myself nuts doing that. I agree that socially our freedoms are in a way limited. Its things like that, that i would change and stand up for wholeheartedly.

Or of the corporations that they are either in control of or in the pocket of. Lets face it america. We don't live in a democracy. We live in a corpratocracy. We have the technology available to truly have democracy. One person one vote. No vote is more powerful than another, and yet we are still using an outdated system.

@pwnagesince1337 Because flat out democracy, rather than a democratic republic, is so inefficient and flammable that it simply cannot work. Everything moves way too slowly because you need the entire American public to vote on every little piece of legislation, no matter how big or small. And with a country our size, its simply impossible to get anything done that way, especially when most people have full time jobs and families to attend to. The country would fall into Anarchy.

@pwnagesince1337 In order to fix our current corporate interests government, we need to empower third parties. But that will never EVER happen with our current one round, vote for one person style of voting. The reason only two parties are ever in the mainstream is because that's the only way to ensure that the winner actually gets a 50%+ majority and is the most popular (otherwise, we have vote splitting). To fix this, you'd have to invent a new voting system (CONT)

@pwnagesince1337 One way to do that would be to force people to vote for 5 candidates (or 3, or 4) and rank them. Then award points to each ranking (number one gets 5 points, number two gets 4 points, etc) and the man with the most points wins the election. Or do a 1st round like this, then do a 2nd round where the top two point getters then go head to head. This would eliminate vote splitting, and it would empower third parties by forcing people to look at them. It'll never happen though
