No, the sniper rifle fires a high caliber round, and also, the Tarydium stinger's primary fire is scanhit tarydium shards, but they are the same as bullets for all extents and purposes.
It's one of the best weapons on the entire list and will insta kill when charged, i used to play an entire deathmatch while only using it and getting the same kill/death ration as with any of the other weapons :)
