  • I told my friend these are relatives and they started to laugh at me :)

  • Is it true that medicine for epilepsy can be produced from Rock Hyrax dung?

  • The elephant is also related to the manatee.

  • good vid,

but seriously, we don't know any other animals in the universe so why be so spsecific as to say the elephant is the largest known land mamal in the universe?

  • interesting.

  • Hyraxes, manatees, dugongs are all related. And no before some one ask me not the elephant seal.

  • يافع

  • Great video Brian, thanks for sharing.

  • i saw a jackalope once

  • @IHyRaXI what is a jackalope?

  • aha. ein klippschliefer!!!

  • cool

  • The hyrax is closely related to the Elephant, however, stating that it's the closest living relative is incorrect. Morphological and molecular based classifications show that the closest living relative to the Elephant are in fact, Dugongs and Manatees in the order Sirenia.

  • @TheEliteWolf no, an elephant is the closest living relative to the manatee and dugong. but the hyrax is the closest living relative of the elephant. they are all related though.

  • This animal is off of the movie "The Wild".

  • I bet Americans don't have an exit strategy with Hyrax.

  • you are retarded. :(

  • From my brief observation I'd say you would be related to the duck-billed platypus.

  • yes ,however its quite apparent your similiarities are similer to the lorax

  • And while I respect an opinion from almost anyone, yours is just that of the Jackass Penguin variety. No big deal though, we'll all float on.

  • why isnt the rhino the closest? dont they have more similar trait?

  • Rhino has always thought to be close to the horse. The elephant has a very similar bone structure to the hyrax. It is more about that than the actual size. Also about how the stomache operates and how the organs are laid out.

  • @briczar22 what's Hyrax name mean?

  • @1MisterAaron not sure?

  • @briczar22 how old are you?

  • @briczar22 do you think Servel eats Hyrax?

  • @1MisterAaron I would think if they had the chance to get one, they might go for it.

  • @briczar22 leopards are too big for Hyrax

  • The two are very close genetically as well.

  • Isn't the closest relative of african elephant the indian elephant?

  • No, STUPID! the closest relative to an elephant is funny looking squirrel.

didnt you hear? they share significant similarities, like, they both got good hearing and they are both smart.

    DUUUH!!!!

  • Say, is it not the elephant seal?

  • Elephant seals are seals - it's probably, as TheEliteWolf said three months ago, that manatees and dugongs are the closets, while hyraxes are close second cousins.

  • awesome job

  • thanks for watching the animal videos

  • @candeogauisus ... he said "known" animal in the universe but it would be better to say earth ^^

  • well have you seen any tall animals from mars or any other planet >.>

  • It implies we have done research on some other planets. Which is extremely minimal. We haven't looked much on other planet in our solar system, and nothing beyond that i know of.

  • lmao love to part about circus peanuts

  • Awesome!!!! I saw these up close and personal @ Tarangire NP, TZ!!!!!

  • universe !? please say earth, we know nothing about universal animals

  • i do..i went all around the universe and nothing was bigger than our elephants. Not even the big green guys on pluto.

  • hahahaha.

  • have they done DNA testing on the elephant and hyrax?

  • Great Job with the Video

    thanx for sharing

  • Haha i knew that!

I've been to Tanzania and i saw it in Ruaha national park, i also have some closeups!! ;)

  • great job

  • OMGOSH A TIGER SHIRT U ROCK... and thats amazing how do u find these things out?? plz tell me

  • Thanks :), When I do a video, I research it to decide what I will say and what I will put in the description. I get newsletters from different conservation groups, and am on different e mail list groups for animals, and use google as well. And some comes from personal experience.

  • It's very interesting. As usual, you bring interesting facts about animals to us in the video and in the description as well. Wow, they are related, kind of strange.

Thank you for the information, Brian.

  • Itchy little buggers, aren't they? Anyone got some Revolution?

And their poop treats epilepsy? Do the big drug companies know that? I wonder what they'd charge for capsules filled with hyrax poop.

Thanks, briczar. I just might win a Trivia game because of you. (;^)

  • would of never guessed, lol

  • nice video, Brian!
