peopole that starts a "religious" war... shame on all...shame on you..i dont belive in the "bible" nor anything like that but i do know a very good thing about it. It teaches peopole to be nice and good. But what do we do? we rob, steal, start a war, kill, take suicide, hurt peopole...tell me is that good?
I was a long time skeptic of this kind of spirituality up until I realze that thru meditation you can actually expand your consciousness out of your body. I know where skeptics stand, The good thing is what he is saying is provable. You can train yourself in meditation and see for yourself. Thats what I did and now I KNOW out of body experience is real. It is not a dream or halucination!
Skeptics, you do the same...choose the hard way - which is, "try and see yourself". Until then, shut up!
@websoull Why what happened when you went out of your body? Also how do you train it!!! Didn't anything happen to prove that something occurred outside the body?
Liu Xiaobo is one of three people to have been awarded the prize while being jailed by their own government. The other two are Myanmar's Aung Sang Suu Kyi in 1991 and German pacifist Carl von Ossietzky in 1935.
The selection of Liu as this year's laureate enraged the Chinese government, which has called the dissident a "criminal" .
Leaders around the world including US President Barack Obama called on the Chinese government to release him immediately
Its nice to see him talk in his own language, he is much faster and confident. I guess one should know Tibetan to understand the finer points of his lectures.
He talks about what a human being can do, these things were secret many thousands of years, It is an extraordinary opening talking about it,finding them in books now in the library when in other times people sacrificed their entire lives just to hear about it. There were many secrets that were hidden from us. When this is going to come out, it is just like the Truth that Jesus talked about .
Tibet had the most advanced spiritual culture in the history of mankind. It is the only country that preserved all Schools of Buddhism in an unbroken lineage dating back to Sakyamuni Buddha
JaPisLiar you believe some dangerous things. However, upon looking into you a little bit further and discovering the sort of materials you read, I now understand where your polluted mind has gathered its dirt. Please read other avenue's of writing my friend or your mind will no longer flow. Rather, it will become swamp land.
shmeghead: what are you claming yourself to be? Cry not loud on your reference of 'jap' that is if you want to preach anything to anyone. Or at least save it till last.
Where's your proof? In your imagination? He's helped so many find happiness in their life and even his enemies should be thankful to him and how he's used his life to benefit all sentient beings rather than cause harm. That is how we should live by the way, if you expect us to survive and overcome the ignorance of the world. Where is your evidence, or even a simple line of reasoning to support your statement?
The present top leader of Chinese government "HU JINTAO" is "Hitler" of China. (HU JINTAO is called KO KINTO in Japan) "HU JINTAO" killed over 200,000 Tibet people in order to suppress Tibet's independence movement from Dec.1988 to Oct.1992. The present China is handled by the cruel murderer whose hands have been dyed to blood. This Chinese Hitler "HU JINTAO" will hold the Olympic Games as well as Hitler did in 1936. We must recall again now "History repeats itself. "
Unless we catogorized buddhism as a Philosophy, which in fact original it's indeed a Philosophy, NOT a religion. Then may be this can be taught as a subject under the philosophy course.
Buddhism is a religion because the people want to "make" it into a religion adding those prayers, mantras etc. But in fact, Buddhism is just a study just like any philosophies (including Lau Zhi, etc) and do not require any prayers or worships. I don't know if you have heard of 'Buddha' in your heart. The 'Buddha' does NOT mean the Buddha who people are worshiping BUT it means 'goodness', 'compassion', 'kindness' and other positive attributes is in your heart.
Religion: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs."
i agree with m3kkR. not everyone is Buddhist. everyone has a right to choose what to believe.
additionally, His Holiness doesn't encourage people to become Buddhist. He says to stick with your faith and learn from other religions in order to enrich your own. But then again, he's not against someone becoming Buddhist ^__^
Hey Dalai give your heart to Jesus Christ. There is no other name given unto men whereby we must be saved.

These outbursts of violence by the Uighers and the Tibetans are the result of tensions caused by these people feeling :
1) Their culture is being eroded by the influx of Han settlers,
2) Resentment that they are being economically and culturally marginalized in their own ancestral land,
3) Treated as second-class citizens and discriminated against by the majority Han Chinese.

ahantu is right. Buddhism [and Hinduism] is a philosophy NOT a religion. Yet others view it as both religion and philosophy.
Buddhism and Hinduism are as well a way of life.
Anyone know what His Holiness Dalai Lama has to say about this? I have not heard him speak on this issue....
I just understand Buddhism and Hinduism as a way of life and philosophy NOT religion - but I could be wrong.

I disagree. It seems like that would take away freedom of religion. Plus, what do you think His Holiness would say to that?

My previous post that didn't go through...
Religion: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs."
Buddhism IS a religion. Also a philosophy.
