Just thought I would let the fans of Ragg Mopp know that my Uncle Dee "Deacon" Anderson who wrote this song was laid to rest today at the age of 86. He will be so missed by his family. Keep singing Ragg Mopp...he loved to know that people still loved singing it.
Thanks Rainbowdancefactory....I will tell Uncle Dee. He will get a kick out of that. He is getting on up in years (86) but he is still sharp and can play his steel guitar like he always has...he is in several steel guitar Hall of Fame 's!!
Deacon Anderson wrote this song. Check the sheet music. Deacon Anderson is my uncle.
We are always glad to hear and see people performing Ragg Mopp. My uncle is 85 years old and gets a big kick out of seeing people enjoying the song he wrote years ago.
My parents use to play a version of this on the old reel to reel player... When it came on, my brother & I and sometimes my parents would sing and dance around the living room. The song brought back some fond memories for me! Thank you for sharing it with me!!! :-)
I love it!!! I am calling Uncle Dee right now to tell him to check this out - my darling Uncle Dee is the "Deacon Anderson" who wrote this hit song! LOL He is going to think this is the bomb!
Mr Rich smithSWM, The gentlemen who first wrote & Recarded "RAGGMOPP" was a gentlemen named "Deacon Anderson" from Beaumont, Texas. Around late 40s to mid 50s. This version sounds more auththenic, than the rest that is posted.. In those days musicans jus got together played, & sang, & wrote songs. With a pot of file Gumbo, A cold case of beer, gives you a clear mind for music. I know, been there & done that. Retired picker Hankster, Las Vegas
I hereby issue my formal apology. these dudes/gals are having a good time playing music. i was wrong with what i said earlier. you can begin throwing tomatos at me now.
hmm.. must admit you have me there 'cause i never clearly heard the origina. first time i heard it was on an episode of MASH when hawkey/honeycut listening to song on a radio. loved it instantly. strange considering my fav. bands/singers are doors, hendrix, greenday, nirvana, and stevie ray vaughn. go figure?
to udder. check out the clip by shabbyrobe (or somethin like that) their post is cool. its so cool that i had to wear a jacket while i watched it. then again if you were then and had a good time, thats whats most important.

I checked out ShabbyRobe's version. It's really good. But where's the fiddle player? Ragg Mopp isn't the same without a pretty blonde fiddle player.
