i was watching a show where American scientists wanted to do research on whales... so they used a dart gun that took a skin sample the size of a pencil eraser, and from that they knew everything about the whales' health, age, diet, sex, growth rate, weight, and most importantly, mercury levels! So if the japs need to kill 900 every year just to learn of ONE item (diet) then how skillful are their scientists?

The Shonan Maru clearly caused the collision, it doesn't matter what their camera man or any of their people say because of course they're going to agree with the people they're working for. They had plenty of room to pass the Ady but turned right into it, hell they already caused a collision warning with the Steve Irwin earlier in the season by almost turning into them. It's their fault and they should be held accountable. Hopefully this sheds light on the horrible acts they're committing.

whaling is illegal by an international treaty, but hunting whales for research purposes is not. the Japanese have a law that states that the whales killed for research must not go to waste and can be sold. through that loophole, they can kill and sell whales. since they do actually take samples and run tests, what they are doing is legal internationally and in japan (the only jurisdictions that apply), as long as they claim to be a research vessel
