this song makes me cry :'( my dad died on sunday and beth's other song 'say goodnight' is going to played at his funeral tomorrow. i really miss him :'( rip. iain doherty 2nd december 1972 - 12th september 2010, (LL)♥
Every now and then someone posts a comment on my video and I read back over the other comments. It is amazing how much this song resonates with those of us who have suffered a loss.
I had never heard this until an episode of ER contained it. The episode dealth with Abby and a newborn who had died-they went to the roof of County General and had the baby baptized.
I cried and cried, then the scene transformed into Carter and Abby dealing with their common ground at the time-their addictions. At times like that I believe I can believe in a God, why some of us continue to struggle with life and a baby has to lose their chance at life.
It was raining as I drove the rental car back to the airport in Northern Kentucky after a business trip to Cincinnatti in the Spring of 1997 when this song came on the radio. At first I thought it was something new by Jennifer Warnes so I listened very closely, trying to figure out if it was her. I listened, I drove ...and I cried. My mom had passed away about a year and a half before. It was a magical, transformative, healing moment I'll always remember. Thank you, Beth.
Prince bans most or all of his music from You Tube, too. Most artists allow it or simply don't care. I'm a big fan of BNC, but I'm majorly annoyed with her for taking down her music on YT.
I love, love, love this song! First heard it on ER and then had to go find out who sang it so I could by the cd. She's one of my favorite singers, so many amazing songs!
God, what a Great singer, songwriter, musician Beth is! First time I heard this song was on an ER episode & I bawled my eyes out! I had to find out who sang it & here we are today! The little phrase of this song "flesh & bone, he's just bursting towards tomorrow. And his laughter fills my world & wears your smile" is my son to me! sigh!
I love this song heard it for the first time last night and fell in love with it. What is wrong with the radio stations that promote filth and ignore such beautiful music like this? Amber Dotson is another beautiful and undervalued singer AND songwriter.
a truly fantastic artist. heard her singing just before my mum passed away. had a humanist service and it felt so right to play beths songs. everyone loved the music and asked me who it was that was singing. had sand and water and i find you love which makes me cry but so happy to have found a voice which even live is great.
Saw Beth six months ago in tiny Sellersville (PA)theater- we sat very close to the stage - and met her after the show. Wonderful singer! Wonderful person!
I just booked to see Beth again. For some strange reason she is bypassing Ireland on her Autumn tour. She is playing in Belfast but I am flying to Birmingham in the UK to see her. Believe it or not it is cheaper for me to fly with Ryanair for 20 euro return including taxes than it is to drive from Dublin to Belfast. I cannot wait for the gig.
This is one of the GREAT songs, written and performed by an undervalued, brilliant musician. I listen to it with tears (again). It is so TRUE. So authentic. So clearly etched from the hard rock of her own life... Thank you, Beth. Bless you.
every so often you hear an artist who truely has something of value too share...what a voice this woman has!!!Beth is one of whose artist...simply beautiful..and SUCH AN UNDERATED MUSICIAN..:)
Beth's songs always make me cry-but the tears make me appreciate what I have. When we were painting the living room, me and my husband played her CDs and sang together, tears and paint streaking down our faces while we were laughing, kissing and crying during the songs. Thank you Beth for your talent and love and thank you Vincent for posting this video.
you are blessed you still have your husband -- lost mine so very young after 22 years -- we met very young. The Malla1976 version is so very beautiful. I cry when I watch it.
O thank u thank u Vince for this precious jewel! This song & knowing her history never fails to make me shed many tears. I still get chills too! Strange for me to be a working musician & been introduced to Beth via t.v. (E.R.). I searched as soon as I saw the episode w/her singing.
Beth , your words penetrate the chest and open the heart right out beyond loneliness and separation , into connectedness , with gratitude & love for your inspired soul work, Suzanne & thanks to you Vince , peace
Thanks Suzie, believe it or not but it is two days since the concert and I still feel the lump in my throat when I remember her singing this song. I actually got to meet her afterwards and asked her how she could ever sing such a song knowing why it was written? She said it was difficult but that she just has to let it roll off her. Her music is an inspration to me. I am glad you rnjoyed the clip. Vincent
I've seen here twice. She is a wonderful talent.

I'm surprised she hasn't taken this one down, too. Hey Beth! Someone is listening to your music on You Tube! Call the FBI.

It is the only live recording of the song and has Beth's approval. If you look at her website you will see it there too.
