You touched on a topic but didn't define it in "headship". I know you didn't have time in your video but I think you may need to go into it, because there is a lot of garbage coming out of neo-Calvinist circles (Piper, etc.) based heavily in what may be heretical anti-trinitarian teachings. Plus, as usual they focus on the Law and completely miss the Gospel picture Paul illustrates when talking marriage.
I loved the podcast, though I discovered it late (last week) and I love these videos - superbly done, winningly delivered, and the content is dynamite. Keep it up, sir, and greetings from England.
Exodus international is excellent gay ministry. I know that not Lutheran but they preach the biblical Gospel. They have many good resources. Thank you Jonathan excellent as always.
I have to ask a very Calvinistic question. If Christ's death atoned for all sin, and this includes those in Hell who are there because they refused to believe, and unbelief is a sin, then why are there any people in Hell? I can't get past that. Help me, sir. I see such beautiful things in Lutheranism; but that just seems senseless to me.
@the13thof12 It is senseless. It's the senselessness of sinners who resist the Holy Spirit (cf Acts 7:51). The miracle is the grace of God which even so saves. It's based on Scripture, not reason: taking all verses, which Calvinism reconciles by discarding 1/2 of: 1. Christ died for the cosmos, for Adam, for Adam's sin which is the cosmos's sin, and for all sins which are only a fruit from that same root. 2. Those who are in hell will be there because they choose to be.
@Revfiskj Thanks for your response. I have to admit that I don't understand. Then again, I also don't understand how Calvinists (I am one, sorta) can tell someone to whom he is witnessing "Jesus died for your sin" or "Jesus took your place on the cross". Granting my own Calvinistic assumptions I would have to ask "how would I know?". Confusing.
@Revfiskj no mention of the only unforgivable sin? the sin against the Holy Spirit, the cutting yourself off from the means of grace by rejecting Word and Sacrament. If Christ died for all sin and freely gives this gift but i reject it that does not mean the gift does not exist or is not there for me should I repent, it merely means I do not have it. God won me that gift on the cross - my options are simple - rejoice in it or reject it. Should I choose to reject I am left in my state of death
@the13thof12 Greetings brother. These verses also might help. They talk about the sin against the Holy Spirit, which is unbelief. All sins are forgiven and paid for but if we refuse to believe/accept the payment Christ has made then it is not applied but refused.
Mk 3:28-29: “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”
@the13thof12 sorry that I didnt see the comment till now. These are not forwarded. Christ died even for the sin of unbelief but unbelief is the rejection of that forgiveness, that gift. I can be given an airline ticket to Europe but if I disbelieve it is real and do not present it, I won't get to Europe. Sin is what prevents us from being in relationship with God. It must be atoned for. If we reject the atoning sacrifice, we reject the ticket.
Matthew 12:31-32: Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
So, just on the question of homosexuality and whatnot, I am just going to put up a link to an article that I wrote for the Canadian Lutheran last year on the topic. It is entitled, "Are we Homophobic?"

@proliturgy Let me understand what you are saying. Are you saying that Christ died for all sins with the exception of unbelief?

So, apparently, I can't post a link on here. I will message Pastor Fisk with it.
