This game was good. Very good. Best? Not even close lol. Love how characters join your party in this. Lots of characters to pick from is usually good, this actually had too many. People would join you for the worst reasons known to man lol. Combat was ok, but the graphics and soundtrack were the best features this game had. The opening is still my favorite opening of all time. But as a die hard CT fan, when I finished this, I hadda say I was a little dissappointed.
What I heard was that in production the Square said they weren't planning on making a direct sequel to CT, though considering how different the setting is I say they would have been better off just making this an unrelated game.
But it has so little to do with Chrono Trigger than it might as well be set in a different universe. The only connections we get a few references that could easily be edited out of the script, the game jumps the shark by throwing in an extremely preachy and badly done environmental message, and it kills off characters from Chrono Trigger for no other reason than shock deaths.
@dragonstormx I see it this way: CT affects time, CC explores the fallout from CT along a dimensional axis. If Time were the Y axis, CC's dimension jumping would be the X axis. It isn't a direct sequel, but it's still a sequel. Whether you like it or not is up to you.

And if you played Chrono Trigger DS, you'd know why she had blonde hair. (If not, go look it up on here, the ending is there.)The reason Serge wasn't related to Magus was because Guile was supposed to BE Magus, but changed at the last moment. In fact, CT DS atually ties into that in it's unique ending.
@FuctUpKid23 It was a "what if" suggestion, nothing more, nothing less. Actually the DS screws it all up. I prefer the original, Chrono Trigger in no way really ties together with Chrono Cross, infact Chrono Cross screws everything up that happend in Chrono Trigger. I was simply making a suggestion, a "pretend scenario." Honestly I enjoy both games just as they are, I feel there is no need for a "revised" version of the game, it was already good as is. DS games are for the kids who missed out..
Concerning her signing the diary "Schala "Kid" Zeal," keep in mind that either woman could sign in this manner. Lucca notes in her letter than someday, Kid will know her "true name and heritage." This suggests that Kid's proper name is Schala Zeal.
the ending of the game probably establishes Kid and Schala as different people. Schala goes off to regions unknown, while Kid promises Serge that she will find him in the real world. She apparently does and they wed, and later on, Kid reads from her diary (as Serge does Radical Dreamers) and reflects on the journey. In the end, we know Kid and Serge presumably reunited, but the fates of Schala and Magus are still an enigma.

@GamesQuest1 XII was a good game story wise FFVII had dull one dimensional characters (I'm looking at you Vincent), a cliche storyline, and the battle system was so damn slow.

the only things that bothered me about this games was that they never ever told you what happened to Dalton or what exactly happened to the masamune, They tell you that it is cursed but you never know how it turned into an evil sword
@zppoter there's a side quest on a small island behind viper manor you go to in the home world. you'll see more of the masamune there. and as for Dalton he went into that black hole thing in Chrono Trigger when he summoned Golem Boss. or maybe you mean Dario?
just an opinion. Chrono Trigger still stands out to me as the greatest RPG of all time. FF7 comes close, but doesn't add up. Games like Chrono Cross and Secret of Mana on the other hand, surpass C.T. and FF7 in music, the score for Cross was unbelievable. Not saying Triggers or FF7s music is bad, but Cross and Secret of Mana have some very very very good music in them.
@nowayimdeadlol halo is shit only a good fps, but not a great game, games like chrono cross, breath of fire iv, ff vii (for me not), metal gear, silent hill, god of war, shadow of colossus, etc etc, but halo is just an excuse to give credits to the fkn xbox

hey! someone tell me what i need to do to get the right ennding... after I beat the TD the credits beguin to roll and that's it... my party is Glenn with the twin einlanzer, Serge with the mastermune and Kid with dendorite dagger.... and I used the chrono cross element in the last battle! please someone tell me!
I didn't understand it the first time, but most artistic stories have a vague ending so viewers can make their own morals of the story. I interpreted it as Schala forever striving for to fulfill her dreams. She's looking for Serge, the one who symbolizes the fulfillment of dreams. Chrono Cross is way too surreal to be interpreted literally. When you start to analyze the themes and metaphors, the game makes sense because it's striving to be something better than just a game.
I've always thought it was a shout-out to Magus. If you remember, one of the original endings to Chrono Trigger showed Magus searching for Schala all throughout time. Moreover, Magus was supposed to play a major part in Chrono Cross in which he was searching for Schala, but this was cut due to time constraints.
Does anyone remember how Korcha asked Kid to marry him when they asked for his boat? Lol but instead he married Serge? I was thinking that Serge would marry Leena well i dunno, amazing story tho :) If you want to hear any songs from CC i have most so look thru my vids i have alot :)
It is safe to assume that Serge and Kid got together because at the beginning of Radical Dreamer (snes), the journal talk about their journey together.Just go watch it, you'll understand what I mean.
This is confusing as hell, but the game is fun, and you know that Kid Surge and most of your friends are in good condition, so it's a happy ending.
I always found it weird though that even though Kid usually wears a mini skirt, and a Cut off T-Shirt and jacket, with Pink Braids in her hair, they try to play her off as a Tomboy. Her attitude fits, but her outfit is still weird. Still that dress is more reasonable than her typical clothing.

That is Princess Schala from CT. Kid is... well... a part of Schala split off. At the end of the game they are back as a whole again and Schala searches for Serge. It's all part of the story.
Ah geez. I haven't played this game for about a decade. But I just had some random dream about it and decided to watch some vids cause I remember that I really liked it.
All I remember is Kid being stabbed and Lynx and that small girl. And serge and the pink dog thing...
So what happened to Kid? I know she fell into a coma and everything but what happened to her in the end?
She finds Serge and they get married. I'm not joking, this is actually confirmed by the creator (Kato?) in an interview and also, when they zoom in on that picture on the desk, it's a wedding picture of Kid and Serge. His head is cut off but if you look up the lost files, there's character art with him in these clothes labeled wedding attire.
That's where the confusion starts. I don't think it was ever explained what exactly happened with the Schala-Kid thing. A lot of people assume that they fused or something because the book is signed as Schala "Kid" Zeal in the ending credits.
Also how the narration kinda flips back in forth with Schala speech and Kid speech gives an indication of this.
Schala is freed and lives on in Kid...I assume. She created a clone of herself for a reason.
The ending of Chrono Cross is left to be ambiguous and subject to interpretation. It's possible Schala may have married Serge after merging with Kid, or maybe Kid took on Schala's identity and married Serge.
Whatever the case, the ending is supposed to give the player a glimmer of hope, that, with images of someone dressed as Kid wandering through that modern city through the end credits, that there might be a "Kid" looking for them out there.
What I mean is that I always assumed that the message at the end here referred to Schala's search to reconnect with Janus, but the new ending to Chrono Trigger for the DS sort of breaks that idea.
It's actually about Kid. Kid was created with the sole purpose of finding and saving Serge, a lifetime spent searching for that one person. If that's not some kind of predestined love, I don't know what is.
Actually, the ending where you have a live-action Kid walking around looking for Serge is meant to be Kid looking for you, the player (technically, your Serge). This was said by Kato in an interview a few years after the game was released.
It initially was meant to be ambigious, but since then the creators have explained what the ending means and what happens afterwards.
You can actually search for it on the internet if you don't believe me. Its pretty easy to find.
I'm sure SquareEnix is going to re-release Chrono Cross soon. Its still under SquareSoft afterall and tweak the story a bit to connect it better with chrono trigger.
Actually, orginally Janus was suppose to be worked into the storyline. Remember Gil? He was originally Janus but they changed their minds and altered his character design. Though with the new ending of CT where Janus awakens in the Chrono Cross world, things are up in the air now.

Graphics are a third for me. Plot and game play come before and they depend upon the genera (RPGs for plot & Shumps for game play).

@zppoter there's a side quest on a small island behind viper manor you go to in the home world. you'll see more of the masamune there. and as for Dalton he went into that black hole thing in Chrono Trigger when he summoned Golem Boss. or maybe you mean Dario?

just an opinion. Chrono Trigger still stands out to me as the greatest RPG of all time. FF7 comes close, but doesn't add up. Games like Chrono Cross and Secret of Mana on the other hand, surpass C.T. and FF7 in music, the score for Cross was unbelievable. Not saying Triggers or FF7s music is bad, but Cross and Secret of Mana have some very very very good music in them.

I didn't understand it the first time, but most artistic stories have a vague ending so viewers can make their own morals of the story. I interpreted it as Schala forever striving for to fulfill her dreams. She's looking for Serge, the one who symbolizes the fulfillment of dreams. Chrono Cross is way too surreal to be interpreted literally. When you start to analyze the themes and metaphors, the game makes sense because it's striving to be something better than just a game.

I've always thought it was a shout-out to Magus. If you remember, one of the original endings to Chrono Trigger showed Magus searching for Schala all throughout time. Moreover, Magus was supposed to play a major part in Chrono Cross in which he was searching for Schala, but this was cut due to time constraints.

Kid is a split from Schala and the girl in this video is actually Schala after merging with Kid... I think, then she searches for Serge.
The Home World is actually the result of Schala's search of Serge.
Anyway, this game has a complicated story but after you understand the whole thing, the confusion changes into excitement

This is confusing as hell, but the game is fun, and you know that Kid Surge and most of your friends are in good condition, so it's a happy ending.
I always found it weird though that even though Kid usually wears a mini skirt, and a Cut off T-Shirt and jacket, with Pink Braids in her hair, they try to play her off as a Tomboy. Her attitude fits, but her outfit is still weird. Still that dress is more reasonable than her typical clothing.
Wait.... why did I start talking about her clothes?

That is Princess Schala from CT. Kid is... well... a part of Schala split off. At the end of the game they are back as a whole again and Schala searches for Serge. It's all part of the story.

All I remember is Kid being stabbed and Lynx and that small girl. And serge and the pink dog thing...

She finds Serge and they get married. I'm not joking, this is actually confirmed by the creator (Kato?) in an interview and also, when they zoom in on that picture on the desk, it's a wedding picture of Kid and Serge. His head is cut off but if you look up the lost files, there's character art with him in these clothes labeled wedding attire.

That's where the confusion starts. I don't think it was ever explained what exactly happened with the Schala-Kid thing. A lot of people assume that they fused or something because the book is signed as Schala "Kid" Zeal in the ending credits.
Also how the narration kinda flips back in forth with Schala speech and Kid speech gives an indication of this.
Schala is freed and lives on in Kid...I assume. She created a clone of herself for a reason.

The ending of Chrono Cross is left to be ambiguous and subject to interpretation. It's possible Schala may have married Serge after merging with Kid, or maybe Kid took on Schala's identity and married Serge.
Whatever the case, the ending is supposed to give the player a glimmer of hope, that, with images of someone dressed as Kid wandering through that modern city through the end credits, that there might be a "Kid" looking for them out there.

What I mean is that I always assumed that the message at the end here referred to Schala's search to reconnect with Janus, but the new ending to Chrono Trigger for the DS sort of breaks that idea.
It's actually about Kid. Kid was created with the sole purpose of finding and saving Serge, a lifetime spent searching for that one person. If that's not some kind of predestined love, I don't know what is.

Actually, the ending where you have a live-action Kid walking around looking for Serge is meant to be Kid looking for you, the player (technically, your Serge). This was said by Kato in an interview a few years after the game was released.
It initially was meant to be ambigious, but since then the creators have explained what the ending means and what happens afterwards.
You can actually search for it on the internet if you don't believe me. Its pretty easy to find.

I'm sure SquareEnix is going to re-release Chrono Cross soon. Its still under SquareSoft afterall and tweak the story a bit to connect it better with chrono trigger.
Actually, orginally Janus was suppose to be worked into the storyline. Remember Gil? He was originally Janus but they changed their minds and altered his character design. Though with the new ending of CT where Janus awakens in the Chrono Cross world, things are up in the air now.

Graphics are a third for me. Plot and game play come before and they depend upon the genera (RPGs for plot & Shumps for game play).
Fun to play is rather subjective, I LOVE Contra 4 (even if I suck at it) but I know people who can't stand the thing. Hell, I even love to play Katamari Damancy in all it's stupidness.

Add your various shades of 'realistic because it's gunmetal gray & clean crap brown' and there's your 'artistic, modern, FPS in a nutshell.

Halo IS fun to play. The music is awesome and original. It gives ME a lot of emotion while playing. Plot is the most important for me. It's a STORY to be told as I act like I am the main character, even though I'm just playing. The story in Halo has nothing to do with some ancient thing awakening. It's about the origin of mankind and the battle for mankind's survival against other alien species. There are also tons and tons of smaller stories to it, battles fought in different

Halo might be overrated, but being a wannabe "original gamer hating everything that seems wannabe uber gamer" is also overrated. It looks really, really stupid once you realize that it's happening. I'm no xbox fanboy. I don't really play xbox (once a month), but the story of Halo was enough to get me interested and have me buy it, I was amazed by the plot, the feel and the music. Isn't that enough? It is overrated in the "best game ever", but I would say "best gameplot ever".

It's a decent FPS, but that's it. System Shock 2, TimeSplitters 3, Bioshock - All better games.
