my own idea as to what this song is about is simply, people wanting someone else to clean up their messes. There are several cues of this in the song including 'a scapegoat to rock the boat yeah we need someone expendable.' That line right there imho states pure and simple that yeah, people want someone to take care of the problems and then forget about them. Put simply, I think this song is about taking our heroes for granted. They save the day, we forget they exist. They are expendable. :'(
@SweetMelodyP Interesting take on it I believe the lines refer to people(politicians) wanting to blame someone for all that has gone wrong rather than work together "can we be sensible and find a way to break the fall". We're seeking a imaginary hero who is oblivious to crime(corruption) to save us. The cones represent the blindness to real issues. The thing he is holding represents the evil or corruption they blindly allow to exist but as POTF gets their attention they finally see
I want to believe that the meaning behind the video, is that the cones represent the lies we are fed every day, they keep you from realizing that the apple you hold, is rotten. Anyone else have any ideas?
It is all about this man who was cloned into triplet: Jason, Aaron, and Jeremiah. Jeremiah was taken away for "study" and the boys never saw their brother again. Aaron went on to work for the people who took him and Jason rebelled against them which broke them apart, Hence Marko arguing with "himself" and the man holding the mechanical orange is Jeremiah, he comes back finally in the end.
Why do people always find a way to bring religion into every single song on youtube?.....This is more political....Carnival of rust is more religious than this song
@HeroXofXTime21 My guess is that they say is there a hero and the fisrt thing that come to people mind is he talking Jesus.Which i hate because it ruins many songs
@MrBlackatheist it has not to do with Jesus. It is all about this man who was cloned into triplet: Jason, Aaron, and Jeremiah. They have released total 53 songs so far (from their albums + single tracks) and I must say that their 'Each & Every' song is so beautiful...in other word, it will be a very hard job to find a 'bad' song of them.. which has an 'Ordinary' lyrics.....
There lyrics has a lots of depth.. & speaks volumes...........: Yeah! This is true..:)
I arrived here through an RPG forum about suitable theme songs for Exalted.
This was suggested as the theme for the Usurpation, where the Solar Exalted were betrayed by their armies and had their Exaltations trapped in the Jade Prison. Allow me to rephrase that:
tähänki ralliin sopis paremmin joku maailman tuhoomis video ta piirretty vihree lihaskimppu kaikille niille jotka ymmärtää musiikkia ja sen pieniä koukeroita tässä suomenkielen taito ilman aaoista eli in finish rock n roll
You notice how in the end the cones are slowly being taken off the eyes of the people as they are becoming enlightened concerning what's happening in their earth? the lyrics speak of a savior & one who won't walk away or turn a blind eye to a crime as the majority of mankind has come to do. The orange held by the cone face represents the earth and he keeps spiking(drilling for oil--black gunk is the oil coming out of the earth)while the other cones are kept busy watching the fighting criminals.
I think the cones over the eyes of the people sitting down signifies the way that people are blind to what is transpiring around them and I also believe that both blonde guys singing in the boxing ring are the same guy which also means that the important government officials are always supposedly arguing and wrangling over their problems but they are actually on the same side. They just collect paychecks to seem as if they are fighting for the welfare of the countries of earth.

Their outlook on life shouldn't however stop you from enjoying their music for that matter.

@JuTuubi The Lutheran Curch of Finland is the 7th largest Lutheran church in the world. Nearly 80% of children were baptized Lutheran in Finland in 2010. The second largest church in Finland is the Othodox church with 1,1% of population belonging to it. The third largest is the Catholic church.
@dumbyeah Don't let the number blind you. Yes, most Finns are in Lutheran church but not because of faith but tradition. Based on people I know I think approximately 1 out of 20 believes what they teach. At least this is the case with young people. Finnish people are after all pretty openminded to all religions. Finland is probably one of the worlds most secular countries.
@mercygal1 I'm American, and I love this band. I totally agree with you. They would definitely get hella popular. I heard they're trying to get on the next guitar hero (or rockband?) I would love to be able to play this song. So epic!

this is like people cant c the light/the truth and then looking within there self and understand and c what is true and what is not and c the light, thats what i thought when they took the masks off
Poets of the Fall should be more widely known, I mean c'mon their music is like................eating a....hot dog.....with.....mustard???? Well anyways, they should be more than a band, A LEGEND OF VOICES!!!!! Such lovely tones and everything, unlike Lil Wayne with like, "Drugs girls weed weed weed weed pokemon weed weed cocaine weed dinosaurs weed girls MORE WEED and green peppers!" -____- Just......everyone just keep hearing their music and support them
and in the emptiness there is a solution just look within yourself for absolution is my favourite quote of all-time. Love the depth and mastery of words that Poets of the Fall have achieved.
epic..!!

@wasabimario I can happily tell that they're not. I'm atheist too and can't stand religious music at all.
