Love her voice! I would say a contralto too, her voice has more weight than a sopranos, it's quite a heavy, thick set voice with husky/smokey tones! A soprano has much more treble in the voice. Voice type isn't just defined by range because there are many sopranos who can sing in the contralto range and many contraltos who can sing in the soprano range, it's equally about tessature and bass/treble

Okay people, lemme kindly explain you guys something. Alto is not a real voice type. It's a designated choir part for people that have a darker, lower and comfortable in the middle and low register. On a more personal approach, they are either Mezzos or Contraltos. That's all.
I didnt kno keyshia cud belt a F5. It didnt sound strained or anything like that to me. I bet she cud probably go up to a G5. I would say in a choir definately an alto, but solo, she is a mezzo-soprano although she has some contralto range.
I'm no hater whatsoever but it is hot about high notes. People have a signature sound. F5 is not a part of it. I prefer her middle voice. The tone is amazing.
She still needs a bit of work on the quality of her range. sound like she gets tight on that high C. I think if she looked up to Gladys Knight more so than some of her other mentors she would be able to fix some tone problems. Although Gladys never had Aretha's high notes she has one of the most beautiful tones in soul music.

Keyshia is montone because her voice is limited to only one type of music: R & B. Aaliyah could sing blues, jazz, rock, and so on.

Ya know....I believe that....I do recall Mary hitting a high note towards the end of her song "Real Love." Some say she has a four-octave range.....on a good day.

Love her voice! I would say a contralto too, her voice has more weight than a sopranos, it's quite a heavy, thick set voice with husky/smokey tones! A soprano has much more treble in the voice. Voice type isn't just defined by range because there are many sopranos who can sing in the contralto range and many contraltos who can sing in the soprano range, it's equally about tessature and bass/treble

She doesn't have that rich Contralto timbre and she is barely a Mezzo-Soprano. I wouldn't know what to call her,. She might not have a vocal fach/type.

Okay people, lemme kindly explain you guys something. Alto is not a real voice type. It's a designated choir part for people that have a darker, lower and comfortable in the middle and low register. On a more personal approach, they are either Mezzos or Contraltos. That's all.

I didnt kno keyshia cud belt a F5. It didnt sound strained or anything like that to me. I bet she cud probably go up to a G5. I would say in a choir definately an alto, but solo, she is a mezzo-soprano although she has some contralto range.

I'm no hater whatsoever but it is hot about high notes. People have a signature sound. F5 is not a part of it. I prefer her middle voice. The tone is amazing.

She still needs a bit of work on the quality of her range. sound like she gets tight on that high C. I think if she looked up to Gladys Knight more so than some of her other mentors she would be able to fix some tone problems. Although Gladys never had Aretha's high notes she has one of the most beautiful tones in soul music.

actually alto isnt a separate when you talk about solo singing. She is an alto if you want her in a choir but in solo singing she is an alto.

Her voice is painful for me especially the higher she goes. I knew she only had 2 octaves because most of her songs sound exactly the same. I don't hear any Gladys, Gladys can saaaang anything and always sound good. Keyshia sounds like a karaoke singer at best. Thanks for the video, gives insight.

She sings with A LOT of passion and emotion. I think she sings greatly! Her voice/tone is very unique. She is amazing. She definately sounds like a Full Lyric Contralto/Mezzo..more like a Contralto.

I have been waiting for this video to happen. Some sites said that she has done a C6 and that she is a Dramatic Soprano. The video you did says otherwise.
I consider her a high contralto/low Mezzo. Her ear could be better but she sings with passion though. If she work on her ear, she could be great and I agree with Happy Larry: Gladys Knight with a lighter voice.

She sings pretty high just in chest to be an alto. I would assume if she trained her mixed voice she would be an obvious mezzo soprano.
