I don't remember my FIRST experience with a computer, but I do remember playing games on it when I was only about 3. My brothers were SUPER obsessed with video games, so when they got the chance, they went on the computer. I remember playing games like Pajama Sam and Freddie Fish. Good times. (But now I want to go back to playing Pajama Sam, and give up Skyrim and W.o.W for a bit. :D)
yeah i wanted to play with it and in order to use it it had to be pluged in from the kitchen, and it broke after that... we never got another untill a few years latter.
the first website i went on was nick.com
I also remeber when my dad brought home his first laptop, it was ment for work perpuses but i liked to play with paint on it all the time!
ahh those were the days! just sitting on the computer and playing with paint all day!
I remember our first computer but I don't remember when we got it and I didn't really use it. But then my dad got a laptop and that was the most awesome thing I've ever seen and I started using for playing games online.
my family has always had computers around. my earliest memory of one is when we had this old apple laptop that had to connect to a phone jack to access the internet. at this point though, i was only old enough to play computer games so i played snood and bugdom for hours. i never got past level 2 in either :/
I don't remember....my dad was an IT guy and my mom was a computer teacher when I was in preschool....so basically I"ve been on the internet for a very long time and grown up with It humour..... :D
I thought you were going to say 512 KILObytes of RAM. Jeez, the first computer I remember using regularly had a 20MB hard disk, though before that one we had a luggable with no hard disk.
My first computer was an ancient apple mac, it was so old that the apple sign was still rainbow, and it had no internet, we used it for making amusing pictures on the floppy disk programs
I remember using an ancient version of Word to type up stories when I was around six. I still have most of them. I can't remember using the internet until I was eight and read Harry Potter and found Mugglenet.
Also, we had Dial-up for so long that I can still hum the sounds that I would hear as it was connecting. Is that bad?
A brief history of my computer usage since day one: Mahjong, some awesome computer games that I don't even remember, barbie.com, neopets.com, about 50 different Harry Potter fanfiction sites, and now Youtube, Facebook, and Hotmail. Hurray!
The first time I used the computer was when I was 5 and I played educational games and children's music. Then when I was 9 I found out that my brother could play scooby doo because there was something called "internet". I only played "Polly" and "Cartoon Network" games, because I thought that was what it was for, and used Google for school, and when I was 12, I found out Google actually could be used for more. LOL
So the first thing to look after was naturally Harry Potter pages. I am 19 now. LOL
I don't remember my first computer, but I do remember my first video game. It was a Sailor Moon paint-by-numbers kind of game. You'd pick the "colouring page" and just like in paint you'd click a colour then colour the section in by clicking on the section....It's amazing to see how much technology has evolved.
ive always had a computer in my house, but my first memory of using the internet is looking at the pbskids website at a webpage about the show zoom when i was about 4.
ok i was wrong. i was three and it was a spiderman game. I only played on rainy days because i really just wanted to be on my trampoline. Three years ago my trampoline was broken and thats when i started getting adicted to the internet and stopped seeing sunlight. This story came from my mom. I dont remember much of anything before finding youtube. Now anything having to do with harry potter or youtube thats on the internet you bet i've seen it.
My first time on the computer was adopting a webkin. Lol. y friend toldme about Webkinz and so i went out that ay and bought one and then i asked my parents how to open a wndow. They told me everything and that wa three years ago. Nw i have a youtube im constintly sending videos and picturesto my friends and downloading music on my ipod. Wow alot has chaged scine then.
my family never had computers but all my friends did so i sold my dirtbike and i had to buy a computer myself! it was $500 out of some guys house lol and i remember having so much excitement over typing! i was 11. after a year i got bored with it as it was slow but then my dad said hed upgrade it with my xmas and bday money combined and from then on i was hooked. i think my 1st game was doom 2 (1994) on cd-rom. then came the internet! 56k modem and $30 a month unlimited downloads payed by dad :)
I was 4 when my family got a computer...and I played on my swingset and bicycle up until around fourth grade when I found a harry potter fansite and youtube.Ohh the days when I actually saw sunlight....glad thats over!!! :D
I played powder game and checked everyday for new elemaents I also played addicting games WAY too much my fav game was the one were you taught the peguin to fly then i played club peguin AND NOW i pretty much do everything Harry Potter related
1game at a time i have like 10 games on my computer but my very first computer was ten years ago first game was shogun total war i was 5 and havebeen hooked to strategy games since then
My mom brought home this one computer from work when I was 5 and she made it my own computer. I had this one cinderella game where you redecorated cinderella's palace. That was all the computer could handle
haha i got my first computer when i was 5 it was a compaq and i thought it was lame and wanted to play outside now i have a HP laptop and im always using it XD
I remember my first computer was a 1998 dell and it have Window 95... I have 4 and im 17 now so yea... It was great! I LOVED IT!!! We had it for about 3 years before upgrading to the Windows 2000 and got a smaller desktop :) I guess ive always been a computer nerd
Got my first computer when I was 5, in 2001 if i remember, i'm 14 now, it was a compaq computer made for windows 2000 pro, with a (now) half ripped cd key for it in the back. it had 512 mb literaly.
And I had no internet till about 2005 when I got my first laptop.
the first computer that i had any experiences with was one that my dad had from work and i just sat there and pressed key randomly pretending i was typing on some wierd thing with a black background and yellow font...:/ the first game i ever played on a computer was alladin but it was all mathsy (cos i sucked at maths) this was in primary school...:/
I was like 5 maybe something like that when we got our first computer and we got a picture of when we got it.It wasn't to long ago when we got it cause we still lived in the same house as we do now I remeber that we use to have a dog game and I also have an Authur game too. When I got my first computer I was 7 now I have my sister sucky viso.It sucks cause it only have 12 mins of batter.I am deffly asking for a macbook for Chirstmas this year.
Lol. I was, like... 4 or 5, and my dad came home with a computer. At night, when my parents thought that I was asleep, they turned it on and it started making weird noises. I got scared and ended up crying... Ah, those days...
I remeber the first day I used a computer.......i was like 4 or 5...........i started out with the original math blaster and jump-start.......and jumped from their to here where I use internet......that's why i hate leaving the house becuz i can't stand being without internet.......
I had no idea what computers were used for, I just knew my dad had one. Then my grandparents gave me their old laptop 4 years ago (and it's still alive) and my brother taught me how to use it.
Oh yeah i remember my first good old DOS computer, i think it was a dell but y don't really remember it... it had 256 MB of RAM and the hard disk used to make a huge noise ( really huge noise )... i used to play LBA, LBA 2, and Diablo 1 and 2 on it for countless hours... soooo old school :D. Now i'm a computer scientist :)
when i was little and used the computure i only used it to go on Paint and then when i was 9 or 10 my mum got me this horse game and i used to play on that like 24/7 then when i got my laptop what im on now and i just use my video editing maker for videos and use youtube
i used to haave a game for my computer but i cant remember the name for it be we just called it the flag game. You had to fly around these mazes to find the blue flag and try and find it before the computer found the red one. It was AWESOME! I also had lego city (i think) for the computer and it was even better than the flag game alough it would always freeze when i caught the robber lol
The only thing I remember from being little and being on the computer was that every time something went wrong I got blamed for it, so I was always very cautious of the internet and downloading things. I still am, but now I realize that it wasn't ME that was downloading anything or doing something wrong to the computer. It was my parents. I've had my own computer for about 2 years now and the first year I was off of their computer anytime anything went wrong they still yelled at me.
I remember getting a new computer when I was 3 & I actedd like I knew more about it than my parents... Within a few years I actually knew more about it than my parents. Basically I've been addicted to the internet all my life.
I remember getting a new computer when I was 3 & I actedd like I knew more about it than my parents... Within a few years I actually knew more about it than my parents. Basically I;ve been addicted to the internet all my life.
My greatest memory of my PC was the music it played when you wanted to get on the internet.... I don't even remember what I did on it... That would have been windows 95.
I didn't really remember what I did with computers till I got a laptop with '98 ... before then I remember going on it a lot... but I don't remember what I actually did on it... probably browsed word documents...or paint... I don't know
My first computer.. well I was like 2 when we got it... and it wasn't until I was about... 9 when I wanted anything to do with it. I remember telling my mom "I want MSN MOMMY!" so I got an MSN... That was funny, as my password was my name and birth year, and then we forgot it the one time I went on it. I only had one person on there anyways. And then because MSN is weird and if youre not on for a month you lose it... I lost it after a month.
I was about 9 or 10 when we got our first computer at my house. I distinctly remember my brother and I both had a lot of games, I guess at the time we were able to afford a better one, for it's time. When we eventually upgraded the monitor we gave the old one to my Grandpa and he now uses it for his audio recording that he does for their church. The actual tower part of our computer we've had to replace many times. I have my own Mac laptop which I keep in my room, it's from 2008 but it works :D
We still have our first computer upstairs, languishing in its uselessness. I'm not entirely sure it can still be turned on. But damn did I love playing Jumpstart to 4th Grade on it (the one with the time-traveling robots).
learning to play chess by watching my brother learn on a chess program when i was 3. because of this i was the elementary chess champion for three 3 strait.
i wanted a computer my entire life and had to use this crappy laptop that always had to be plugged in and had windows '98 on it. i got my own computer when i was 12 and at the time it worked great. now it's getting kind of dated...
but yeah. we used to get to use computers all the time and had a pivot project in elementary school. also last year in all the CTS classes of my grade, i was the second fastest typer. :) that's what novels do, yo.
When I was like super young like maybe one or two years old I used to play on this whacky 2D adventure game for kids. I think it was maybe 1993 or 1994.
The earliest I can remember is when I was very little and played on my dad's laptop on the cbeebies website. Actually that might have been later than the learning games in year one at school- I remember Learning Ladder! And the crystal Rainforest thingy with the wizard! OMG! (I'm 13, so all this wasn't that long ago compared to you lot)
I can't actually remember my first go on a computer but I can remember this boy having to come round to show my dad what to do, this was when i was 7/8. Now I have to show him way to do :)
My first experinces were a bit tramatizing, I forget if we had a family computer but at school we used computers for this crazy game learning thing and it had a Frankentstien charcter. I litearlly refused to play it and my teacher had to finish the level for me.
We got our first computer when I was 3, it was 1997. I can just barely remember it. We went to a gateway store and there were random cow-patterned things everywhere and I'm pretty sure that was the most exciting part, and I probably mooed more than once.
We didn't get high speed internet until I was 12 or 13, but it was really hard to watch videos and play around online because it would take like an hour for a 5-minute video to load and like 2 minutes just to load a single page.
I got my first computer back when the internet wasn't very big and no one really cared much about it. I would pretty much just play King's Quest V and The Incredible Machine. Good times.
I got my first computer in 2002. It was an old computer from the 1980s. I actually found it. For the next 3 years I typed in the numbers to keep the world from ending
I also remember when we first got the Internet, it was hooked up to an old DSL so we couldn't talk on the phone while we were on the Internet. So I only got to go on for 30 minutes a week since it would be blocking the phone line. I always spent the entire 30 minutes on the PBS Kids website playing, like, Arthur games and stuff like that. :D
I remember the old computer we used to have (which didn't have Internet at that time), and there was this game where you skied down a mountain until a snow monster ate you, and it always seemed like the snow monster came out at the exact same point in the game, and it was impossible to escape it. I also remember playing Oregon Trail on the computers at school. Good times, good times. Anyone else remember either of these two games?
my first experience on a computer it was playing wow. My friend ahd it and for the first time (i never had a computer our anithying like it ) i played wow and that was my first expereciene :P
my first experience with a computer was: I used to live in a trailer at the time and we were renovating, we had two bathrooms, we renovated the bathroom in my parents' room and we removed the toilet and put the computer and the desk over the hole. LOLZ
Haha, my first experience was my parents bought this horrible revision bitesize game thing that me andmy brother had to both spend at least 30 minutes a day doing math one day, english the next, science the next, so on and so forth. :) It was horrible, we hated it. A few years later, my parents went out and left my grandma to babysit, she fell asleep and me and my brother snapped the disk and blamed the dog for knocking it with its tail and standing on it accidently. Best. Day. Ever! :) xxx
my family had our 1st computer w/ internet when i was 9...it took so long for the internet to even start up that i had time to go watch an episode of doug
We got our first computer when I was 8. It was my grandpas and he had no use for it so he gave it to us. The thing never worked and it was slow. I don't miss it.
I got my first personal computer when I was 14, have a Dell laptop now ( =_= ), but the first computer my family bought was this big bulky desktop that I used a lot to play JumpStart games, I attempted a writing conest with Reading Rainbow (anyone doing NaNoWriMo now??), and I learned how to type through it (JumpStart Typing!). Good memories. I latched onto technology then, still don't care about learning the specifics as long as I know how to work the basics =D
this chick reminds me of a girl i used to date. once she starts talking all i have to do is go what, oh my god! unbelievable! get outa here!... she's cute tho' (this one)
well it isnt my first experiance but it is most defiently one of the most rememberable and it must be the same as so many other people SCREAMING AT THE COMPUTER TO FUCKING LOAD then once it did IT WOULD FUCKING STALLLL!
My mom has had a PC since way before most people had them (we have computers from the late 80s laying around), but I think I was 2 when I was allowed on one of them. I think I went onto the Barney website or something silly like that, and I remember crying really hard when the website had games that weren't compatible with our computer. I didn't really get into the computer until I was 8, when I discovered neopets...
My first computer was my dads crappy laptop in like 1998ish and it got soooo hot that you could hardly touch it. I loved it tho because when we went to Hawaii I spend all my time on it playing ocean Barbie... Ahh, those were the days..... :)
My dad is a computer nerd so ive had a computer since before i was born, but the one that i can remember is the Bondi Blue iMac G3. I used to play games on it all the time i even have a picture sitting in front of it XD
Ok now I feel really old. My first computer was a ZX8,1I was 13 and it was half the size my keyboard is now. 16kb of RAM no hard drive you had to load each game off a tape witch would often crash half way through.
next I had a ZX spectrum, it was about the same size but with 48kb RAM with the same tape loading method.
Now this pc that I built Is only my 3rd computer, big gap in between 2nd and 3rd. I built it in 06 and that was also my first time on the web, haven't looked back since.
We've had a computer since before I was born. My dad worked for gateway. I really didn't care much about it either. We still have the computer, it's just sitting in the dust and once in a while I just play frogger on there.
The first computer I played with was an old laptop.. it had windows '98 and I recorded my voice and the TV, I had so much fun with it, although now I think it was just plain stupid, haha xD :D
My first computer was an Amstrad CPC 464 boasting an monochromatic garish green display, 64 kb of RAM, [yes 64 not 640] and a whopping 4 mhz processor yes megahertz :p I am 22 now and I got it when I was 5 and I learned to program in BASIC on it. Oh and it used Cassette tapes it didn't take floppies.
My dad's a computer geek, so I pretty much grew up with computers. He installed a game on there when i was 3 or 4, just different puzzles and coloring book and stickerbook kinda stuff, all looking a little 8bit. I LOVED that game. xD He was even crafty, and made me learn how to type my name by making it the password. Didn't get my OWN until... 9th grade? And even then had to share it with my sister.
My mom called me in from outside and when I walk in there it was our new family computer that was very slow she explained that I need to be careful around then I asked if I could go outside our second family computer was a laptop I was so excited then I got one that was from like 1998 that didn't have Internet and was also slow now I have a netbook and it's awesome
Our first computer was a Commodore VIC-20, which my dad bought about a year before I was born. The first computer I remember however was an IBM XT. It had an Intel 4.77Mhz 8088 processor with an 8087 math coprocessor, 640KB of system RAM, the "new" 746KB double-density 5.25" floppy drive, 4-bit 16 color EGA graphics, and a Seagate 30MB Hard Drive (which was an upgrade from the standard 20MB hard drive). Big difference from a lot of people, and I'm only 26!
My first computer that i remember getting was when i was in kindergarten and it was christmas and my older brother screamed "we got a dell!!!!!!!" and i asked "whats a dell" The funny thing is.... that same computer... is the one im using now. yeah, i got this computer 10 years ago.
My first computer (that I can remember) was a HP Multimedia computer. Came with 600mb hard drive, 1 floppy drive, cd drive (which was optional), 32mb ram, 4mb S3 video card, 1 PCI slot (the rest were ISA), 75mhz pentium 1 processor, DOS 6.x with windows 3.1 as an option, and a 14.4 baud modem. I think I killed the motherboard though after an attempt at resetting the BIOS lol.
The very first computer I had to myself was one of those old Macintosh's they came out with in the 90s. Then I had a Windows 98 for my brother and I to play games on. I was totally into The Learning Company back then lol. The only time I ever used the internet when I was young was to do research for papers and things like that. Then I got a Yahoo account and spent a lot of time watching music videos. Then came Myspace, facebook, and youtube aka the end of my life as I knew it.
My family probably got a computer before I was born, I don't know, I vaguely remember I think when we had windows 98 or something, I also have a pciture of me when I was like 4 getting a "Pajama Sam" CD-ROM as they used to call it, I also remember Tonka and I even at like 7/8 I was OBSESSED with Sims (though it wasn't always QUITE 4 my age range!) Oh well!
Uhh... Now, a family computer, I've ALWAYS had. My whole life. The first computer I ever owned was a Windows 98 a few years back. It was my Mom's, then it was my brother's, then it was mine. My Mom then gave me an emachines computer. Then, finally on my bday last month, I got me a laptop with windows 7, which I am using now.
we got our first computer when i was 8, too. i was excited to use it, because my dad had a really slow laptop that he never let us use but i really wanted to. unfortunately he was programming stuff for like all day so i was practically tearing my hair out...
I remember when i was 6 we had toughs thick IBM laptops and all i would do on there is play who wants to be a millionaire and one day i accidentally stumbled upon IMs of my dad's mistress. My parents divorced a few months later now i wonder why. Yeah my first computer experiences were interesting. haha
my family got our first computer back in 1997 when I was 6 years old, it had windows 95, and I remember we had this one game on it called "Flags" and I used to play that game for hours and I remember thinking how cool microsoft word and microsoft paint was lol then sometime that year I discovered the internet and I remember how confusing I thought it was.
my parents already had one when I was born :) from the time I was four from the time I was eight all I did was play Freddie the Fish LOL then I found out about the internet, all I did then was look up anime crap, now all I do is get on Myspace, Facebook,Youtube, and HP XD AND I HAVE A LAPTOP OF MY OWN NOW!! :D
omg I totally remember freddie the fish. my dad's job was computers so I learned to write programs when the screen was still black with green writing.
i was about 2 when i had my first experience with a computert, and my dad says i was immediately talented at using a mouse... which never stopped, in about the year 2000, i had my first internet experience, and all i did was go to those little game sites... :P
First time on internet was 1993 and I seached for WAD files to Doom. I fell in love and a couple of days later I found this chatroom where I talked to people all over the world. I still have friends from that time. My first computer experience was from the 80s then my friends had a amiga 500 and we played Giana Sisters and Bobble Bubble like forever... whose were the days...
I remember the day we got it, I was in year 5... probably about 9 years old. I woke up at 5am the next day, before the rest of my family so I could play tetris uninterrupted. I remember specifically daydreaming about going to an international tetri-playing competition and winning! yeah, that never happened. but it was definitely an exciting time
@Lauen324 I remember adiboo as well.

Don't remember my first experience... I was kind of a 2 year old. I do remember playing this game, "Addyboo" on it when I was little, though...

Even once we got web access, I almost exclusively used FTP for a while.

i used to haave a game for my computer but i cant remember the name for it be we just called it the flag game.

Ridiculous.

Haha, my first experience was my parents bought this horrible revision bitesize game thing that me andmy brother had to both spend at least 30 minutes a day doing math one day, english the next, science the next, so on and so forth. :) It was horrible, we hated it. A few years later, my parents went out and left my grandma to babysit, she fell asleep and me and my brother snapped the disk and blamed the dog for knocking it with its tail and standing on it accidently. Best. Day. Ever! :) xxx

First time on internet was 1993 and I seached for WAD files to Doom. I fell in love and a couple of days later I found this chatroom where I talked to people all over the world. I still have friends from that time. My first computer experience was from the 80s then my friends had a amiga 500 and we played Giana Sisters and Bobble Bubble like forever... whose were the days...

computer=games! aka tetris, chips challenge etc.
