  • She plays this like a symphony orchestra. Beautiful...

  • Alicia , la gran maja del piano

  • great interpretation! The vivace bar after the last trill: WOW! Her fingers go vivace there indeed!... wow!!! :)

  • Who is playing?? Granados himself or Alicia Delarrocha??

  • @tammycocar1 Alicia is playing.

  • Oh, this is perfection! Stunning.

  • pure magic! She was a conjurer. Such atmosphere.

  • Wow...until just now I'd only seen this piece printed on the page, and having sight-read through it I was rather confused and not too keen to polish it up. But after hearing this performance, I just can't understand how I ever thought badly of it! Gorgeous!

  • Nice to hear Alicia again this evening!

  • gorgeous piece, perhaps my favorite of Granados I heard her play this live at the 92nd Street Y many moons ago

  • @TJFNYC212 También a mi me gusta mucho esta obra. Me emociona. Llevaba tiempo sin oirla.

  • encanta... muy lindo

  • She was the best for Albeniz and Granados, especially ' Goyescas", RIP dear Alicia.

  • The song "Besame Mucho" written by Consuelo Velasquez (Mexico) in 1941 was based upon "Quejas O La Maja Y El Ruisenor (The Maiden And The Nightingale)", a piano piece from 1911 of the Spanish composer Enrique Granados.

  • @nohoghettoarmo i find each piece quite different, no resemblance at all.

  • What is it about this piece, and de Larrocha's playing? It's just 6 pages-- and every time I hear it, Alicia hypnotizes me. I think it has something to do with a blending of sadness and joy. She makes a big box of levers and hammers SING.

  • This piece is breathtakingly beautiful. The pianist really did it justice. I will be searching for more by Granados.

  • j'aime beaucoup

  • this piece is beautiful as spain herself.... the mysetry that spain evokes, its grandeur, the monasteries, the cathedrals, the alcazars.. etc...... spanish art to its highest level.......

  • Thanks for posting!

  • I am ashamed that after 45 years of listening to pianists it is only recently that I am really beginning to appreciate this wonderful artist. Having looked at the score it seems to me that she follows every dynamic & tempo indication but the music evokes a scented breeze through cypresses. May I ask one question to any pianist reading this, the trills in bars25 & 26 appears to be written in thirds. It does not sound to me as if any pianist plays it that way.

  • @morhywaden check Rubinstein's version, I think he does trills in thirds

  • totally gorgeous: tone, interpretation, everything!

  • @bridrice Besame Mucho was inspired by this song :) and i kinda do taste the hints of besame mucho in this song...

  • @ponkiller Wow! You are right. I can't believe I didn't hear it before. Thanks for that.

  • @bridrice lol i read it on wikipedia and i listen to both and i do hear a slight similarity :) i think thats pretty kool!!

  • @ponkiller you're right there is a faint hint there, I agree

  • besame mucho

  • This should have a 100x more views, soo amazing.

I'm going ot play this for an audition, I think.
