I found it interesting about what the DJ guy said about the delay, making it hard to mix. How is that caused? is it the length of the wires to the speakers so the sound has a long way to travel to the speakers, or the speakers being a long way off, the sound takes a little while to travel through the air back to the DJ, or a combination of both?
delay can be caused by multiple things including effects, processors, x-overs, external EQ's, and also routing the dj mixer through the house mixer would create a delay. it all varies depending on setup, and it would take tons and tons of cables to create a delay.
if u are cheaking 1 deck in the headphones, and booth speakers with the main mix coming out and mixing to the booth speakers, what ever comes out of the main house speakers would seem to be mixed properly, but if u just use the house speakers to mix, the mix would be off time. what i said first u wouldn't even have to worry about the delay.

I have Djayed in large halls and large venues like this and the only way to mix properly is throught the headphones or a monitor or booth speaker very close to the DJ.

Am I righ in saying, as long you mix through your earphones, or booth speakers, delay should not be to much of a problem.
