    the full vid!

  • im so proud of my sister kei phillips for her animation work on this video especially the fairy tattoo you must be so chuffed love you x

  • @camille8578

the animation for this short film is brilliant! Props to her. Do you know how long it took to do the whole film?

  • i will ask her tomorrow and then post her reply..my two kids love telling their friends that their aunties fairy is on storm lol ...at least one of us has some talent...lol

  • @camille8578 well what did she reply? :D

  • This is gonna be so unbelievably cool. Not entirely sure where jbrisby's getting their particular shade of bile from, but judging on their repeated invective against this video I'm gonna go ahead and call TROLL.

  • @hexachordal its already out, dipshit.

  • Storm is my favorite of all Tim's work. Really looking forward to seeing the whole thing.

  • 1 day to Go !! :D

  • oops, *premier

  • It's gonna be on youtube on April 8 according to the blog. Though, then again, that was posted on April 1st...

  • @TheFartoholic It's true :D I'm so excited. According to Tracy King small bits have been improved since it's premiere at TAM London so it'll be a bit new to everyone :D :D

  • Comment removed

  • Don't worry, it's worth the wait. I saw it at the premier last year in Bristol and it's bloody fantastic!

  • I can't wait to see all this :D

  • I can't wait for this!!

  • Why don't people look at the url in the video and in the description?

"...but if it’s not on YouTube by the end of March that can only mean something went horribly wrong." [10 March 2011]

    So excited though! xD

  • can't wait, it's gonna be so awesome

  • @sarkasmi83, according to the blog, they're still holding off putting it up in the public domain.

  • Has this project been iced totally? :(

Too bad, I just got excited about it just to realize there hasn't been any progress in a year now...

What happened :( Damn shame really, if it's not coming out. All the previews look great.

OR is it ready but just going to release it with the next Minchin DVD? :) I hope that's the case.

  • pleasepleasepleaseplease can this be released in youtube already?!

  • Just because most alternative medicine is quackery doesn’t mean the drug companies are not evil immoral and driven by greed.

  • @sikok93453 in the economy, you either maximize profit, or you will lose all your stockholders' support

it's not the companies that are evil, the system.is

and to be honest, the current free-enterprise system, although not perfect (far from it), it still works

the reason is,well, greed is good. in maximizing profit, companies will have to improve quality, supply the demand and such

the system doesn't have the ability to take care of everyone, but for humanity as a whole, it works

  • @ericon52168 This "system" you speak of was created by a ruling elite with our unwitting support.

That being said you seem to come from a very privileged life with comments like "the reason is,well, greed is good. in maximizing profit, companies will have to improve quality, supply the demand and such" and "the system doesn't have the ability to take care of everyone, but for humanity as a whole, it works"

and to be honest I'm not in the mood to explain why you're wrong.

  • @sikok93453 you seriously think the "free market" is a conspiracy? "created by a ruling elite"?

    lol

that is more like monarchy or theocracy, and you know free market is better

maybe you didn't realize that i'm not really happy with the free martket system, i'm more of a communist myself, but i'm just stating the facts

put words in my mouth as you like

but if you cannot point out the reason i'm wrong

you are not really contributing anything to the discussion

  • @ericon52168 how did I put words in your mouth when I copied and pasted what you said?

  • @sikok93453 yeah, you're right, let's hope you keep that up

i think i said that because you misunderstand my stance on this one

first of all i'm not coming from a "very priviliged" llife

i'm just stating the fact that free market is working

    it is

don't tell me you didn't buy a single commedity in your life

that was my point, and it seems i didn't point it out ery clearly (or at all)

    yeah sorry for confusion

  • @ericon52168 One: Anything beyond food and water could be considered a commodity. Two: I don't understand what the myth of free market capitalism has to do with my initial post of pharmaceutical companies largely driven by profits.

  • @sikok93453 i don't get your 1st commodity line i'd have to ask you to clearify a bit (srry english ain't my 1st language)

to your second point, "myth" of free market? i thought it is a fact legimately taught in college

and suppose this "myth" is true

then you cannot blame pharmaceutical companies on "playing with the rules"

    btw i'm

glad we are having a genuine disccusion (something rare on youtube

but i'd suggest we continue this matter on PM

i don't want to flood the board here XD

  • @ericon52168 perhaps my definition of commodity is different since I see anything beyond basic human needs both physical and psychological as superfluous.

As to a free market being a myth - I would google free market if I were you - it's dangerous to have unregulated products seeing as tobacco companies add all sorts of chemicals to cigarettes to make them addictive.

Just because "free markets" are taught in college does not make them facts. Only makes them taught. One does not mean the other.

  • @sikok93453 Evil would be a stretch, and I would not say they are driven by greed, it just plays a part. They seek to my profits, sure, but all companies do. You're viewing this with too much of a black & white mindset. A company doesn't have to be giving out free cures for cancer to not be evil. Without profit, jobs would be lost, and funding for research would be reduced. Money made ultimately returns to benefit the consumers. Companies are still made of people; they aren't a separate entity.

  • @smexijebus One profit is what is left over after R&D - taxes - employee pay - etc

Two what does money even have to do with it? Just because we use money doesn't mean we always have to or always will.

Three there is a clear distinction between those who do it primarily to help people and those who's primary goals are to live a comfortable life at the expense of others.

  • @sikok93453 umm just thought id butt in here. most of the western world operates under a free market, overseen by the government. its mostly free market though.

also, R+D takes up profit. most profit is invested back into the business to help it expand, i.e R+D. if businesses didnt spend their profit on themselves, they would never grow as all they would be doing is covering their costs.

and money will always be in use, its the most efficient way to trade and provide incentive.

  • @Neylonx doesn't there have to be a market for it to be free? As is stands it's more a corporate oligarchy.

Who would a country less planet trade to? Provide incentive for what?

  • @sikok93453 i meant most 'western' countries in the world domestically operate mostly as a free market. Also, what did you expect? only big companies can make exporting cost effective.

i dont think you understand international trade, exports and imports are just domestic and foreign companies selling their goods in supermarkets, etc in other countries. if there were no other countries, their goods would still be sold there as there is demand for it.

incentive to do crap but necessary jobs

  • Looks fucking great.

  • please guys help me...where can i find the finished video...or is it not finished yet :/ xox

  • @sexymcrbitch

No it’s not out yet(or finished) if you go to your website I think they said they’re looking to release it sometime in 2011

  • @sexymcrbitch

oops sorry it is finished just not out yet my mistake I was thinking of another video I’ve been waiting on

  • @MysteriousStranger88 awww okay thanx for the help eheh BLESS YOU xoxo

  • @IFaZI Thanks, that's what I found out later, the movie should be released on Youtube in a few month from now, since it will be first presented in several festivals (premiere was in Bristol this thursday, Nov 18th).

At least, I'm glad to know that the project reached a successful ending and wasn't abandoned! :-)

  • @IFaZI Thanks, that's what I found out later, the movie should be released on Youtube in a few month from now, since it will be first presented in several festivals (premiere was in Bristol this thursday, Nov 18th).

  • Ouch, website suspended... I hope it doesn't mean the project is on hold, I was so expecting to watch it... Any news??

  • @ShamWerks Apparently the youtube release may be as late as 2011 (reasoning for this is unknown since it is finished and it has already had its premiere (which was apparently last night)

  • Why is the website suspended? I didn't think was done yet, I was hoping for a countdown or something, but all I get is a single line of text.

  • 13 people got butterfly tattoos just above their behind.

  • I'm not looking forward to this. They've taken Minchin's brilliant poem, ripped out its heart, and crapped in the hole. Ugly ugly ugly animation.

  • @jbrisby Not looking forward to it? Don't watch it then mate ;]

This animation already has Tim's blessing, so you might aswell try o enjoy it.

I know those two sentences are conflicting, but such is life.

  • @IFaZI Have you EVER seen an actor go on TV and say that the director made a lousy film? Of course not. Now there are two possibilities. It is possible that Tim hates the animation as much as I do, but he's not about to slam a product that will increase his own visibility. It is also possible that Tim is no more a connoisseur of animation than you are.

Parasitic hacks. They are the bane of every artist.

  • @jbrisby Fair enough mate, you do have a point but i still think you should give this a chance. What is it you dont like about it? Is it the art style?

I like vectors and im intrigued by this animation but im gonna have to wait and see?

It could turn out shit or it really could do Tim justice, and to be fair thats quite a challenge as they need to do a hell of a good job ;]

  • @jbrisby You suck.

  • It's November already! I'm so eager for this to be finished!

  • Well, I didn't think so before, but maybe this movie is right... it is wrong to put chemicals into a body and we should go back to nature.

  • @terminatoreggs This isn't what this movie is promoting. In fact, it is the complete opposite.

  • @galfyproductions Damn, can't you read between the lines a bit? This guy is obviously fooling you, and you're letting the terrorists win.

  • @sybo59 Let me be the first to say... WTF?? o.o

  • @IFaZI 1)"read between the lines" -- he was getting trolled without realizing it.

2)"the terrorists win" -- by responding, he was giving the troll exactly what it wanted.

A little abstract perhaps. Your "WTF" cuts like glass, brother; I'll try not to ever confuse you again.

  • @sybo59 It was too early for me, sorry =(. Loving the sarcasm by the way.

  • @terminatoreggs Troll....

  • does anybody have any idea what the plans are for general release of the movie? Is it going to be freely available on youTube???

  • It premiered a few days back at TAM - or so I hear. Now I find myself checking almost hourly to see if it's up on youtube yet. Can't wait to do my bit in making it viral.

  • @robynmoody Man, you must have been waiting for this video for awhile!

  • when is this being released?

  • @irishgeal1 should watch this. b/c she laughs at people who get chemo.

  • Cannot wait to see this! :D

  • When this is finished, I think it will be my favorite video ever. It's incredibly powerful already just watching him on stage or the words on the screen, but with an exceptionally well done animation behind it? I feel bad for any new agers I might argue with in the future.

  • does anyone know when this is going to be finished? looks great so far :)

  • @autumnkitty31 Supposedly this month...=)

  • I can't wait.

  • @shadowxwhisper thanks i'm prove of that

  • Not sure about the subject matter but cool animation.

  • Man, I'm looking forward to this. Your style is inspiring!

  • i love how most of the people that comment try to sound so smart and then only sound a little pretencious. amazing poem though i can listen to it over and over again if you like this you might like dan le sac VS scroobious pip - thou shalt always kill. : )

  • Is this a project endorsed by Tim Minchin?

  • Comment removed

  • storms a 10 min poem nd a movie based on a 10 min poem lol

  • i've been following this for ages, including reading the blog. But i still just don't get it. Is this an animation to go along with the poem or is it like a long-ish animated film which keeps elements of the poem????????

  • so umm.. i love storm.. but i dont understand.. is this just a music video/animation.. or something more?

  • I also thought that this version of the poem was boring... it just didn't feel like it was trying to tell you anything. The ones that were done live had passion, and laughter, and were a million times more enjoyable to hear. I think Storm is an absolutely fantastic beat poem, but this one sounded like it was being read by a drone from a script.

I don't want to be too harsh, cause I love Tim Minchin and his work.

  • Get that full video out NOW xD. Absolutely great. Tbh, I love the poem as it is. Adding this to it will just be the cherry on the cake. Thanks :)!

  • Diplomacy Dyke. Wonder Woman?

  • When's this coming out, then?

  • I'm not sure if the US gov has any regard to our feelings, good or bad. But they do listen to the people, and the people want cheap food. And they have responded with cheap food. Isn't that enough for you people?!? lol...

  • Linzy, please ask Tim to use the live vocal instead...it has more of that beautiful venom...this sounds like he didn't quite have enough wine beforehand

    Still love it though :)

  • I hope this version of poem is not used, as this version has NO emotions by Tim. Please don't use this version, pretty please?

  • @ITheChild I hope it IS used. Excellent work so far.

  • When is the full Animation coming out ?? not just the trailer

  • Oh shit I wanna see this so bad!

  • Can't wait to see this movie when it's finished!

  • omgfg this is so awesome, cant wait for the full movie! best wishes!

  • cant wait

  • When can we expect to see the full version?

  • Very cool

  • Very nice..... Tim is a legend!

  • THIS IS GONNA RULE! I'm so excited.

  • interesting i like the animation

  • Am I the only one anxious to see the depiction of Storm herself?

  • omg is this for real?! I fucking hope this comes to the IOM, if not I'm going over to the UK to watch it!

  • This beat poem is amazing and so is Tim Minchin. I can't wait for this to come out.

  • Can't believe I've only just come across this...it's wicked! Can't wait to see the full version

  • Awesome! I love this beat poem!!1

    Yay!

  • This looks brilliant. Really looking forward to it.

  • when does it come out?

  • Is this vid supposed to not have sound? I've been getting a lot of vids with no sound on youtube. Thought I'd fixed it but this one still has nothing.

  • Looks amazing. I'm a big fan of dynamic text like that, and I couldn't help but giggle at Tim's cartoon persona. Can't wait for it to be released.

  • This looks awesome! Can't wait till it's released!

  • YAY! I'm all excited now :D

  • love it, can't wait.

  • You know what I like?

    Vicodin regular. It works great.

  • Vicodin is awesome. We can't get it in the UK, sadly.

  • Yes we can - it's called dihydrocodine.

  • @stormmovie please tell me you are tim

  • @036265 I believe associates of him working on this with his blessing.

  • @stormmovie unless you get it on the internet from .... i think we should live in natural remidies

  • This looks aweesome.

    Yeeees.

  • I Cannot Wait For This!

  • LOL Love the animation Tim!!!

    CANNOT WAIT

  • cant wait

  • if only time machines were invented.. The future needs to hurry up a little bit more.

  • i can't wait till october. *sob*

  • @bareakon

My birthdays the day before Tim's, which is in October 8D (his is the 7th, if you're interested! :D)

  • I can't tell you how awesome this is

  • I do not want to know how you're gonna animate the "carve "fancy that" on the side of my cock" line!!! XD

  • "a man has a right to his own opinion, but not his own facts" - mark twain.

  • Thank you for this quote, it is fabulous!

  • @fraserdldavidson

Are you sure Mark Twain said that? I seem to recall Bernard M. Baruch having an extremely similar saying.

  • @ChainX you might well be right, im a shocker for remembering stuff like that. either way, its a great quote.

  • @fraserdldavidson a man can surround himself with advisors just so he can say he looked in every direction before making the wrong choice- unknown that ones good too lol

  • nice typography :P

  • Linked from motionographer-- I'm always jazzed to see people in my field that have a good compass. Keep it up.

  • Fluoride in water is perfectly safe and very beneficial for teeth. Perhaps you are thinking of fluorine.

  • Some rat poisons contain Fluoroacetamide, which contains the unsafe form of fluorine. Fluoride is a safe form of fluorine. The "establishment" cares about your teeth for the same reason it cares about your life in general (bad tooth health can kill). Did you watch the whole video? It is generally unusual for someone to be skeptical about alternative medicine but paranoid about the government and health scares.

  • Life expectancy in the USA is longer now than at any other period in history (although we are from the UK, where we have free healthcare, the govt certainly does care). "Organic" is a marketing label. There is no evidence organic food is healthier, and pesticides are still used in organic farming. People in the west now don't die of infections because of things like fluoride.

  • @davidleeco "People born from 1980 forward will not live as long a there parents do to this problem"

Well there's a bold prediction. So we should expect someone born in 1970 to live as long as someone born in 1980 perhaps?

  • Dude, @davidleeco, I don't like getting into YouTube arguments, but I'm going to have to interrupt this one to point out you lose a great many points for grammatical and spelling errors. If you can't care enough to get your point across correctly, your point can't be cared for.

  • Not to sound high and mighty, but if you're going to have a debate regarding something that requires educated responses, at least attempting to uphold proper spelling and grammar is a good idea.

Now that that's out of the way, the pesticides used today are more highly regulated than they used to be. Also, as stormmovie said, there are still pesticides used in organic farming.

  • Taking pride in the fact that your opinion isn't popular doesn't make your opinion correct. Being contrary on purpose simply proves that you are uneducated on the matter and stubborn. What's happening here is that you are basing your opinion on assumption and, apparently, conspiracy theory. Big Brother? Really? I was unaware that we were living in an Orwell novel.

  • @skeptacular1 But we are. To a point; we lack personal responsability to our self-development as a global community, and it's just easier to follow along or support a conspiracy theory. Although I never think we'll reach the obvious-ness 1984 does; in that books it's almost broken down to baby concepts, less subtle than today.

  • You're an idiot if you honestly believe a statistic you just made up. The reason your opinion isn't popular is because it's stupid and wrong. The more you resist people trying to educate you, the stupider you look.

  • ignorance is not a point of view.

  • You cant seriously be suggesting that because you think if lots ppl believe something, then its wrong, then the reverse is also aplicable. Thats not how statistics work. If anything, you sprouting nonesense about something and then saying that is true because people disagree, is just as truthful saying that only a few thick people believe that say fairies exist and thus they do cus lots of people disagree. Learn how to use statistics, let alone made up ones, before you try and use them.

  • @Rartvel statistics are by definition, true. The bullshit to which you refer comes from how people infer things which aren't true from statistics (normally without questioning how the statistic came about), and a selection bias in statistics which are re-communicated.

Believe the statistic, but not the implication

  • @dddeeefffONgmail you made that rhyme a bit you clever person you! :D

  • @Ratvel - preliminary studies show 100% of morons agree with what you say.

  • Hahaha you must drink a lot of it.

Ever seen Dr Strangelove? Watch out for those commie bastards eh! lol

  • Those deviated preverts!

  • @davidleeco, well I'm confused. You're anti-"Big Brother", but you'd like to ban high fat foods? Using simplistic terms like "Herd Mentality" also tells me that you don't really trust people to make decisions for themselves. Congratulations, you have taken 2 highly confused steps towards endorsing totalitarianism. (Maybe you shouldn't believe 99% of what you read on the internet).

  • @davidleeco lol "population control"..why would this world conspiracy do it in the western world where the population is growing old and having less and less children and not in 3rd world countries where families have 7-10 children...hm? and by the way, obesity related deaths..it's not the gvnment telling you to stuff your stomach with chemical fast food crap

  • @davidleeco you cant get margarine in the uk

  • @stormmovie I like how everyone cries conspiracy over fluoride in drinking water, but have no problem with the use of chlorine(Usually hypochlorous acid to be more specific) as a disinfectant for drinking water and swimming pools. Chlorine gas can kill you in a few short breaths and the by product of the reaction between chlorine and water also cause some health concerns at certain levels, but since chlorine is used for pools and since pools are fun, then nobody gives two shits about it.

  • @Eyewash03 However, If we didn't use chlorine to disinfect the raw water then you run a high risk of contracting diseases such as E. coli, Cryptosporidiosis, Cholera, etc... I am a water treatment plant operator in the U.S. and I find it amusing that people pick flouride over chlorine as a scape goat for health problems and what not. Flouride is safe as well as Chlorine.

  • @Eyewash03 While I don't disagree with your overall point I have to take exception to your unqualified use of the word "safe". Neither Chlorine OR Fluoride is 'safe', it is just assumed to be harmless, or at least we are TOLD it is harmless, by the regulating agency that determines what is and is not an acceptable level in our food supply. If the benefits of 100 people not getting sick from e-coli outweigh the detriment to the 1 person who gets cancer we call it 'safe'. It isn't safe.

  • @davidleeco I think you should probably go and do a bit of reasearch about this... Dentistry is a HUGE cost to the country, so saying 'since when does the establishment care about our teeth' is just rediculous. Any idea about the chemistry of water fluoridation? Yes, fluoride can be poisonous, but please look into the quantities used in water (1ppm). Also, have a look at how much it can reduce dental caries in populations. I'm a dental student... go and look up some journals.

  • @davidleeco retard
