@DarkArwen929 BABY STEPS!!! Root notes are your Messiah for your first few months. Say what you like about bass, but once you understand what it is that makes a bassline funky (which can take years) you'll never want to pick up anything else again. Good luck :D

As far as I know I'm no virtuoso, there are thousands of 'better' bass players than me on Youtube. I'm just passionate about the instrument and it's use in various genres.

@sparklyeyes123 - Start simple mate; U2 or AC-DC would be a good way to start, but obviously try and emulate the bands you're into (I wouldn't recommend starting with RHCP or Jamiroquai etc... too advanced!)

Secondly, don't bother with any theory at the moment; it kills the passion for young musicians, however maybe get some lessons just to get your fingers walking, slap bass technique down or even pick-play right.

Then just get some tabs off of Songsterr and go for it!!!
