'English teachers are bitter twisted people, failed writers mostly' (1 hr 11 mins)--though he qualifies it by saying not the ones that buy his records!
three cheers for robert wyatt!!! possibly the single most influential artist among my friends & me. his music throughout his brilliant career demonstrates the value of honesty & humanity in art & music, & gives us hope on such occasions as the charlatans seem poised to ruin music yet again! they never succeed, because they're in it for the wrong reasons. robert's poise, honesty, sense of humor, humility & effortless wisdom inspire us all. (listen to me ramble on...that's the charlatan in me!..)
thank you so much for this! Robert is a true genius of our time. ps - I don't think he was joking when he listed Janet Jackson as someone he listens to, despite the laughs :)
unfortunately, i have to agree about the female interviewer. i think she means well, but she's definitely out of her depth. robert is, as you point out, exceedingly patient and polite, as we would expect.
This is wonderful, Thanks for positing it! Robert Wyatt is a true original and becomes the heart and soul of any creative venture he's involved in . .
this is one very creative, brilliant individual. Thank you for posting it. Been listening to Wyatt for 25 years and this is the first really in depth interview i have caught with him so far. Robert, ever need a shakuhachi track on a CD, please call me :)
Robert Wyatt n'est pas un trésor national, quintessenciellement anglais, quintessencially british, mais devrait appartenir au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO
Mobile phone are a nuisance. They impinge on other people's enjoyment.

Robert is great but the female interviewer was a bit much.
She tries to sound intellectual, but Robert is polite and rolls with it.

Well, I liked the girl interviewing. She seemed quite sweet to me.

One of the longest videos I've watched on YouTube and one of the most entertaining.
What a nice guy. Very ordinary but engaging, enlightning, amusing and genuine.
A musical genius, but still human thank goodness. A great antidote to so much of the "music industry" today.
