The Dr. Octagon album cover was illustrated by Pushead, the same artist that did most of the Metallica album covers. Automator's manager used to manage Metallica.

Also, the black dude in the sunglasses on the back of the album cover is a (then) homeless dude named 'Jimmy'. He lived on the street near the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco, right outside the Automator's manager's office.
