  • Tammi Terrell was so young when she died, and Marvin Gaye got killed by his own father, his OWN father! I listen to this song everyday

  • where is 0:15 come from? Id like to see/hear a full interview of her

    Thanks for this

  • Thanks for telling me where they were. I always wanted to know. Also, do you know where they shot the other footage of them singing this song? The footage where she appears to be standing on something. These two are the only two pieces of film footage of them other than The Tonight Show. Just think if someone comes up with some more footage for their #1 fans!

  • This video was shot @ the Disneyland theme park in 1967 @ the Tommorrow land section. If you pay attention to the background you will see the "people mover tram" also look at the phone booth their standing next to. It's all futuristic looking which is what "Tommorow Land" is based on....

  • @Motownman100, they do sound similar, but I think Tammi's voice is a little lower.

  • Don't you guys think her (speaking) voice and a little of her singing voice resembles Diana Ross a little bit? or is it just me ?

  • Her speaking voice was just as cute as her singing one.

  • Tammi Terrell was the most beautiful and most talented singer of the 60's. She had the whole package, looks, talent, and sex appeal. Diana Ross would have been in big trouble had Tammi lived. I could see Tammi going far in the business, doing B She was one of a kind and I always will adore her. I hope David Ruffin and James Brown rot in hell for their mistreatment of women.

  • she was too much funny!! ;)

  • the video was shot at the Montreal Expo in 1967, May I think.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for this post!

  • the interview isfunny when she said tha's personal,but i'm proud i'm 21

  • Go to my page and you can hear the rest of that excerpt of her speaking. It was only about 40 seconds. You can also hear a couple of her live performances on my page.

  • @samw292002 thank you!

  • Poor chick died in 1970, Wow long time, so young RIP, SWEETY..

  • I've never heard her speaking voice...not even Marvin's! I wish we had more footage of Tammi :/

  • Thanks PynkSapphyre for the information about the footage of Marvin G. and Tammi T. I was under the impression that all of The Tonight Show episodes were filmed. I checked and found out that their appearance on The Joey Bishop Show was not filmed. Wishful thinking, I just wanted to see more footage because they were so charismatic, and I was too young to remember any of their limelight events.

  • difficult to believe that they were'nt lovers, marvin admitted that he cared deeply for her, did'nt do music for a while after she passed.

  • i have never heard her speak I'M SPEECHLESS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS REALLY !!!

  • So THATS what Tammi sounds like!

  • I think that he was definitely in love with her. I just don't believe that he could look at her like that and not be.

  • Does anyone know where this video was shot? I have only seen two videos of Marvin and Tammi singing together. Also, does anyone know why there seems to be no footage of Tammi with or without Marvin available anywhere. I would love to know why. I know filming was being done during the sixties and even before then. I really expected to see some footage on UnSung but only pictures and they seemed limited.

  • @mmemmorry, I'm writing about Motown and have been in touch with one of Tammi's biographers. There's only the two taped appearances. In the 60's not a lot of "live" shows that aired on TV were taped. Also, this song was mid 1967, by late Oct. 1967, Tammi stopped performing due to her illness. Her dying so young wasn't something anyone at Motown could fathom, she and her label believed she would get well and perform again. Otherwise, I'm sure there would be a lot more footage.

  • good stuff!!!!

  • its so sad a brain tumor took her life because it kinda affected Marvins life also he went into a depression and got addicted to drugs which ultimately led to his downfall and death so sad...

  • @BabyELimited, thanks for posting this. I had never heard her speak. She sounds so cute!!! Is there more of this documentary somewhere? Can a person buy/find this on eBay or Amazon.com?

  • nice couple,

  • damn marvi u shouldve wife this fine specimin of black loveliness

  • @mrpapafunky7879

I'm sure he wanted to. I think he had a thing for her. And honestly, who wouldn't? He took her death very hard which leads me to believe that he was in love with her. His life kind of went downhill after her death.

  • @fsugirl98 He didn't perform for four years after she died and he made and kept his vow to never have another partner

  • @Geezyone - Well not really, he and Diana Ross did an album together that was released in 1973. But they didn't have the chemistry that he had with Tammi.

  • @alovely yeah he couldn't stand Diana and he would piss her off smoking weed around her while she was pregnant. When she would send folks in to complain he would say "F--- Diana Ross" so they recorded in separate rooms.

  • Love you Tammi - great clip, thanks for sharing

  • Undoubtably the greatest duet in music history. Great chemistry.

  • whoaa. never heard her say anything before. anything else like this?

  • That's kind of love is rare these days.

  • Tammi Terrell is way better than Beyonce. Tammi Terrell is legend in 10yrs from now. who beyonce. Beyonce sound like a he/she. when he/she perform live.

  • I made the same observation long time ago when I first saw the poster for I Can do Bad By Myself that Taraji P Henson should play Tammi in her movie

  • tammi actually talking, thanks for this!

  • Exceptional post, loved the mini documentary

  • Wow! This is awesome! I never knew her talking voice! She sounds a bit like Flo Ballard when she talks.

  • i've heard flo talking on recordings alot, its like anything with tammi that was audio or video, just disppeared, except for her music of course.lol

  • @LaDiaFerguson

If they didn't save it, it is lost forever. I've heard when companies folded, alot of stuff was sold off or just tossed in the trash or, they have the audio and lost the video or have video and lost the audio. Unless family and friends or fans have stuff in the basement they forgot about the company that bought the now defunct company she worked for, most stuff won't be seen.

  • she actually sounds like beyonce in her role as etta james.

  • I really wish there were more interviews with her. This is the 1st time I heard her speaking voice. She seems so funny and energetic and obviously beautiful.

  • Taraji Henson reminds me of her.

  • She was so much more prettier than Taraji. Sorry.

  • @deep71483 Taraji can definitely play her in a movie

  • taraji could still play her,she looks the most like tammi.

  • yes ! they should have a movie about tammi, and she would play as her.

  • taraji should play her in a movie.

  • This is Motown at its best! The tension and release in this song is just amazing... the song just builds and builds and then explodes and then it does again...brilliant...

  • My favourite duet EVER!!! Thanks for a great post. 10/10

  • she was sexy, vivacious, playful And cute at the same time!

  • TT was beautiful

  • Thanks a bunch for the upload : ]

  • wow i really love this footage i really wish there was more of her interview and more information about her

  • @Tierra0817

Me too. I've found stuff on Wikipedia, but you'd have to google and go from site to site or try that new Bing site and see if it will give specific info. I hope that helps.

  • they both died much too young, read vicke wright and ludie montgomery's bio on tammi, you'll love it,including the pictures.

  • Two beautiful people! The Lord took them early but they will be the first I look for if I get to heaven.

  • this video sent chills up my spine when i heard them sing. ther will never be another tammi and marvin!!!

  • I love the Marvin Gaye's duets w/ the lovely Tammi Terrell. She was a very pretty and talented young lady.

  • This is my 1st time hearing her speaking voice too. I really, really, love Tammi Terrell so much. I spent hours on top of hours trying to find footage of her talking and being herself. I've read that she was a fun and a energetic person. But I want to see it for myself if you know what I mean. Anyone out there have footage of Ms.Tammi please post it thx.

  • its weird to think that they are both gone now:-(

  • WOW- I pray that recognize this lady - she was brilliant - I would love to see a moview about her life - this women had a little attitude - she was funny - very confident, pretty and a outstanding singer.

I just love this lady - RIP - but i wish you had live just a little longer.

  • nobodys heard her voice before? how is this? i've heard her speaking voice sooooo many times before its not even funny!

  • Really? You have? I would love to hear more from her... ;-)

  • look at deedy06 comment and you'll see how

  • @BabyELimited

She was on the radio a lot, back in the day when variety shows and whatnot were still big advertising dollars, and most of her singing performances were accompanied by an interview. Mororcity Berry even used to put his signed acts through ettiquette classes so that they would sound good in interviews. I'd imagine that not very much of that radio audio has survived through the years, sadly.

  • you have?? how is this please respond

  • look at deedy06 comment and you'll see how

  • Oh cool...

Okay I guess I could listen to album online...

I just wish that I could get the Complete Duets Cd... ;-)

  • @BabyELimited its avalble for 8 dollars on amazon the complete duets

  • @kiddiequeenofmotown

You gotta realize a lot of this stuff has been in the vaults and if they played once in the 60s and you didn't hear it, you didn't know. I'm amazed they have this. Most times I've heard record companies have lost/accidentally erased gems like this. I often wondered outside of singing, what she sounded like and now I know. She seemed very cute and fun to be around.

  • Wow, this is the first time I've heard her speaking voice!

  • @kiddiequeenofmotown Really Where??

  • you haven't? i have heard it many times before. that shocks me girl, i thought you heard everybodys voice from motown!lol!

  • I've heard it a few times. You just to get the CD Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell: The Complete Duets.

  • motown gold

  • Thanx for this BabyELimited, it is rare to even hear Tammi voice, I just wish it was other interviews of her on audio & on tv shows of the 60's on here but really thank you this is great!

  • THanx for posting this rare gem - for me at least!

  • wow this is great, its very rare that you'll hear Tammi's voice.
