Always liked Flem but 9 tons with 45 50's in tests... man that return guts me, should have had a higher average too..... just making an average of 40 means he never reached his potential in my opinion, When he was in form he was awesome to watch! Frustrating though
@NJCof83 Yes I agree. For a change Murali was bowling the ball rather than throwing it. Had he thrown the ball a few times he'd have chucked Fleming out a long time ago.
@NJCof83 Yeah, he was throwing up some dollies! This match was part of a series to raise money for the tsunami appeal in 2005, with $5000 donated by the NZ government for each 6 hit. Sri Lanka was hit hard by that tsunami, so I guess Murali had a vested interest in how many 6's were hit.
The next day we had "Fleming tames Muralitharan" as headline in our local newspaper!!
He was so majestic to watch! And the GM bat sticker suits him so much! Along with Marcus Trescothick cant think of a player for whom the GM bat looked prettier!!
Been a few years since he retired but still have a poster of him in the corner of my room. It reads - CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS!
My bad that i missed Tugga on the GM appreciation list!! He is definitely up there!! I started watching cricket 1998 onwards as a 9 year old so unfortunately could not watch any of Martin Crowe innings live!! Had hopped to follow his comeback but injury did not let it happen!!
@9fernandotorres flem's my favourite as well i really like his elegance but i thnk this charity match was kinda fixed, warne & murali wer bowling pies at him..probly cos the game was held in nz... fixed mite not b the right word but im pretty sure they wudve had an understanding
@DoubleDown200 Have to agree with you. Maybe Warnie and Murali were talking it easy. After this innings, whenever Flem faced Murali I assumed he would get better of him. But it didn turn out so!!

Looks rigged..never seen Murali bowl so many half volleys, all in the slot. Good striking though.

@9fernandotorres GM bats were always my favourite! Fleming, Crowe and Steve Waugh - my heroes in the 90's.
