I have to agree: although it's not really a sadder place because of his voice, George has clearly lost the effect he had during 80s and especially 90s, which I think could be compared to Michael Jackson's effect on his fans - this overwhelming feeling of seeing him sing. I surely still have "an overwhelming feeling an hearing him sing" , that will last forever. I think he did a good job in X-factor and was glad to see him.He even gets more classy when he gets older and is still very handsome so I don't see " a current state" at all.

You also must realise that Georges voice either live or in the studio goes through a series of mixing that Elton never had back in the days! They had shitty mikes,mixers,monitors,etc! Hell George is sitting there mixing his music on the fly as well as at the technician's board by his crew! how about the song tonight by elton or sorry seems to be the hardest word! Watch elton live in Russia way more range than George! Don't get me wrong I love Georges voice but in Eltons prime there was no equal!

kotisan,Elton is hardly a recluse,wasn't he selling himself to a Vegas crowd most nights until recently? As for George,yes his voice has changed a tad(as did Eltons with age) but i attended his last 3 shows and he hit falsetto's i didn't think he'd risk live at his age.....George had an amzing voice to start with and even when it changes(evolves) due to time or lifestyle,its still some amazing voice...most of my favourite ever vocals from GM are in his last 4-5 years...but his peak was 91-93

Elton doesn't write the songs...Bernie Taupin is his songwriter, it has been like that from the begining...George writes and sings his songs. However, no one can play the piano like Elton!!!
