I've owned both Ford and GM since owning several new or newer POS Chryslers and have been happy.

I understand that all carmakers have issues Chrysler's are just above and beyond ridiculous not to mention their unwillingness to stand behind many valid warranty claims and take responsibility for serious widespread safety defects (more than even GM and Ford Combined).

The accelerator on my Dodge RAM 1500 unintentionally and unexpectedly became fully engaged resulting in sudden acceleration. Chrysler has refused to even conduct an investigation. I think this is a drive-by-wire problem based on the symptoms. There's no way it was a floor mat problem.

Yeah I've also got two videos on sudden unintended acceleration with Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Nitros (I'm sure there are others). Chrysler has said on their blog in reference to allegations and Toyota Tundra SUA that these claims are "baselss" and by these standard they also do not believe the Toyota SUA issue is even possible either. It's funny how everyone is going after Toyota (which are made in the US) like Pitbulls but not an Italian (FIAT) owned Chrysler for their SUA.

My first car was a FIAT Strada and it looked like a Dodge Omni with round headlights. The gas mileage was great, but the reliability was poor and the body turned to rust b/c of Soviet steel. Hopefully FIAT has improved their own product if they hope to do the same for Chrysler. Honestly don't know what FIATs are like, but have not seen anything Chrysler assembles now worth crap besides their RAM and Challenger. Still not buying one.

Unfortunately the articles I've read say that FIAT is pretty much dead last in most quality and reliability studies and surveys in Europe and that FIAT is basically the Chrysler of Europe.

I honestly believe there is no way FIAT can really improve things at Chrysler and FIAT is just using Chrysler as a vehicle to once again try and bring their vehicles to the US market. Daimler has a lot more automotive experience and couldn't fix Chrysler's issues so to be honest I don't see how FIAT can.

FIAT stopped importing their products to the U.S. in 1983 b/c they were so piss poor in construction, engineering and quality. Americans expect more out their cars because, for better or worse, we live out of them. My in-laws are from Brazil and they're told me stories about what they put up with there from car companies. Most won't even warrant electronics past six months. My father-in-law found this out when he had a window motor go out on his Scenic. About $500 in reapirs on a new car.

I agree and that's true, Iacocca also wanted to make their vehicles safer which is why he put in a safety team for their minivans headed by Paul Sheridan who was later fired and sued just because he pushed for upper management to make their minivans as safe as the competition (which was actually what he was hired to do) prior to Iacocca leaving and Eaton taking over.

Iacocca also issued a goodwill warranty repair program for Ultradrive issues, that program was later axed by Eaton.
