I feel actually sorry for the dowsers and people in this episode - They probably genuinely think they have these special powers, so to go on Randi's show and be demolished must come as a bit of a shock. Some of the reasons they give for their failures seem more like they're trying to rationalise why it didn't work to themselves.

I suppose if you're of a certain disposition, it could be all too easy to persuade yourself that, for instance, there was some mystical force moving a pendulum.

But listen: I do not believe any of these fake psychics or their trickery, unless scientific information is there, but all in all, if it works it works. Even if it only works because the people think so.

You are talking about the placebo effect, but as we are talking about an illegal substance and without controls, ie the seeds are in the packet with the rest of the thc and may be contaminated with it, you can really draw a strong conclusion. This is the sort of thinking Randi advocates.
