ALL engineering AMD samples are read by CPU-Z as an opteron. This is because before AMD cpu's are branded, they are tested to see if they fall into the opteron standards. If not, they become the mainstream desktop part.
cpu-z... its a free program that tells you the information about your processor, ram etc... but its not an overclocking tool. you can overclock using the bios or there's a tool called setfsb. however if you don't know the right methods for overclocking, then i don't recommend you to overclock since you can fry your processor or your motherboard by not doing the right steps for overclock.
@XDSmashinBabiesXD No it is not better than the i5, maybe at that speed it is, but clock for clock the intel i5 and i7 are better. But bang for buck the AMD is where its at, and For gaming i5 and i7 don't really have any kind of edge until you start crossfiring brand new ATI 5870s. And even then its only a few fps in crysis at 2500 res.

well i ve overclocked my intel celeron p4 1.8 at 1.9 it was stable but since it goes to 1940-1950 my call of duty 2 crashes or warcraft 3 too temperature is around 35 then and think it is stable why does it happen is there any fix for it ' i know that p4 are very overclockable :)
It says Opteron
Dopeskiski 6 months ago
@Dopeskiski Not an opteron. Look at the socket. This is what all Phenom II engineering samples showed up as before release in cpu-z
Slappa 2 months ago
and opteron uses socket g34 which is a server motherboard and the phenom uses am2 am2+ and am3 sockets
jeenormus 6 months ago
but thats an opteron not a phenom a different chip all together
jeenormus 6 months ago
@jeenormus No, it's not.

What are you using to cool this?

Wow, what a dumbass. You just typed an entire paragraph that doesn't answer a single question he asked.

lol putting ice in it so u are playing games and putting ice in pc :D?
Dra60oN 2 years ago
Dry ice to be exact.
And no, you wouldn't game with it.
It is not a permanent solution....only used for overclocking.
Slappa 2 years ago
So what is purpose of overclocking ? To impress some1...when u can't use it maximally
Dra60oN 2 years ago
The crazy overclocks with cooling solutions like this are just for fun and pushing technology.
However, with air and watercooling, you can still overclock and keep your system 100% stable. You gain more speed at no extra cost :)

Dude, buy a new processor. 1.8ghz is like....too frakking old. Let me guess, is it single core? It's not even worth it.
Mrmoc7 1 year ago
@Dra60oN the purpose of ocing is too get more from your CPU for the buck

go for another buket of liquid nitrogen
8RUT4l 2 years ago
is that stable 24/7 and did you just increase the multipliet and voltage and what cooler are you using?
K1asH3r 2 years ago
Again AM2 processor and a Opteron...not a Phenom II 955...
ChrisHoyt 2 years ago
Where does it say anywhere in the title or video that this is supposed to be a 955?
It's not AM2, and not opteron, that is just how cpu-z reads the unknown cpu.
Slappa 2 years ago
It's an ES
Slappa 2 years ago
And all AM3 processors are read as AM2+ by CPU-z
