There is no way that an exact date can be given for an EQ, volcanoes yes, maybe a weeks warning but EQ are totally different. I would love to meet a seismologist that can give a specific date for an EQ, they would make a fortune! It is overdue according to the historic data though.

The bigger the city, the bigger the damage. Here in SoCal/Mexicali, we had a 7.2 quake with only 2 deaths (occuring in Mexicali, the biggest city around here)

u should look at the actual facts once this earthquake happens cuz its gonna happen according to many scientist, the fault is gonna cause for the side of los angeles to slide down not up because of the way the tektonik plates are moving. ive reaserched this so u cant tell me other wise.

The San Andreas has gone off who knows how many times over the life of this planet. The result can be seen in the Los Angeles basin; that's what has grown the mountain ranges...

Actually, the data suggest that California, i.e. the San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Monica Mts, & other coastal or near-coastal California mountain ranges, are rising up faster than they are being worn down. When large earthquakes happen, pieces of Earth's crust can sink, but other pieces can rise as well.

So, California sink underwater? The data states exactly the opposite.

What happens after the big one well yes more lil earthquakes again til another big one hits which is like approx. 500 years or so.... Pangea never stops thats just how the whole world is..... because these earthquake wont just happen in cali but throughout the world..... Just like history all all the landmasses were once together now is all scatter and it will continue im afraid so =(

The San Andreas Fault "big one" may not be the most deadly earthquake to hit southern california in the future. Check out the Puente Hills Fault. This fault runs RIGHT UNDER DOWNTOWN LA and experts have determined that this fault is capable of unleashing a 7.0-7.5 earthquake. Can you imagine a 7.5 centered right under downtown? Worst case scenario: they project 3000-18000 deaths and over 250 billion dollars in damage. Google the Puente Hills fault for more info.

somehow the big quakes dont do damage in the near cities but in cities beyond 100km+(if i it a good quake above 7.0)

There was a program on earthquakes in New York and New Jersey. They said we can also get large earthquakes ranging from 5.0 to a 7.0 or larger. They are rare but they do happen here. Nothing here is earthquake proof. Can you imagine the death rate here? They say we can have one within the next 20 to 30 years!

When I was at cal state bernardino I could walk to the San Andreas fault line about 200 metres. It was about 10 feet deep. It had a sensor to take measurements. Oh yeah the big one: We had that on already. In 1996 of August there was an Alaska earthquake which set off the fault line in California. San Francisco and Los Angeles rocked during this earthquake. It was felt all the way down to Louisiana.
