WARNING. Foreign professionals in engineering and medicine once in Canada are told to go back to school. Canadian employers DO NOT recognize foreign credentials. In Canada you have to start all over again from scratch. Unless you are desperate, STEER CLEAR from Canada. I talk from own experience.

Beware of the advertisements for immigration to Canada. There are currently 1.8M unemployed (9%) in Canada. Studies show that immigrants have only 20% probability to find a job, employers ALWAYS choose Canadians first and foremost.. Immigration lawyers only want your money. They don't give a shit if you find employment or not. Credentials are good for immigration, but once in Canada they are worthless. Don't believe me, send your resume and watch how many times you receive response.

I thought you couldn't go over there unless you had at least $10,000 U.S. as a means to support yourself for at least six months and if you can't find work before then and you don't meet any other requirements to stay then you get kicked out of the country?

True you need $10,000, but you don't need employment offer. What nobody tell you as an applicant, is when you cannot find a job and your money run out, you must find ANY job to survive. You have many options: laborer in factory, pizza delivery, cab driver, etc. Also nobody tell you that as an immigrant you will be discriminated by employers, so you are trapped forever in low wages jobs. You aren't kicked out because you become a nice cheap laborer, this is what they want.

@reuven1967 Well they won't get that from me. I will shortly be a certified LPN who speaks multiple languages. I could go anywhere in the world and get a job. I just like Canada for the people and culture. It would be nice to have dual citizenship.

What really aggravates is that many of the Indians immigrating to Canada aren't needy at all, they are privileged members of their own society and some even have servants, yet they think they should be able to come to Canada easily and do even better than in their own land. That is called "greed" and should be blocked. If someone is doing better than average in their own country, they don't need to leave.

Wealthy Americans don't immigrate to Canada. Sure, Canadian citizens who worked overseas and want to return should be able. I object to the assumption that Indians and others expect to be admitted to Canada with the greatest of ease and feel as if this is their country. I was born and raised in North America, I don't expect to be able to waltz into India or any other country without qualifying.

@Cubatraveler After some thinking, and some reflection. I just wanna say, look, there's nothing wrong with Indian's coming to Canada. Like with all people, there's good and bad. And, for a long time, I had a negative impression of Indians. I was so sorely wrong. I think that if you give them a chance, and give yourself a chance, I think you'd realize that they're really not so bad at all. I mean, go walk into one of their Temples if you can, I'm sure you'll find hospitality and kindness.

There are no decent jobs for immigrants in Canada. If you are a skilled worker and come to Canada chances are that you will spend years or your whole life in poverty doing survival part-time jobs. Unemployment among immigrants is four time as high as among native born Canadians. And most of those who are "employed" are actually UNDEREMPLOYED. The whole Canadian immigration system is a SCAM to benefit corporations and businesspeople with cheap labour and also lawyers and politicians!!!

@MoonOvIce Not really, I'm a Bi-racial Canadian with an immigrant father and I can tell you that Canadians are really very tolerant and accepting as a culture, at least not in my part of the country. There's regional issues, like ppl in the prairies are often racist towards natives and obviously you're going to find bigots in this world. It's just that this is the youtube comments section and youtube comments are like bathroom graffiti not necessarily the best angle at which to look at humanity.
