  • Ow Leslie Dowdall...!!!

  • brilliant

  • I saw them for a couple of songs when they supported SimpleMinds at Ibrox park in 86 . Hipsway and The Water boys were also support acts. A great day out with far too much alcohol consumed. Waterboys stole the show...

  • @Iclimbthereforeiam That was a great gig, Waterboys were brilliant!

  • Cracking looking bird. The music was pretty crap.

  • Clearly you weren't allowed to stand still back in the Eighties.

  • I really love those parrot earrings :-)

great song, they supported U2 in 87, great show

  • Beautiful girl

  • can anyone upload the B-side of this Ballad of (Irish Love) please....been looking for it for ages, thanks :)))

  • Memories memories. The violin sequence around 2:20 is still spine-tinglingly beautiful after all these years.

  • Such a great band - I was glad to be there back in the 80s.

  • too bad Island dropped the band just as they finished to record their first album, which still remains unreleased. An 8-track compilation of singles and b-sides was released here in Italy and I'm so lucky I bought it because it's really amazing, an epic tale of blood, love, passion, magic and mystery... The albums they managed to release afterwards were too "american" instead, if you know what I mean

  • excellent stuff!! In Tua Nua

  • Heel mooi die electrice viool...... Heb ze live meegemaakt in het voorprogramma van U2 in 1985...The Joshua Tree tour in Belgie/Forrest Vorst International !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cos it was my fav and i cant find it

  • Great song and a special performance. Heard this group for the first time in about 1986 and then promptly forgot their name. Thank goodness for YouTube - watching and listening to all my favourites from the Seventies and Eighties and the name came back to me. Great song and wonder if they're still around?

  • I remember seeing these support Simple Minds at MK Bowl in 1986 - good memories!

  • Furniture Fan I agree but now here( In ireland) AS YOU KNOW its either trad music of Celtic music mixed up in other ways..I love the sort of purity of this( not explaining it very well LOL)

  • such an irish sound you dont hear that now..in the same way..

  • That's your personal tragedy; these days, everyone listens. Éist!

  • Saw them think was 84 at Slane along with Bob Dylan, Santana and UB40 (not sure who else) In Tua Nua was best band there by a mile

  • Great song and great performance!

  • Wasn't this band discoverend so to speak by U2 or by Bono? Not surprising, there's at least some similarity.

  • Wow, remembered seeing this on tv, long time ago. Made a deep impreesion!

    What happened to this band?

  • that was a great concert, the work-aid concert to promote home jobs in Eire.

  • Man, Leslie Dowdall was so hot and a great singer and performer to boot. I had a major crush on her when i was a kid...

  • saw them twice in Rotterdam in 87, supporting U2. Later that summer I went to Cork for last U2 concert in Europe for Joshua Tree.

Went into a pub/club and there they were. Went for a chat and got invited to see gig upstairs later on. Very nice girls indeed, both of them gorgeous.

  • a fine girl was the bould leslie.

  • Don't forget the fair Aingeala, now!
