The dynamics were off. There's a certain way the intro needs to be played; gentle, delicate. As if, if you were to pluck to strings too harshly they would break.

@JoypadGeek its the sound of his guitar. fenders have a really bouncy dry sound

I have a tele and a fender hotrod deville, if I turn up the treble to 6, bass to 7 and mids to 8, turn up the reverb to about 4, play with the neck pickup and maybe some modulation with my DD-7, I can get a very smooth and warm sound, not at all harsh or too-trebly (what some may expect from a tele).
