  • ahhhh can't wait for the perks movie next summer

  • The perks of being a wallflower is my favorite book. Ever. I am so obsessed, that this year I am reading the book and each of the letters on the correct date. For example, if the letter was written on september 7th 1991, I am going to read it on september 7th 2011.

  • I read the book, and while I liked a few things, over all... I just did not find like it. I really disliked Charlie. I found him to be an angsty Mary Sue character. But then again, maybe there was some over all meaning I missed from the book.

  • i just finished the book and i dont think a book has ever made such an impact on me before. i had to listen to this song!!

  • This is one of those books that you get upset when your done because you wish you weren't.

  • OMG! I love the comments to this video! I loved this book so much it is frustrating because I can't explain it to people and I feel like they won't feel the same way I did when I read it - infinite. Beautiful!

  • my five am lullaby!

  • anthony rapp biography <3 great video! the perks of being a wallflower is one of my favourite books :)

  • The creator of this video and the video itself are both as endearing as the protagonist in the book itself.... good work.

  • loved the totoro at the end ;)

  • a movie would be good for this book hey :)

  • @miahunter4

    there's gonna be one!

    (incase you hadn't heard haha)

  • this book had a connection with me. it was kind of scary how much i love it.

  • i wish i could tell the author how much this book meant to me.

  • @twig8792

I know right? Because isn't that what most authors strive for? They want their book to mean something to the reader, and I'm sure if anyone told him that, he would feel infinite :D

  • @dillpickell72 "feel infinite" lol well that proves you read the book!!!! :D

  • amazing book...sad ending .....always wanted to hear the songs

  • can ANY1 tell me looking up pedophile type shit has 2 do with ANYTHING????

  • @luv2bleed408 did you read the book ''The Perks of Being a Wallflower''? If not then this video probably won't make too much sense to you.

  • Coming from a teen (16) I believe that every single teenager should have a chance to read this book. There is no other book I loved more than this one. I couldn't fall asleep sometimes from thinking about it. And Im not gonna lie I cried at the end of the book. I would have never thought it would have been over :-(

For some reason I still convince myself that there really is a Charlie and everything he said existed...

  • i cried about a lot of things. when sam kissed him the first time. that was so beautiful to me. i cried on the first car ride they took together. also beautiful. and of course, the ending was depressing. i think charlie is real. i don't care what the author says.

  • Same here i cried alot in this book :(. sadly the thing sam said made me cry so hard "Let the first kiss be from a girl that loves you" sadly i havnt received my first kiss yet

  • @HBSnaruto20 OMFG story of my life right their, dude. That book had me crying so so so so much!

  • Never in my life, of all the books I've ever picked up, have I had one control me so much as The Perks of Being A Wallflower.

When Charlie was exited, I was, when he was sad, I was, when he was anxious I was, when he was happy I was.

And that's what makes this book so beautiful.

  • @SeriouslyYasmin thats what makes this book infinite..

  • the end?

  • Amazing book, amazing video

  • i love it. really fits, well done :]

  • I love this book its my fav and I have been dying to listen to this so I can feel infinite

  • best book ever.

  • Amazing book, great song, awesome video.

    Matches it very nicely.

    kudos to you =P

  • nice video, it matches the song and the book very well! :)

  • I just finished reading it a few minutes ago. All I can say is that it's a beautiful book, now I don't feel sad or alone anymore. Thank you Sthephen Chbosky for such an amazing book.

  • Why is 'Rent' playing on the TV? hahaha

  • the author of perks wrote the screenplay to rent

  • I know, I just kind of..don't get it.

  • best book in the friging world

  • I just brought the book today, about 3 hours ago, seems great so far, i know i will not be dissapointed.

  • It's beyond amazing. I've read it so many times, every time i finish it i just want to start from the beginning again.

  • i know ive probably read it like 6 times

    I LOVE CHARLIE

has anyone else memorized to poem/siucide note

its wierd cause i always find myself mumbling it to myself

  • I love Charlie too, maybe it's just the book, but he seems more real than any other character I've ever read.

And I have the poem memorized too, and I'll think about it all the time.

  • Great book. But yes The Smiths make me want to kill myself.

  • honestly this book saved my life and i know its cliche to say that but its true .this book has been the only thing thats ever made me cry

  • i must say that a agree with you

i think the perks of being a wallflower kind of made me not depressed anymore

  • This vid was great. It makes you feel so alone and isolated. It is sad.

Of course I had heard this song before and it became a favorite the first time my ears listened to this awesome song. TheSmiths/Morrissey created a tragically beautiful song.

Many people talk about committing suicide to this song .

Personally this will be my song at my funeral. That I had planned ago back in the Early 90's when I was around 15. It is 2009 and still on.

  • I love the book and this song, you made an amazing video.

  • greatest book ever

  • The Smiths are so much better than that book. They were one of the most influential indie rock bands of all time. The book was just a pseudo-influential piece of teen-lit garbage. I don't know, I'm just disappointed that the two are associated, because of the mention of Asleep in the narrative.

  • TWAT TWAT TWAT TWAT TWAT

A 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-boy wrote to me and said they didn't commit suicide because they read the book. the author said that

so many people have comitted suicidide over 'asleep'..whos the better person? good debate good debate rob..good debate..CUNT CUNT CUNT

  • Nice Red Herring. I don't need to explain the definition of that to you (as your diction suggests that you are a rather educated individual). This novel is merely a platitude. The fact that it may have saved lives makes it worthwhile, but no less insipid. For example, if one prevents suicide by providing that one "has too much to live for" et. cetera cliche, one has said something of bona fide quality, but not of profound or idiosyncratic quality. I concede that the novel is worthwhile, in that

  • respect. However, the artistic merits of the Smiths far succeed those of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

  • I rarely read books, but this was by far the best book I've ever read in my life.

  • reading that book made me feel as sad as i do, just comforted

it was pretty scary to have thoughts as alike as charlies

and, it doesnt matter how many books you read holdontightxx, people have very different opinions

  • Comment removed

  • omg i <3ed that book! well i think it was life changing...perhaps thats cuz i just finished reading it lol. in any case it'll be one of my top 5...lolz n i love this song too

  • this is my favorite book

and I read more than 50 books a year so yeah

this one I can realate to on a complete level

i always thought the way I think made me alone,

but charlie does, so i know others do too.

it really did change my outlook

  • god, AMAZING BOOK! & awesome song.

how can you not be changed?

  • I love this book. I read soo many books but this one I can never get out of my head. When u can actually feel whats happening, then it'll change ur life

  • i agree with perfectfromafar...

it was a really great book but not really life changing.

but i can see how it might change some of you..

  • Believe my, I likes Perks, a lot. But it wasn't what I'd call "life changing", it isn't even in my top five. There have been further moving books.

But perhaps all this worshiping is coming from those that don't read too often. I mean, I read 50+ books a school year, so I have lots and lots to compare it with, and higher expectations.

Don't get me wrong, the book was great, just not amazing.

  • I think that just because you read more books doesn't mean you have higher expectations

I read 50+ books a year as well and this book did change me

Everybody- Stop fighting about whether or not this book is life changing, everyone is different therefore it will affect people in different ways.

    okay? okay(:

  • word

  • well said chuck

  • congratualations your that much better then me ASSHOLE

  • im fucking better than u

    im a slumdog millionare

    WHAT CHA GONNA DOOOOOO

    ur fucking ugly btw

  • hmm. High school English did you well, I presume.

  • This book changed my life. A haunting novel.

  • how did the perks affect all of your lives all so much. what the hell did u get ou tof it?

  • IK!! idk how this started. it didnt change me at all

  • charlie's emotions are so real. they're how we all feel sometimes, but somehow we can't express them or share them with others. and this book kind of allowed me to realize that i'm not alone in what i'm going through. so it did affect me very much.

  • this song just makes me have flashbacks of really happy times..=[

i can see how this would make you feel infinite. listening to it at the right time.

  • amazing song.

    amazing book.

really changed the way I looked at life.

  • I can really see why this song made Charlie feel "infinte."

  • I loved that book, it changed my life. Awesome video. :]

  • it changed mine too. That is an incredibly power piece of literature!

  • I find it odd that people are argueing on this page. I loved the book, it changed my veiws and looks on life in general. Where im from its 10:07pm and i can honestly say, that this movie you created, really made my day. It was very enlightening..Thank you:)

by AFIdirk (sorry i accidentally deleted your comment!! :()

you made my day too :D

  • @broadwaydude I loved the book too :)

  • thank you... lol

i don't understand why you're picking on tiny details. this is just my perception and i know what i'm doing so if you have a problem with it, why don't you make your own?

  • I would if I could but then again why would I waste my time touching something that's already perfected. Why shouldn't I strive to try and make something original?

  • The book changed the way I think, and I appreciate things a lot more. Nice video :)

  • I'd watch the movie if they had one. :]

    Hehe, you put rent in!

[[btw, i havent finishes the book yet, so if rent was supposed to be there...oops]]

  • i am well aware of the fact that the movie version of rent came out in 2005 and that the book was referring to the old movie version of the producers. excuse me but i am a huge fan of both shows and movies. oh and internet DID exist back in the early 90's.

i'm not quite sure you understand this video. this is a MUSIC VIDEO. not a video OF the book. i just a made a music video RELATING to the book. way to make a pathetic attempt at dissing me and the video.

  • If you don't think I dissed you then why are you getting so defensive? And the internet was not starting to get largely used until the end of the 90's... The book took place in the early 90's. I'm not saying you said the thing about rent either someone else did.

  • Google was founded in 1998. No one used computers in the early 90's at least in the fashion that they're used today.

  • they need to make this into a movie...but who should direct it???

  • someone is making it a movie i dont know who but it was on wikipedia

  • mootallica:

i want someone like michel gondry to direct it

  • this is the book that changed my outlook in life. ......amazing song. nice vid.

  • same here

  • This book was. Indescribable.

Anybody want to take a drive and see if we can feel infinate?

  • : )

  • POBAW was an amazing and beautiful book.

    Patrick is my hero.

  • that book wow.

    deep.

  • Okay, I have a serious question for everyone. I have been trying to find a place to download this song (not MP3, just regular) but I can't find it. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?!?

  • I don't understand the pedophile thing.

  • he was like sexually assaulted by his aunt or someone like that. i don't understand why RENT was playing ...

  • cuz of drug issues in the book and RENT is my one of my favorite musical/movie... :P

  • no... he was sexually harrassed by his aunt in the book. when sam started to touch him... he realized that his aunt did that to him as a little boy

  • Oh.

I thought it was his Aunt who was sexually assaulted.

And that was the secret his mom told him when she got drunk.

  • His Aunt was sexually assaulted. Then he was sexually harassed by his Aunt.

  • That parts so sad ...

  • but his aunt still loved and he still loved her

  • Yea I know. It's a wonderful book <3.

  • Illustrating The Smiths at their darkest emotional ebb, Asleep is as beautiful as it is ghastly; a song of assiduous despair, it is the harsh and authentic clamour of the human soul at its most nihilistic.... Sing me to sleep And then leave me alone Don't try to wake me in the morning 'Cause I will be gone Don't feel bad for me I want you to know Deep in the cell of my heart I will feel so glad to go To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream
  • Thank you NME

  • I'm not sure about the greatest Smiths song ever...but Morrissey's lyrics were absolutely brilliant! My friend just about killed me the other day because I told her I'd rather listen to The Smiths than The Beatles. But hey. To each her own.

  • I agree the Smiths over the Beatles, the argument comes up time and time again within my social circle, sorry you dont think its th best Smiths song but it is :):):) hehe

  • I don't know...it's good, I suppose. But it's not really their typical style. I like their quirkier songs better, more out there and fun. This is just kind of...run-of-the-mill. It's gorgeous, but nothing spectacular.

  • Hmmm

I think I like it as its not there typical style to be honest, the quirkier songs are great, charming man, hand in glove, stop me jeane etc are great but this just thouches me in a very dark way and thats why I love it so...

With regard to the more upbeat stuff, I think you cant beat Jeane - have you heard it?

Such a shami it was never on an album :(

  • No, I hadn't, but I looked it up and it's great. I'm still partial to This Charming Man and Ask, though :). But I do appreciate the occasional darker song...I really do love this song, just not my favorite...although it is on some days :) Depends on my mood, I suppose. Today I like it a lot and could listen to it a good 5 times in a row.

  • Hey look at me I use big words out of the proper context.

  • don't be a prick

  • This is really awesome, good job.

  • This is really neat.

    I love this.

  • I love that book! Its awesome :D Amazing video too!

  • I was 19 years old, a gun in my mouth, at the end of the little music I shoot...17 years after, I still have the bullet in my neck and my only regret is to have miss this shoot...

  • THIS WAS PRETTY GOOD

but it would have been even better if when he was watching tv, you put a bowl of jello somewhere.

  • This is filmed from a great perspective, keeping in theme with the novel. I am a grad student @ Grand Valley State University. We just read this book for one of my classes. The class itself is made up of future teachers and we created a wiki with many uplinks including this one. The video is really "Charlie-esque". I think the perspective is very relatable to many young adults and helps to give a greater perspective into the book "Perks of Being a Wallfower" by Stephen Chbosky.

  • hey thanks a lot! :D

can you give me the link to this wiki? sounds really interesting.

  • great idea for a video! =) i luv the book 'perks of being a wallflower'

and i can rlly relate to charlie

thx for making the vid. it was awesome

  • that was pretty anticlimactic to tell you the truth. i mean, i was expecting it to be this amazing song like zombie or sound of silence or scarborough fair, but it wasn't all that great. i mean it was an alright song, but that just kind of took away from what i was expecting. i loved perks of being a wallflower and it just kind of fell. that was GREAT cinematography though. really fantastic job making the video.

  • this song totally makes sense because death is a prevelent theme in the book. Charlie's favorite aunt, and the one whom he feels is the only one who relates to him, his best friend, dies.

  • Hey everybody!

I'm from Germany and I read the book in my English lesson at school and I have to say that it's a very good book..Your video is great *Thumbs up* ;)

  • oh i just finished that book a few days ago, it really is that good; never gets old. great video. =]

  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower was a good book. The Catcher in the rye was better, though.

  • I prefer Perks. Catcher comes second though.

  • i love 'the perks of being a wallflower'.

charlie is truley a sensitive and wonderful guy.

love the smiths and this song as well.

    ♥♥♥♥♥

  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower is absolutely amazing.

I read it last night. And I can relate in so many ways..

  • oh and im really not sure what happend at the end.

if someone could tell me thanks,

because i dont understand what happend to him.

  • What I got, is that when he was with Sam that night, it brought up all of these memories from him Aunt. I guess she had sexually abused him but he blocked it out until it all came to him that night and messed him up pretty bad.

  • i lovedd this book.

it related to me in so many ways.

ive read it about 3 times=]

    it never gets old.

  • its kinda sad, after reading that book a few times i cant seem to stop thinking of my friend steve as charlie...

  • hahaha I LOVED that book i read it twice and i love this song now too

  • I love that book. The song is pretty good too, but the book was amazing.

  • Yeah it was. I just finished it :(. I could read "Charlie" 's letters forever :P. fucking awesome book

  • I missed the thing about pedophilia at the end. The first time I read it I didn't see it. I didn't find out about it until like, 3 years later. He says it very quickly.

  • Yes and in a vague way. I read the last few pages and the epilogue a couple times and then I got it

  • Same here.

I had to read it a few times,

    It was a great book.

I loved the part where they got Charlie stoned.

    I LOL'd when he said "A milkshake."

    ((:

  • omg. i love you. ^_^ the smiths. the perks of being a wallflower. AND a totoro toy! AHHH!!! youre amazing. the end. im thinking of making a mixed tape/cd of all the songs listed in the book. sadly i have only finished up to part two in the book so far but i MUST say that it is by far my favorite. i can relate to charlie's mental state/frame so well. im going to go finish reading it now actually. great vid. Xoxo Brandy
  • Even with all the drugs and stuff, that book was strangely the best book I ever read.

  • the perks of being a wallflower...A undiscribable book. touched by it.

and i still cant figure out why.

  • such a great song

    and a great book

    and a great video

  • i agree, a wonderful book, but the song...i don´t know

  • my bf gave a copy of that book.. and i love it!! really!!! nice song!!

  • omg i was curious about this song. hehe im reading the book :) its very interesting so far :D

  • i just read the most amazing book in my life. other than sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs.

i just finished reading a book called The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. in the book charlie is riding in sams truck and this song came on the radio. all he could say when it was over was that he was infinite. i wanted to hear it for myself. its awesome. thank you :]

  • actually this song wasnt the one on the radio he said he didnt tell the song on the radio because you have to hear it for yourself to feel the same "infinite" feeling.

asleep was one of the songs on the mixtape that his sisters boyfriend gave her.

  • *hug*

  • Very good video, I just wish it had time period consistency

  • Great job. I haven't read the book yet, i'm sort of 'saving it' if that makes sense. This song always gives me chills though, but your imagery fit so well.

  • i love the book...

    one of my faves

  • the part where your spinnig around outside, really makes me think of when they al felt infinate

  • Love that book!

  • I just found this book in the library today, and I am on page 22.

I am wondering about this sexual harassment and pedophile thing...hmm...what is it that I am reading about?

    Well I must keep reading.

I am excited because I am a big fan of The Smiths,

and I read To Kill A Mockingbird last year.

I noticed it in that book pile in the video.

    The video was very nice.

  • As you get farther into the book you'll start to understand the pedophilia and sexual harassment in it.

The end of the book just broke my heart, it's a great story that I'm sure I'll read again.

  • I like it.

  • that reminds me of me

  • I loved the part with rent.

  • very beautiful, reminds me of a guy i used to know.

  • MOVIE? ZOMFG WHARE@?!?!?as?fds tael me pls.

  • i have read the book. the book is awesome. and this video makes me laugh.

  • where can i get the full movie??

  • the full movie? this is not a movie... haha it's just a music video for the song :)

  • but there is a movie.. yet... soo if u kno.. tell me

  • oh yea i heard something about a movie... i will keep you posted on that.

  • There is nothing wrong with the book. Stop complaining.

  • I'm in the middle of reading this book...it's amazing.

    Nice video. :]]

  • yeah. you can thank me for this video considering i'm the one that recommended that book to yukino.

    yeah. that's right. bow down.

    :P

interesting video there yukino. not as awesome as the push up one, but getting there...

  • haha i did thank you... :) and for recommending this book to me, i will bow down.

haha i deleted the push up one! ha! i don't think i have it on my computer so it is probably lost forever and ever and ever...

  • except for the fact that it's saved on my computer...but whatever...
