Funny how I was drinking absinthe in the 1960s and since and no one ever knew what it was and suddenly all this steampunk trend crap comes along and you have these overnight Victorians who otherwise would know nothing about any of this had the trend sprouted. Disposable culture for most, so sad.
Put the absinthe in your glass, then put the spoon and the sugar over the glass and add icy water, very slowly on the sugar, drop by drop, until the sugar is totally melted.
Continue adding water to obtain the correct "louche".
Using an absinthe fountain is much better to regulate the water flow.
Actually, the reason Abinsthe became the drink of the masses was because the wine production came to a halt due to a massive bug infestation. The wine production wasnt back on it's feet until the farmers got new plants from america, and by then, Absinthe had became the drink of the people
it's not bad and funny but not "typical" ! :
1. nop put absinthe on sugar : absinthe before and sugar after
2. Where is the typical glass of absinthe ???
(sorry for my english)
il est ou le verre à absinthe si particulier avec son "réservoir" ?? non mais oohh !^^

Just one thing, very important :
Never poor the absinthe over the sugar!
Put the absinthe in your glass, then put the spoon and the sugar over the glass and add icy water, very slowly on the sugar, drop by drop, until the sugar is totally melted.
Continue adding water to obtain the correct "louche".

You do NOT pour absinthe over the sugar cube!
theuglybiker 3 years ago
Yea, I 've never heard that before. You pour absinthe straight into the glass , the water over the sugar.

I was wondering if you could do a review of "Le Tourment Verte" since I've read alot of reviews saying Le Tourment isn't real absinthe.
