Lowering your elbow if a good thought. The key is to lower it so that it is infront of your right hip as this helps the clubhead to lag longer and sets up a leaning shaft at impact which is an ideal condition to create.
Yes that would start the golf club down on a steep path increasing the likelyhood that the golf club would travel from outside to inside through impact.
@golfconfidencepro The only way I can get close to doing this is thinking of lowering my right elbow toward my right hip as a first swing thought from the top??
Good question, it's predominantly a timing challenge and it gets better the more you trust it. It's a little scary just letting the arms drop but it really is the master move in the golf swing. The key is to makesure you finish your stroke-that is you drop into the slot and swing to the finish via the release roll which is the second stage of the stroke after impact. The clubhead will catch up as long as you don't do anything out of the ordinary with your lower body. Hope it helps you.
WHAT A COOL DEMO. when applying this its one of those things that the brain has a tough time comprehending, but holy crap it works. its always like a "leap of faith" trying something new in a golf swing.
when i hit driver i feel a little bit of unwanted "slack" (if you will) when i bring club down as if my lower body is getting ahead of the arms. the result is never too costly but i know i am not getting 100%. is this a timing or tempo issue? Thx!

If you start down by pointing the end of the shaft at the ball instead of dropping straight down first would that be over the top?
