well, I've ordered my last two iPods online, and both arrived within 48hrs (my nano shipped from PA, and my touch from CA)... this isn't a guarantee that yours will arrive in the same amount of time, but Apple are very quick to ship their products out, so there is a good chance that it will arrive earlier than the 10th.

there is no 3G for the ipod touch only for iPhone is that what you mean. The 1G ipod has a thicker body and no internal speakers the ipod 2G has internal speakers and a thinner stainless steel body

there's a good chance you'll be waiting a good 6-8mo if you're waiting for a new version... I'd suggest buying the current version, getting at least a year's use out of it, then selling it if a new version comes out. technology will always be improving, and you're better off just enjoying the version you have rather than focusing on "this person has a better/newer version than me."
