@wheelpsych94 True it is cheap, but I can imagine that if that 3rd round wasn't played as a speed round, he would have won that round and bought it anyway... lol
Does anyone know the story behind why Susan holds up one finger at the end of many shows? Just curious if this was her signature like how Carol Burnett always tugged on her ear.
I can't help but notice Susan is much more reserved in her letter turning by this point. I didn't notice any letters exposed before the trilons were lit. I'm curious if this is just an isolated incident or if she was instructed by the producer to wait. Maybe she was still adjusting to the four lined puzzleboard? Since we don't have many Stafford/Sajak episodes available, its hard to say if she started this practice after Chuck Woolery left the show.
THis episode couldn't have aired in March 1982 with the reference to NFL preseason football by the announcer during the credits. Maybe it originally aired then and its a rerun from March as is said in the comments on part one, but it has to be from August 6, 13, 20, 27 or September 3, 1982(Friday episode given Pat's reference to wrapping up the week) given the preseason football reference.
oh they certainly do rerun. The last few months of NBC Wheel Of Fortune in 1991 were reruns from earlier in the year, and Classic Concentration went on for 2 years in reruns before NBC finally cancelled it outright in 1993.

Sally Julian wore that same "astronaut" outfit on the series premiere of "Sale of the Century"

Even though it was 1982, $1600 is still a pretty cheap bonus prize.

I like how Susan went across to fill in MAKES and comes back by to complete HASTE on the top line. Very nice!
