Speech less that like a new Vivaldi style playing ....so realistic sound of the birds...Never heard and felt Spring sooo alive......Awesome....this Red Priest
He's such a showman isn't he!! I own at least 3 of their CD's and watching this clip has pasted a silly grin across my face cos the performance is pretty similar to that which I saw live some years ago here in Holland. Are you ever coming back???
We all heard Vivaldi hundreds of times but never like this. It truly stopped me in the tracks and I had to get this CD although God knows I have enough "Four seasons" already - after you hear this, all the other versions seem somehow pale and bloodless. Is it a gimmick? Is it art? It's wonderful! My own personal "Four seasons" favorite and I couldn't care less for academic, artsy fartsy approach of "real artists" - this is artistry for me and these guys would delight Vivaldi himself.
Oh wow. Im learning this on the sopranino recorder actually but even still its very hard, especially those quick triplet arpeggios!!! but im getting there. Very impressive stuff! :)
@PachoVila It's actually a harpsichord! I'm not sure who it was made by without doing some research, but if you want more info on it let me know and I'll hunt down the details for you :)
Put it in context of the times -- there are no drums, they are playin Baroque music. Hurrah. They are competent. Perhaps influenced by rock music -- how could they avoid it? To complain would be to miss the goodess that is there.
The local events calendar said they play early music. But Baroque (council of Trent music) is not early music. Will I find any early music, by them, on Youtube?
I've listened to many recent versions of the four seasons, which are supposed to be different and modern. The only difference I can detect is that they play it fast and aggressively. A novelty perhaps first time but not over and over again.
This red priest version is yet another example.
You watch (or listen) when the next version comes out they'll go like the clappers playing it and reckon it's a new and exiting take.
Genial, muy dinámico, es una lástima que con la flauta dulce no sea posible tocar las notas piano como se debe, no es incapacidad por parte del ejecutante, sino más bien una imposibilidad técnica de su instrumento
Glory shall be given to good things. They are on greater glory, as is greater holiness, so is greater glory and this has greater glory and value than pop. It is incomparable. Not many saved people are looking for pop, are they?
But Jesus is in heaven king and on earth was poor... Percent of his royalty is greater, eternality comparing to human life, so what is good is good and what is sweet is not bitter.
This level of serious music on the top of the worlds tallent and perfectness is not comparable with pop. Baroque is not comparable so much with pop as is not comparable classical oil paintings and masterworks with modern art of decadence for which I read are people excomunicated from catholic church. As king is not comparable with beggar. And Jesus is both. He was satisfied with royal things and beggars. Satisfied with cold and hot, not lukewarm and this is hot!
What is the original?? That's something played in the 16 hundreds. Originally it would have been upbeat not the dour and slow versions you hear today.
Interpretation is what keeps music alive and interesting to hear even after so many years since it has been written down to the stave, and this is proven magnificently and exquisetly by this group.
is the best quartet for me, they gave me ligth in my head, i am a musician and really is very very nice to know about ppl who make diferent music with the same notes, congratulations, come to México please!!
I suppose people are going to screech when they know that I had the chance to get tickets to see these guys, as they are performing for the Three Choirs Festival in my home county of Worcester this year... but I decided not to when I found it was a small ensemble with mass arranging and modification etc. - I wanted to see a verion with full string orchestra etc., done strictly as Vivaldi wrote. Sorry, it's just how I feel, I still wish this group every success! They clearly deserve it
Now I think these players are excellent, before people tear my throat out lol. Fabulous virtuosity all round. But I have to say I'm not a fan of the interpretation - it seems that the focus here is on the showmanship, not the actual music. Showmanship comes into all good live music performances of course, but shouldn't take over. Also, I feel that since this is a violin concerto, the focus should be on the violin, not on the recorder as it seems to be!
actually the internet is full of people like you, no one will tear your throat out:-) close minded people giving useless drivel just to annoy people...sorry you deserve it.
I'm sorry that I don't like every piece of music/interpretation ever - I just happen to prefer more authentic renditions. I'm sure whether I deserve it or not is a matter of opinion. I complimented the musicians but noted it wasn't to my personal taste.; you resorted to calling me a close-minded person and suggested I was speaking drivel, and worse, suggested I was doing it with a hate-mongering, vindictive intention (all on little grounds). I think I know who the internet type is here
There is a certain amount of authenticity to this. Large-scale words were often re-scored in this way. And the imitation of bird-calls like that within music is very idiomatic on (and expected of) the recorder.
This might have been based on Chedeville's (a French composer who was a contemporary of Vivaldi's) "folk" transcription of Vivaldi's music. I'm not sure though.
Close-minded? And what does one call such hostile responses to anything said one does not agree with? Surely, you are here being no more than a worshiper of this performance ready to attack anyone who criticizes it with the devotion of a zealot.
i`m impressed... you are a great formation!!! keep going!!!

don't add too many ornaments, or at least make some variety
and don't like the permanent staccato

Does he has a compressor in his belly?
Gosh those triplets with double-tounging are impossible to do.
If Vivaldi could hear it, he certainly would like it.
