  • It's originally Mackie Messer and is really neat. But the way she sings it gives it more of a jazzy flair

  • Sweet Ella swings beautifully.

  • All-time favourites,Ella and Duke! Perfection!

  • Wonderful, the best of Ella and Duke. Would like to hear Miss LaBelle sing this ,so i can decide who was the best female singer or the last century

  • @badbrainaj You cannot be serious! Patti Labelle couldn't do nothin with this, she's not even CLOSE to being on this musical level!

  • Love it!!!!

  • stupenda

  • I have never hard such a amazing video.Ella's scat singing is perfect!!I was moved.

  • absolutely stupefying!! other great live album are: "Ella in Berlin" and "Ella in Rome".

  • @marinetti900 Yeah those are essential albums. Also 'Live at Mr. Kelly's' (1958) should be in any Ella fan's collection.

  • Smoking hot arrangement from Duke....The grand dame at her best...Brecht's drama...This is the pinnacle of 20th Century culture right here. Thanks for posting, srsly.

  • When Ella sings that line "down by the river don't you know" it sends a shiver down my spine, every time. Incomparable, indeed. Thanks for posting.

  • Go Ella !...you got me SWINGING!

  • macewindu67 hits the nail on the head when he asks "wtf gaga gets 150 million hits".

But don't worry man, Ella will live forever, while gaga will fade away!

  • I never cared much for this song until I heard -- of all people -- Jimmie Dale Gilmour do a slowed-down version which brought out the sinister side of Mack. Ella's up tempo with the Duke makes it swing, Louis Armstrong adds something special because no mere vocalist can add what Satchmo's horn did. Sinatra made it a Sinatra song and Darrin made it a top-40 type hit.

  • @Elmo409 "Mere vocalist?" Are you suggesting that Ella Fitzgerald is a "mere" vocalist, or that the human voice, man's FIRST and greatest tuneful instrument is somehow inferior to a horn? Singers can't hit all the notes you can on an instrument, but an instrument can't get words across either. The things Ella did with her voice NO one else could do and they haven't done since, the lady was an improvisational genius of the highest order.

  • @1hes2ranger85 Teach 'em!

  • mortel !!!

  • I Really need to get the Cote d'azur album..

  • 11,000 views yet and random gaga bull shit has 150 million views? wtf is wrong with this picture?

  • This is undoubtedly the greatest version ever by anyone of this classic. It will never be equalled. Breathtaking performance. Robbie Williams? Are u 'avin' a laff?

  • People may not belive this but this is what i lift weights to for two years.ella gets me pumped

  • No words necessary! It's Ella.

  • You used the wrong its in the video description.

  • How did she do such things!

  • This has always blown me away!

  • la meilleure version !!! du swing et une monté en puissance !! yesss!!

  • THE GODDESS OF MUSIC, JAZ AND THE QUEEN OF SWING FOREVER. Love You Ella!!! BidsWOW.com

  • Awesome, just awesome

  • My all-time favorite Ella performance, and all-time favorite Mack. During the crescendo she changes keys 11 times!

  • @binsk2 huh? I only counted 3 changes ( 4 inc the original).

  • She has the most amazing voice I've ever heard....

  • From the Cote d'azur. Classic big band crescendo w/ the greatest jazz singer of the all. This gets me moving on the stationary bike at the gym like no other tune.

    Where's the live video???

  • hummm lovely

    thanks ella

  • This is my favorite song of all time, ever, anywhere. I listen to everything from Slipknot to Muse to African djembe players to Yanni to Sinatra to hardcore rap. But this is my #1.

  • Ella / Duke Happy Days.

  • Love this song so much!
