  • thanks a lot man.do u have any experience with long ones?i m from czech republik and here in central and east europ r none except us and canadians ones which cost nearly twice as in us and coupple shitty promo ones.so my bro has a carpentery workshop like propper one,so i like to try to build it here.just coupple of them first.thanks again because here everyone keeps his informations.good luck.yeah and what about snow ones?

  • @TheKOKOT33 Wow that sounds like a very challenging market place! Very cool that you have a good wood working shop to use. I never have made long boards. But, price wise they probably would be a little easier to make a couple bucks on. Snowboards are technical as hell to make! There are so many more things inside a snow board compared to a skateboard. Maybe someday I will get to confidence to try to make one.... I don't know if I would want to test it though :) Good luck to you and your bro!

  • hi,great vid especialy the information below.can u tell me how many sheets u used and if thay r all cutted in same direction?I mean the strings of wood.R all sheets cutted the same direction as these strings or some sheets r cutted across?thanks

  • @TheKOKOT33 Hey man, thanks for the compliment. The common skateboard is 7 plys. 5 plys are long grain and two are cross grain. The best is getting a hold of a broken skateboard. Then start digging into it to see how the wood plys are put together. I hate to admit it, but I learned everything from all the boards I broke over the years!

  • hay man how much do u spend on the wood and what type of wood is it

  • @Orlondo100 The wood veneer spicies is called sugar maple. Price depends on where you buy it. I've seen prices as high as 6 bucks a sheet at the retail level. Deffinately shop around. If you can find a wholesale supplier the prices get way better, but you have to buy alot at once.

  • @BenjieBuddy Thanks man, I guess one of the best places to start is at Roarockit skateboard company. Click on the "woodworkers" tab and you'll find Veneer Packs for street boards and long boards. But..... Stay away from the vacuum press! It is not the best way to press a board. Cold hard pressing of 2 tons or more will give you a much more solid board :) If they don't have big enough veneer packs google skateboard veneer suppliers. Hope that helps man!

  • Another awesome DIY vid! Very interesting and fun to watch. Keep it up!

  • does anyone know where i can get everything aside from the glue. im trying to start making decks and start a local buisness.

  • haha coffins huh??? damn these past couple of days this is all i have been thinking about...pressing skateboards..lol but i read ur info and i am bummed out now. i thought i could make a boatload of money but now i start to second guess myself. maybe i should try coffins..lol

  • boards look great!!! :D do you think you cam send me a board not shaped and holes not drilled?i would buy it.thanks and good vid!!!

  • @steve48222 Ah, sorry man I'm all done pressing this year. Check out the Skatepaige web site. I'm sure you can get one there for a good price :)

  • Would love to try one of them, the shape kind of reminds me of Heathen decks, very nice, good work!

  • Hi great video, and your board looks awesome. I'm trying to build a more serious press for my boards, and I was wondering what material you used for the mold?

    thanks!

  • @oboi2104 Thanx for the comment! I included a bunch of tips on materials and techniques in the info section underneath the vid. I hope it helps!

  • can you make a video about how to make the mold

  • Yeah dude, I already got it planned out. I'm gonna film it this spring after I'm outta school. Look for it here around the end of April / beginning of May.

  • thanks dude i am gunna get my dad to drive onto it so i get some sweet pressure on the glue and wood + r u making it out of concrete or wood

  • If you read the Information I included for this video I go into some of that type of stuff....

  • are the boards pop good? are they good overall?

  • Good Question man. It's important to try to keep your wood dry and do not use too much glue. Let them dry out for about 4 days before you cut them out.. When your done sanding seal (paint) them well. Oil based lacquer is the best. Keep these factors in mind and your boards will be solid, pop well, and last longer.

  • when he plugged the xmas lights back in i'd so laugh if a bear came and ran off with his board

  • its super hard to find someone in the states who will sell you veener, when i finaly found someone it cost me about $30 per board

  • that was awsome

  • where did you get the veneer?i'v been lookin for some.

  • A mill in Quebec La Grand veener. the sales guys name was dale rosma. I have no idea if hes still there though.

  • If yer in the states the best place to get an uncut blank is at eastbuilt skate manufacturing. $16.50 each but thier site states they are not doing international shipping last time I checked! If yer in another country I have no clue. Maybe go to yer local sk8shop?

  • dude can u make me o just blank ill pay u for it

  • did you use the actual steel press from diy or make your own design because the steel one is a little pricy for me?

  • hey dude. Yea I use that metal one (I have two now)but check this out, I went to a local mill here and offered one of the millrights there a 60 pounder of vodka to weld up some metal for me. buddy jumped at it and I got my first press for the price of a night of drinkin. I was thinkin theres gotta be some dirty bugger at every metal recycling plant.... go make friends!!!!!!!

  • what are "Coffin" boards as you stated in your details?

Also, you stated that no one should get into this industry with a buttload of money. is that because of the over abundnace of board makers out there or because of the lack of exposure the little man gets?

  • Hey man I ment burial coffins :). And yeah its pretty tuff to get a business like this off the ground these days. Competion and the high cost of promo will screw with any well meaning skate builder. But there is always an angle......

  • thankss

  • okk

    thx

bc my dad wants me and him to start a business.

we have the wood and everything we just need to make a mold

  • Cool Man!! good luck! The DIY skateboard is a dieing art! LOL!

  • lol

my first decks r gunna suck

im nervous bout the wheel base placement

  • Well man my first decks were horrible. I just ended up using them for shelves LOL! Thats kind of why I think it might be important to share what I have learned. Save some wood out there and Keep Skatin Strong!
