very cute but not phonetically accurate. the singer adds a short u sound after most consonants. i'm a preschool teacher and it's tough to find phonics material that keeps the sounds pure.

Seriously? Cute graphics and beat BUT...

1. Customary and research based practices: you don't teach long vowels when teaching introductions to phonemes, you start with short vowels.

2. What is with all of the shwa sounds? Again, research based practices: Teaching consonants in isolation are never taught with a shwa until much later in Elementary Ed.

But...I do give you credit for trying. How many folks just sit on their butts doing NOTHING!

Just a comment, as far as really teaching kids phonics... Having Sheep be for the letter S and Xylophone be letter X is probably not the best way to do things. There are a ton of S words that don't use the sh phoneme. And with X, it's probably best to do axe or ox, even though the words don't START with the letter, but at least it gives the proper sound.

Other than that, the video is great :) My little guy really enjoys it.

why does english have like un mil pronounciations for vowels?? spanish has uno way to say each vowel. and he said g guh grape. doesnt g make a juh sound too? and what about c? in spanish we say it like a k or an s. but in english is it only used as like a k. lo ciento im learning english

@sexiidude225 It's just the way we speak :) English, and Spanish are two different languages. We all pronounce things differently, there's no right way. Haha, people always used to say jaja on chat websites, and I never knew that jaja, meant haha. LOL, I get it now. haha...XD

@sexiidude225 I can see you are still learning. Actually, C is treated the same way in English as in Spanish. G is also treated similarly, except it is not always soft before E or I. As for the vowels, there are rules and exceptions. Learn the rules, and learn the exceptions. Why? Language evolution.

english is a quasi-regular language and the graphemes dont always produce the same sound (e.g. aCCount-aCCident, hAVE-cAVE)

Very cute. But just so you know, those aren't short vowel sounds, which are ordinarily taught as part of a phonemic sequence. For vowels to be transferred into common cvc patterns it is standard to introduce the short sounds first. This is a common mistake made by any publishers when teaching phonemic awareness.

Great video, my two-year-old and I really enjoyed it! One small suggestion...I would consider the changing the S picture to correspond with its sound. "S, sss, sun" for example...You used sheep which is the sh sound. Over all great work!!!
