haha i know the singer has a sheet of music and theres 3 guys playing instruments when ben folds memorizes it and plays the piano at the same time and half the time hes got hes eyes closed watch some vids of him live =) these guys are good im not disen on them or ne thing just sayin

they actually played very well. the sound quality isnt very good, cuz its not a real piano or bass, its all electric, and midi. plus its not a real studio recording, its just live off the floor. and the guy singing doesnt sound like ben.. but thats just cuz hes not lol. but he pitched it well, and the all played pretty tight together. plus that key and bass player are super solid. u dont like it cuz its not ben, but they did play very very well.

The reason it doesn't work is because he's working too hard at it and is making the song too mechanical. Perfect way to ruin an original song by Folds.

its a bit less flow... but ya i kinda see ur point. but ben flows so good cuz hes been doing it his whole life, plus he wrote it. the guys pretty relaxed tho. no ones ever gunna do a ben folds song as good as ben folds lol. but given what they have to work with, and given teh fact that they probably just learned it. id say they did an top notch job

its not all about memorization on the piano ive played for 9 years.. after playing a song reading it 10 or so times.. it just comes to your fingers and you just play without thinking.. you really have to concentrate on memorizing it.

He probably doesn't need lyrics -- just a guide for the vocal music notes, so he knows *how* to sing it. That's important too -- and if it's the only time he has to sing it in a studio recording, he won't memorize it.
