Few people realise the tragety here. Dr Zoidberg, who lives in a dumpster, is destitute and is shunned by his co-workers has few outlets for pleasure or companionship in this cruel world. His Slinky in his dark hours gave him simple pleasure, it did not insult, hurt or ask anything of him, it only gave him joy as it walked down stairs. Then bender so casually took it from him and despite his best efforts, he could not revive it. Here a small becon of joy in a dark life has been snuffed out here

After really strong DVD sales and stronger fan support they brought it back for a few straight to DVD movies, Benders Game, The Beast with a Million Backs, Into the Wild Green Yonder and Benders Big Score. After that, they released those movies as a season and then started making new episodes for the following season. Got cancelled, then came back.

@callumbuddy They cut the fifth/sixth season in half so that if Futurama didn't get picked up for another season at least they'd have something for 2011. But it did, so there'll be plenty of new episodes for a couple of years at least.

It got cancelled originally because Fox didn't like it.  It wasn't officially cancelled, Fox just let it fall out of production, no money = no new episodes. It's like a lot of good shows on Fox, they get cancelled because of the genuine stupidity of the network
