His friends even said that he knew a kiss could be dangerous for her but he went through with it anyway. The fact that HIV can't be spread via kissing doesn't matter. I'm not gay. But I am in a wheelchair, having been born with the birth defect spina bifida. To many people, the fact that I'm in a wheelchair makes me "different." Many people think of gay people as being "different." Regardless of the many ways that every person in the world is considered "different," we all deserve equal respect and understanding. It's such a shame that the gay population was so discriminated against in the early years of AIDS.

We had to work on educating the public against social stigma, first.
There wouldn't have been ANY AIDS/HIV patients alive today if we hadn't. Talks were leaning toward quarantine and...the unmentionable...for a lot of years due to our perception that AIDS only affected certain identifyable social groups (Look up the "4H" club). We had to change these preconceptions before we could move ahead medically.

There was a strong stigma around homosexuality and AIDS at the time. Even more than there is now. AIDS was a rapidly-growing public health threat and the president didn't even want to talk about it. So of course a movie star hoping to get better from some French miracle drug and continue his career isn't going to come out and go, "Hey, everybody! I'm dying from AIDS that I contracted through gay sex!"
His secretary sure isn't going to out him like that either. That'd be a dick move.

Liberace was a strong influence in my youth, admittedly he may not have been the best pianist at anytime in his life but you can see from watching him play in later performances the music meant so much to him and was flowing right through him. He had his right to privacy, it is not as if he was doing a Gary Glitter, why do people still have this grudge against gay people in this day and age?

If HIV cannot be transmitted amongst humans other than blood, needle, or sex, then how could it be transmitted from monkey to human by EATING SIV tainted monkey meat? It doesn't make sense.

HIV can be transmitted in other ways than blood, needle and sex, those are just unfortunately more certain and the most common ways of transmission. It's certain HIV cane from SIV, exactly how is as big a question as how the universe came into existence. Consumption of meat is just the only explanation that makes any sense.

.I read somewhere that none of Rocks' so called partners got aids through him and even if he did engage in homosexual acts, it was also possible he contracted aids through his blood transfusions during his heart surgery. This was before blood was tested for the virus and before anyone really understood anything about this illness. It seems to me that this should be considered too instead of painting Rock completely black because of his lifestyle. He wasn't blameless but such hate isn't right.

And yes, if it is very rare to contract aids through vaginal intercourse, which it is, then by definition homosexuals are more likely to get it. I've read the articles. Why don't you do the same, before you resume the discussion based on your own PC, idealistic notions?

You probably have greater medical knowledge than I do, I just think that, since there are a large number of heterosexual people getting AIDS vaginal transmission is also a very large possibility.

You're wrong again. Heterosexual people get AIDS through such things as HIV drug use and other high-risk behaviors. The chances of getting HIV from vaginal intercourse is a relatively SMALL possibility. And the only reason I have greater medical knowledge than you is that I read articles on the Internet on the matter. If you do the same, you'll have the exact same knowledge as I do.
