@ArchFatalis Same here (only not this version specifically). I could only remember one sentence from the narrator in the beginning of the game. Two words that stuck out lead me to this game: super seeker. I had no idea the amount of cheesiness (and fun) I had in my childhood. Ah the memories.
Wasn't the protagonist of this game featured in at least one other game? I (think I) vaguely remember playing such a game one day over fifteen years ago.
@Person106 Oh, he is in plenty of games. This game, along with several others, are made by The Learning Company. Some of the other titles include Treasure Mathstorm, Out Numbered, Midnight Rescue, and Ancient Empires.
@Shortmandesigner What is the significance of the cave at 7:10 with a hole in the back that leads to the passage on the previous part of the mountain?
I know the music for the part with all the ladders is Bach's harpsichord concerto in D minor, movement 1, does anyone know if the game's theme is also a real piece? I remember hearing the piece out of the game for the first time, it blew my mind!!
@FancyFox3 I'm almost 100% certain that every song used in games from this series comes from some musical piece like that. I wouldn't know the names of any though, aside from the one you just mentioned of course :P.
i remember playing this on my dad's green and black computer monitor before we got the color one. and then one day my dad brought home our first color computer and i remember playing this and thinking wow, this was what it should REALLY look like!
@chattychar Green and black computers.... man, I remember those things still. The computer lab at my elementary school had those for a few years until we finally got colour computers.
Wow, this used to be my favorite game of all time....I played it nonstop when I was a kid! Was just thinking about it today; thanks for uploading the video, it brings back some great memories!
When I was growing up, my dad was a Ph.D. candidate. Because all of his time was spent in a science lab, he couldn't afford a sitter for me. So I was with him in the lab. He took an old computer out of a closet and set it up in the lab. I played the shit out of this for weeks. I finally beat it. Now it kind of creeps me out.
@theblitz8 Well... someone isn't paying attention, the number beside my first reply clearly says 9. But you only claim that I have 5. Are you admitting that other people have in fact agreed with me? :3
@theblitz8 That's funny... because I thought you commented earlier that I must have 5 other accounts. So, if what you just said was true, you shouldn't be bothered about that possibility afterall then. :P
And secondly, if a like doesn't imply agreement, by that logic it implies disagreement. Why would someone like a comment that they disagree with? :3
@randir14 Oh dang it, I forgot to show that. Thanks for the reminder... maybe I'll do another gameplay video of this game or something later on, and I'll show that then.
I really want to play this game but can't figure out how to make it work. I downloaded it and dosbox but I really have no idea what i'm doing!! Please point me in the right direction! :)
Thanks to your info about the DosBox, I was able to download this and finally, after over a decade, fulfill my childhood dream of completing and winning the game :) :P I'm now going to go look for Midnight Rescue :D
@FunSunGrl No problem, glad I could help. :) If you need help learning how to use DosBox, PM me or look up tutorials for it that are on YouTube already.
@stupidvideoguys Ya, for sure. I played too many DOS games when I was a kid to have a favourite, but this is definitely one of the games I enjoyed the most.
@alandaog I haven't played Treasure Planet I don't think, but I have played Treasure Cove. Midnight Rescue is the one you're thinking of. :P (And yes, a video of it is also on my channel)
@alandaog You could always play this through DosBox. I use that for all the DOS games that I play and I have well over 100 DOS games on my hard drive.
Back in the day, I didn't have a computer. But my dad was a PhD student at Ole Miss, and I played this game on his lab computer. Sometimes he'd be there until well after midnight working, so I'd be playing this game. It took me FOREVER to beat.
Good times :). remembered the song in the beginnning...played this game as a kid..Couldn't he just have asked those happy go lucky skipping elves for the scrolls instead?
No problem! For the longest time I was trying to look for it when I stumbled on the page for the game on Wikipedia and it was right there. Nice to know it's good for some things!
OH... MY... GOD... I simply must have this game! I didn't remember it by the title, but seeing you play it made me remember this game! I used to play this!!!!
All I know is, I uploaded this right away after I had finished recording. It might just very well have to do with the resolution of the video. This video is in the avi format, the Blockout video is the other HQ video I created with DosBox, so I don't know if it has to do with the resolution of the game, or that the other avi videos touched WMM, and possibly WMM added some code or something... *shrugs* more videos in the future will reveal what is going on.
Hmmm my videos are ".avi" videos too. Maybe the format has something to do with it also. I mean, I know resolution has something to do with it. But file types may matter also. avi files tend to be bigger then other files, so file size may be it too.
I remember this game when I was a kid.

Same for the game, simply do a search and choose the 4th option to get the download. Abandonia would be a good place to get games.
