Out of interest, Mark Hummel does a great bit of warbling, (possibly 45d 45b 34d, not sure) on his song The Blues is Here To Stay, at the start of the second half of the solo. My current favourite warble:)
hey, before this video i didnt even think of blowing on a warble, idk how that even didnt cross my mind haha. thanks alot for teaching the blow technique with the 4/5 draw to 4/5 blow to 3/4 draw, im gonna start usin it immediately! and the diminished technique, this is great stuff man
Regarding the speed or warbling to a given rhythm you comment: ' ...in good players it's a kind of consistent ratio with the beat, which is uh... that's advance harp'. It might be particular to his style or even the exception to the rule, but I heard Kim Wilson warble like out of tempo but yet sounding cool. What do you think? Thanks
Great video, I actually started two days ago, and I'm almost ready to try some jams with the band. You're on line lessons have been a great help, I'll be checking out what else you have!
Thanks, Adam. I have been praticing hard and can get in to a worbel pretty well, but geting out of it is difficult. In addition I am building rythem with3b,3d,4b,4d,4d,4b,3d,3b
by repeating 4d,4b,3d,3b and trying to throw
a worble in and getting out. the rythem and worbles are very incouraging. I am able to nail the 4 hole with vibrato and wha, whas my 5 hole get slipery for a clear note. I hope you have a great year Adam...
Thanks for another great lesson. When I want really work on my warbles, I try to duplicate Little Walters beautiful solo in "Blues with a feeling" (song in A, harp in D.)
I would immagine your busy at school with all that is happening in VA tech? It would'nt hurt if the students were informed to know how much of an aid to good mental health a harmonica can be.
I'm not sure what "bent vibrato" is, but I always use throat vibrato. You'll notice that it's pretty smooth, rather than raspy. I talk in at least one of the early lessons how to achieve this.
Sure. That's why some of us use only Marine Bands. I've always found Special 20s to be too metallic. But I've worked for decades on my sound; that's what they pay me for. If I could package and sell "tone," I'd be a millionaire.
I often wonder if there is a "finite" number of tones out there, but I guess each individual derives their own based on artist influences, technical ability and even physiological make-up. It's rather cool now that I think of it...
nice

I don't do it that way, but I've seen several players who do. My basic feeling is: the sound is what counts, not the technique.

Hey thanks for all the advice. Is that throat vibrato or bent vibrato that you use as standard on the root 2 draw?

Right cheers. You can access it really quickly. Love your sound.

Adam, recently I've had trouble reaching high notes use the "puckered" method. I can hit them blocking.... Any thoughts? Thanks

Great tutorial, really helpful you saying which notes to play.
I have the Hohner Special 20 in C, yours sounds different, it's the Marine Blues, do different harps in the same key make different sounds noticably?
