  • On this date in 1967 {Feb. 25th} "Dedicated To The One I Love"" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} and spent 10 weeks in the Top 100...

    Ranked 62th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1967 chart...

Originally recorded by The '5' Royales in 1959, never charted, was re-released in 1961 and it reached #81

    Other charted versions; The Shirelles twice {#83 in 1959 & #3 in 1961}, The Temprees {#93 in 1972}, and Bernadette Peters {#65 in 1981}

  • They mak'em good music!!!

  • WISH THEY HAD THEIR SONG ON CD?

  • This song rivals "California Dreaming " as my favourite Mamas And The Papas song .

Both inspired brilliant compositions from the halcyon 1960s !

  • Brilliant. Tear-wrenching. One of the handful of best sixties songs easily.

  • reminds me of the summer of '67 :(

  • The best version of this song! Note: the Shirelles also did it earlier.

  • They used this song in the 1986 movie House, and whenever I hear it, I still think of the movie.

  • The Mamas and Papas hit #2 in Billboard, 3-25-67. Thanx, Otaku-san, for postin' it. Have a great week!

  • You're welcome, DaveWollenberg-san!!

  • May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • It's a fabulous arrangement. Like they said: They'd drop acid and sit around and play and make harmonies.

Not that they were not musically and vocally gifted. A fabulous quartet in the age of fabulous quartets.

  • Mama was one of the greatest singers ever

  • Heartbreaking... are you listening Joan John

  • another great hit by mamas and the papas thanks for the clip and song.

  • You're welcome, MrLions49-san!!

  • My loved one is 10.000 miles away from me, right now. Feeling goosebumps all over my body. What a beautiful song!!!! I love it. Thank you for posting <3<3

  • Classic song :) Brings back so many memories of my childhood !!!

  • I am only 29 and I always loved Cass and the Mama's and the Papa's, born in the wrong era I think. Amazing band!

  • Cass was awesome! Few singers male or female have her vocal presence. The Mamas and Papas are definitely iconic 60s and I'm glad I grew up during that period. There has never been nor will there ever be another time like the 60s.

  • I respect Mama cass. I still can't believe they said she choked on a ham sandwich...disgusting people...

  • Cass means as much to me as Janis Joplin and Patti Smith. Some people can say what they want. But I loved singing along with these records as a little girl. I still do. They werent " hard-core" hippie but they were great. Lovely songs and When I was 8 this was nice and fun. Now that Im 30 this means much more. Especially after growing up and living an adult life and learning about real love & life. Thank you for posting and all the best to ya. ♥ Saved to faves. xx Cass LIVES!!!

  • You're welcome, NoRosesForMe-san!

And thank you for admitting this to your faves!!

    Otaku3 d(^_^)b

  • @NoRosesForMe You know that it's Michelle Phillips singing lead on this song, not Cass, right? ........

  • Just got a vinyl from Goodwill of theirs.....And, it's pristine!!!

  • @IamRedleaf Awwww ya cant go wrong with the real vinyl! I still love putting on those records. Sweet & memorable. .wow......

  • nutella 1 ful - How sweet, the feeling is mutual...........

  • impossible to get the same "feel good" feeling when listening to todays music as compared to this song

  • We miss you Cass Elliot; very few singers rival your great tone.

  • I think I might be addicted to this song.

  • May John, Cass, & Denny rest peacefully.

  • I forgot to mention my fantasy love affair with MIchelle Philips at the time..hey, c'mon I was only 15!

  • Beautiful high school slow dance. After the dance a little Smirnoff and Reingold and you swear you're in love forever, then time goes by and..........new song, new girl; but I'll always remember her.

  • old school but still cool. can remember gramma sing this to me when i was little

  • 60otaku3 - this song is dedicated to you for posting such a classic tune of my generation

  • Thank you, maxbatch70-san!!

    Otaku3 (*^_^)b

  • This song has to be one of those that really captured that mid-to-late 60s feel.

  • first heard this song in the summer of 1988 when I was 4 or so. We still lived in Cleveland Heights and were going out to the country to Roaming Shores, a private lake community in Ashtabula County. Just brings back memories of sunny, warm days :)

  • @jaecht83 Thanks for sharing...

  • Thanks, Robyn!

  • @BritishGentlemen very welcome :)

  • beautiful harmonies...

  • Rest peacefully, Cass, Denny, & John.

  • Great sounds of Mama Cass and Michelle Phillips. Oh, I remember the weird dancing between Cass and Michelle on the Ed Sullivan Show! LOL

  • Really, really lovely.

  • wish i was born in this era of music 60 and 70 rock

  • @335stella Me too :(

  • Get shivers every time I hear this!

  • They could harmonize. They could write and they could sing.

  • Who are the Asshole Police, eliminating videos here on You Tube?

  • Do not you like this song or my video??

Please do not post the comment irrelevant to the song (or my video) if so.

  • @60otaku3 I LOVE this song and video. It is/was in my favorites. but I got a notification that it was not/no longer available, which I assumed was due to copyright reasons. I clicked on it and it didn't work, making me think that that was indeed the case. I was then criticizing YouTube "officials" (certainly not you) for removing it. However, many apologies if I was incorrect. Anyway, SOMETHING happened, but I will re-add it to my favorites if I can. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • MattWhatsGoinOn-san,

If you posted here the comment for such a reason, I admit your comment.

But it cannot be helped that many videos of the copyright violation are blocked by YouTube.
