  • Do those barrels dematerialize. I had gallon containers of water and some of them are leaking.

  • I think it's wise that your storing your water like this but a word of advise. Take some water out of them before caping otherwise, when they freeze, your containers are going to crack. I see you filled it right to the top. Winter is upon us. Just sayin

  • If you are storing water straight from the tap, you still have to decontaminate it with bleach?

  • How do you get the water out of the barrels. Thanks, Matt

  • Getting water out of water heater is highly NOT recommended because of the fact that it sits in calcium and is after the filtering process and is now contaminated again for drinking or cooking. I suppose if you are dying of thirst, thats ok, what can you lose?

  • i have 2 - 55 gal barrels that are the welded lid like your little ones but i dont know what was originally in them . anyway i can find out? they have a different smell , i got 2 65 gallon bathtub liners from cheaper than dirt and put then inside just in case

  • great vid..but why are you not subbed to PreppingNews..lol..please check it out

  • Another great informative video from the Big Strapper!

    Thank you sir!!

  • where did you get your barrells from?

  • That is a fantastic system. I missed the video on your water purification system. What is the make of it? Big Berkey?

  • where did you get those barrels?

  • Could you use though barrels to super size your last water perifcation thing?

  • Looks good brother. My wife thinks I'm nuts because every jug we empty I am always filling with water and storing. Now that these pictures have produced showing all these people in Japan lined up to get a little bit of clean water....She understands now

  • Great job on water storage. This is something I've been wanting to do besides the gallon jugs I already have. Thanks bro!....Great intro too!

  • Nice video, do you have link were you bought these?

  • Thanks ,i got acess to those,,good idea,,just how much bleach do you mix with those containers?

  • @ORYAN918 I add 1 teaspoon per 10gals so 3 teaspoons for 30 gallons hope that helps

  • Great idea matey

  • @SHOOTERNW hey you should filter that water before you drink it and make sure your filter can filter out fluoride. That stuff is nasty among with all the other chemicals they don't list.

Where did you get the barrels and what was the cost? I'm not sure but I've heard that anything with chemicals (even syrup has it now) will leach into the plastic and make the barrels unsafe (if you want to be chemical free) for water storage. Water storage is something I've not been able to make large strides on

  • Another useful video. Notice, please, that this morning (15 March 2011) for the first time, ABC News and website are running a story on prepping. Very basic, of course, but a start nonetheless.

  • Good video:)

  • If you live a cold environment where it snows, be sure to leave an air space in the barrels, so when the water freezes it does not expand and crack your barrels.

  • Water supply might be loaded with radiation soon they are not sure what is gonna happen with the JAPAN meltdown. They are gonna get their wish they are gonna kill billions of people with radiation. I have barrels that I need to fill I have only 2 filled right now but tomorrow I will rense out my barrels and fill them with water and future I will filter them but will have the water should we experience radiation poisioning. We are so screwed bc of these idiots.

  • I've read that water actually makes a good sheild against radiation. If that's true then in a radioactive "fallout" scenario one might be able to create a small space inside your home surounded by water barrels where you could spend your down time (sleeping, etc). It wouldn't protect you from radioactive particles in the air that you're breathing but it might reduce radiation exposure from what's radiating through walls or a roof. Something for more research I guess. ;)

  • @CrypticCRICKET Concrete dome home makes a great fallout shelter what sucks is banks would not lend me the money to build one but they lent me the money to fix this broke down trailer? Domes cost about the same to build as a stick home and are near disaster proof. I bet had they had domes on the coast with no windows and had the dome anchored they would have made it if something realy large didn't bust the dome up like a ship or a tractor trailer. Domes have made it through storm surge

  • @cdltpx look into dirt bag homes. There are these bags that are similar to sandbags that you can make an entire home out of. You'll have yourself a fireproof bunker and it should provide some radiation protection.

  • G'Day Mate! I live in between two state forests,We use tank water here,I have leaf diverters and filters fitted to the the house and Filters fitted to the tanks,36000 gallons all up and a double filter into the house,I check the water quality every six months, great stuff,Better than drinking fluoride made in china as you blokes do there in the city.when I go to town i always take 40 litres in the truck ,Never drink town water to dangerous,Might need a Need a Gieger Counter now Mate!

  • @Wallabytrack this is why I'm hesitant to fill my water up this way. I always go to the water dispensing units (Glacier brand) that use reverse osmosis among other filtration steps. That's all I can really do to filter out the fluoride as I can't afford a filter system that will remove it at this time. I may try to make a water distiller this summer.

  • very cool wish I had the space to store like that how long will a 10 gallon barrel last?
